Anyone have thoughts on the image above regarding the left forearm cover strip assembly? Another question as well: Completed gluing front of shins - but the rear of the left one looks like it's deformed afterwards. I thought it was just the clamps pressing down, but I created a super wide gap (see pic comparison below) ... Thoughts? When I install the rear cover strip w/ velcro, will it hold it in? (I can pull it across so that both sides meet but there is a lot of pressure...)

On the topic of fixing stuff ... Not happy with how the left forearm turned out after gluing the cover strips. Take a look (clicking on pics should enlarge): Left Forearm: The upper part of the front cover strip isn't aligned well. I was having difficulty getting the forearm to cooperate when gluing and it seemed to have moved or bulged out a bit due to the pressure. vs. Right Forearm which looks better to me:

Yeah - it's funny what you don't notice when taking a pic, but spend an agonizing amount of time gluing and making sure those drop boxes are aligned. Hopefully it's nothing gravity won't fix when it's upright and not on the floor !

Belt done! How's it look? Test fit on the ab plate:

Those images are super helpful + the thorough explanation! Thanks A.J.!

Thanks - looking forward to getting that nice final polish then on this armor. Guess sandtrooper isn’t for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks! Just wanted to be double check. I wasn’t feeling confident that you could pick at the glue after it’s hardened.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First bicep fully completed. Thoughts? ... It looks a little messy ... I don't know if you can tell but I got glue sticking out on the sides of the cover strip and some glue markings on it as well. Is it possible to scrape the excess glue off without scratching the plastic? Other tips for cleaning this? Thankfully I did a better job of cleaning the other bicep and forearms when gluing them...

Next update - hopefully nothing as dramatic as figuring out how to clean up glue! Almost completed the belt. Minus holster installation, all single rivets, connection to Ab, and drop boxes have been installed and glued together. Sample pic: Additonally, I've started working on strapping system, including installing poppers on Ab, and the first bits of nylon to connect Ab to kidney. Otherwise, waiting for biceps to finish their 48hr dry time. Then on to gluing the next one!

I'm very glad, lol! - Thanks for being super quick to respond as well

Cool! Rubbing it off then Thanks!

Hmm - also, in my head I thought that I could clean it off later ... now that it's slight hardened (just a few hours). Any tips for removing glue completely and trying again? I honestly just underestimated how much would squeeze out once you put the clamps on...

Lol. Good thing I asked first! [emoji28] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Any tips for cleaning e6000? I was reading acetone on a q-tip would work ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Are you familiar with anyone having them come off? I sort of figured that after they cooled they'd be pretty secure on the tube. That's a very interesting point! Good thinking as well to hide a card in there! ... and now I'm thinking about whether my caps are removable or not ... That is a great reference for the holster placement. I'm having some trouble finding reference materials for putting together the Anovos belt as is, any recommendations? Let me know if I just need to look harder (I seem to find more guides/threads on modifying it or using the Kittle belt). Cheers

Next update - sort of bouncing around on what to do next (while I wait to start sanding and gluing the limbs this weekend). Sanded the thermal detonator tube down and attached the caps using the boil method following ukswrath's guide. Here are some pics: Had to be super careful when scooping up the caps from the boiling water. One of them I pressed too hard and heavily bent it in. But after fitting it on to the tube it took that shape and now it's like it never happened. Phew! Also, I wanted to take a look at the Anovos belt. I've been reading a lot how everyone has been swapping - to almost anything else. But I'll be honest, money is starting to get tight on this build project, so I may have to concede. However, before doing so, took a photo of everything with the belt together, what do you guys think? The most noticeable difference from ukswrath's guide is that ... well the holster doesn't have upper mount screws.

Hmm ok - well the thigh one is more of what’s cutting off a better leg bend. So I guess that’s a good place to start! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah I was planning anyways to remove the upper return edge from the rear of the shin, and the lower return edge from the rear of the thigh. That should help get the full bend in the leg. From there ... we'll see!
-
Sweet! Glad to hear! I haven't started sanding down yet, so I expect I may be able to even out some of the inconsistencies in order to get them to line up for gluing.
-
Ok thighs and shins trimmed down. Tried my best to keep the taper throughout. The right leg at the top is a little tighter than the left one, but overall they both fit well. The left fit is perfect. How's it look? Ready for gluing?
-
Quick question on the note of trimming (again). Is it possible to take too much off to deform the thigh? Or as long as I take equal amounts off the rear butt connection on both inner/outer thigh, I should be ok? I basically measured 6cm overlap - and taking 3 cm off the outer thigh piece looks like this (which mostly cuts off the straight end at the top):
-
Oh I actually didn't notice the bottom return edge was almost completely cut off in those pics. As well as the upper return on the rear of the shins. I imagine if I remove that then I should be golden .... but I guess I'll find that out later. As for shingate ... lol. Yeah... Sounds like it's not something that goes against approval at the end. I'll just go with what's comfortable then

Looking forward to that that sweet TK trooping ... hobble or not Sounds good, I'll just take the excess off and then leave it till later then.
