Hi Martin! Good to see you posting here!
-
Damn fine work so far sir!
-
That lid looks beautiful!
-
Nice work on the weathering effects - I'm really starting to come around to these EU TK's...
-
This coming together nicely Nassik. Any news of late?
-
Welcome aboard!
-
Looking good! I love your poseable hands - would you be able to do a thread on how you built them?
-
Do you have any pics to show how 'seamless' they are - preferably lid-off?
These pics are in TK8776's original thread about the seals:
You can get a good idea of the seam from these. Pretty neat huh?
-
Great review! You're part of TK lore now...

I recently had the honor of getting to be the first tester of TK8776 jgarrettg's new foam rubber neck seal design. Click here to see his original post.Â
The new neck seal arrived in the mail today and I'm glad to report it's first class. The foam rubber/ silicone stuff is extremely light weight while still being incredibly sturdy, thick and strong. They look very screen accurate because the material has a rubber look without any of the weight, heat or general discomfort of actual rubber.
Here's a pic of the seal as it comes, laid out flat on the table:
Obviously the neck seal needs to be customized by trimming to fit your personal neck size properly. The base circumference (or length if you will) is 21" which seems like a perfect size to fit nearly all necks. You can see here how much I need to trim off mine:
I measured it to about 1.5" on either side that needs trimming to get it to fit. I can already feel that the silicone breathes just as easily as fabric and is so lightweight you basically can't feel you're wearing it.
Here I'm using a clip to hold it just for the sake of the photo:
As you can see the ends are flat:
and the idea is for you to insert some rare earth magnets after trimming to size. It should end up looking like this picture of TK8776's finished one:
The rare earth magnets provide a completely seamless seal that simply clicks into place. The decision on how and whether to attach the cape portion is up to some exploration. TK8776 recently sent some pics of him trooping in his and it looks great - much more screen accurate than fabric due to it's rubber look surface. I don't want to post them here without his permission but I hope he chooses to post them because the neck seal looks great on. He has simply worn his over a higher neck undersuit, so there's not much need for a cape. It's all black on black anyway so you can't tell the difference.
Overall I'm extremely impressed. I'm off to get the right rare earth magnets tomorrow so once I start the building I'll get some more photos and post them up here. Stay tuned!

Brilliant!

What make of hand plates have you got? AM?
-
TKrestnova's Velcro solution sure helps the variation switch and swap, but I'm glad you bring up the tabs because thats the big one. If cut tabs became CRL required for ESB it really would mean you'd need two sets of shoulder straps and proabably two chest and back pieces...
-
What do I think so far? I think it's freakin amazing! Your metal look is incredibly realistic. That's really great work dude.
-
Welcome Chris! This sure is the right place to do your research!
-
to my knowledge the only scopes used on screen in ESB are the M19/M32 style, ]
Thanks so much dashrazor. That's exactly the information I was trying to clarify. Now my E-11 build can begin!
-
What a great tip! Thanks for to both of you for sharing that!
-
Sorry - I should have said canon and promo in reference to the CRL. But yes maybe a new term like "Mark II" needs coming up with for the CRL now that you've proven this blaster is seen on screen. The CRL simply states the "correct" style scope is needed for what it terms the "canon" E-11. I was always under the impression that this still used a different style scope (ergo the doopy-doe's scope would be a no go for ESB troopers) but now it seems "Mark I" is ANH identical bar the hengstler and the two tube things on the mag housing, while, what we should now term, "Mark II" is the greeblie laden version.
Perhaps we should mention to the staff about coming up with new names?
-
So John, if the ESB stunt blaster (as opposed to the promo) is the same as ANH minus the hengstler, is the scope the same M-38 on this version or the other style scope?
-
Welcome aboard Stefan!

Hi Nassik!
Me again - thought I'd hit you up over here instead of on TAG. Do you mind if ask what technique you'll be using to shape the shoulder bells? I'm going to need to shape my shoulder bells quite a lot too...
-
This is one of the best builds I have seen! Great work - definitely go for Centurion.
-
I love the greeblies. Not sure about the solid scope rail.
On another note: is that scope on the sci fire gun accurate? Even for ROTJ? It looks weird...
-
There's no denying that guy behind Landon has greeblies on his scope rail. On my screen I just can't make anything out on the trooper next to Vader. This blaster issue is never gonna be solved! Damn you George Lucas why couldn't you have a kept a closer eye on prop consistency!

Hi Josh
Hope I can help here:
EIB= Elite Infantry Badge - this is a rank or award for a particular level of costume accuracy. You can see the Costume requirements to reach EIB in the Elite Infantry section and also in the general CRL.
TK = A Stormtrooper. This comes from the fact that this code is used in Star Wars for troopers. As in "TK-421 Why aren't you at your post?". Every 501st member gets a TK number or ID once they have been approved for membership.
RL = I have no idea I'm afraid - someone else might have to help you here.
TB = an approved biker scout. That's the same as a TK ID but for Biker Scouts
Hope this helps
Lucas
