  1. Hi Michael and welcome aboard future Trooper!

Have a read in the “Getting Started-Read this First” section, as there is some really good info in there for new members.

Then, have a read in “Costuming and Builds” section to discover other troopers who are building (or have built) the same armor as you! Really good tips, examples, pictures, previously answered questions, and successes here.

In addition to looking at all the various build threads, I highly recommend checking out the “Advanced Tactics” section where you can see examples of those who have taken their armor to the next levels of screen accuracy (EIB and Centurion).  I’d recommend that you aim to build to one of the certification levels, as TK’s look their best at these levels. It's really not hard to acquire EIB or Centurion, and it’s best to do during your build rather that after.

If, and when, you’re looking for other bits –and-pieces, accessories, boots, blasters, electronics, etc., be sure to check out the “Imperial Commissary/PX” section for items for sale, project runs, and for other stuff that most of the troopers use.

Also, make contact with your local Garrison . They’ll help guide you through the process of becoming a member of the 501st, and may have local Armor Parties in the works where you can get hands-on build advice and guidance, not to mention meet members of your future Garrison.

So, start a build thread here on FISD; post lots of pictures and questions. We are all here to help you out and to make sure you look your best, and represent the 501st as best as possible.

All the best on your TK journey! :dancing-trooper:

  7. Hi Andrew & Welcome. You can be as conservative or as crazy as you want to be with accessories for your TK. You can add fans, hearing assist, speakers, static burst voice boxes, double AA batteries, or USB power packs, helmet padding, hard had liners or combinations of them both, as well as painting the insides of your bucket and adding mesh for the teeth.

Fans depends on a few things ... are you a "hot" person to begin with? If so, you'll need fans. The amount of air circulation in your bucket is dependant on the size of the head opening, if there are gaps in-between your lenses and the abs eye sockets, and how much gear/electronics you have in your helmet. Another considerations are the environments you'll be trooping. Outside? Hot-cons? Blast-a-Trooper? Long walks? They all add up when encased in plastic!

I'd wait for your armour to arrive and see how you fair walking around your house before ordering. Or order fans now and you'll have them if you need them. If you don't end up needing them you could re-sell them to another Garrison member down the road.

One must have accessory is light cotton gloves. They are worn under the black rubber gloves and help soak up moisture and prevent sticky trooper hands.

  9. That's a nice looking blaster and it should serve you well. Feel free to check out https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/127-anh-blastech-e11/ for E-11 builds.

As for ANH-Stunt lenses, I'd recommend visiting your local welding supply store and getting a replacement welding face shield. They are relatively inexpensive and durable. If you are ever in the Blast-a-Trooper booth you'll be glad you upgraded from the stock lenses.

  18. Open up your bucket opening a little at a time as you can't go back. I'd keep it as tight as possible so that people and especially kids can't see up into your bucket while you are wwearing it.

You could also try mounting your headset in your bucket, or wear earbuds and have a wireless mic in your bucket. It's really nice not to have a wire to worry about when you are getting dressed or undressed.
