Congrats on your induction mate, sorry I couldn't be there, hope all went well at the troop and hopefully see you at a troop soon

According to yeebeme who also wears glasses under his helmet he doesn't have or need fans...
that's no moon, Kim Kardashian is bending over again...
Yup, never used fans in my helmets. I always troop with glasses on and never had a problem (even with the fibreglass helmet for my FOTK! With all that padding!). Personally for me I don't think fans (for OT TKs, other costumes will vary) are really needed up here in Scotland where it's not just cold but really humid as well (was bloody freezing on a troop this weekend in my TK when we were standing outside, made me miss the FO TK gaskets
).
Having said that, everybody is different, some people might need them and others might not. I'd say they are definitely needed in warmer locations. The very fact that I troop with glasses on amazes even people over here! If you don't need them then that's great but if you do then that's fine as well. There are certain troops we do like Hamleys in Summer where it's like being in a greenhouse where fans would prove useful. Give fans a try, It is better to have something and not need it than need something and not have it

Welcome mate, good to see another member from Scotland

When I got my RS armour the sniper plate was lower than the required position too, but the one in the pics that Rob sent look the business, love seeing a nicely aligned sniper plate

I'm almost always on this site (as well as many other sites) lurking and doing research for stuff. But I only ever post once in a blue moon, this is one of those times.
...and back into the shadows I go...

I have a set of 1.5mm TM armour and I've put it through a lot of abuse and it's served me quite well. I've managed to sit down, bend down to pick stuff off the ground and even managed a 1 and a half hour car ride with 4 other people in the car while in the armour and it still hasn't cracked (although I'd probably suggest taking better care of your armour than I have mine
).
Personally I prefer the 1.5mm for that original feel and colour but I've seen the 2mm and it also looks awesome and is really sturdy. Either one you choose you can't really go wrong

Cheers guys, was a great set of armour to build. Has been on a good number of troops since and has held up extremely well
Having said that, I seem to have horrible luck...
and then 2 days later...

Always nice to see other peoples comments, but please do not trim the shoulder bells, they look great to me , im sure Paul will chime in, you look great
Yes there is no need to trim the shoulder bells at all to slim down the biceps. What I meant was that I think the biceps could be closed up a bit more to fit a bit better
-
Ooh I do like that armour. Looking great there mate!
The only thing I can really think of is that the biceps are looking a bit big on you, could do with slimming them down. The backplate seems to overlap the kidney a bit but that's not really a big deal. Just make sure you're comfortable walking around in the armour and trim where needed (it's always the bloody legs that get me).
But yeah, this is a really nice build. Love it

Welcome Nic! RS is a fantastic choice and the armour will serve you well. I have a set in ABS myself.
Here's a few threads on ABS vs PVC (from newest to oldest thread date, there's a lot more than this but these links should still help a wee bit)

Was cleared with the UKG yesterday afternoon
Also have gone ahead and closed up that gap at the base of the left thigh and have sorted out the hand guards so they're secure at the front and don't lift.
Overall pretty quick and smooth build, really glad I got a set of the TM armour. Will be trooping with it real soon and I'm sure it'll do me well for a long time

Thanks dude
Just for a bit of fun, a wee side by side with my ANH Stunt
-
Cheers guys
Submitted this build for clearance now with the UKG so here's some photos
Still need to reduce the thickness of the leaf padding to bring the helmet down a bit. I'll also add the wee shoulder strap elastics if I go for EIB

Didn't come pre-trimmed. I trimmed them
Have to say, this set of armour has been an absolute PLEASURE to work with so far! All the pieces just fit together so nicely and am absolutely loving building this. No frustration, no stress and it's all going by quickly too

A big box of brand spanking new TM armour arrived the other day. Will be going ESB for this one, the world needs more ESB troopers
Just got stuck in and trimmed a few parts, finished the cover strips on the left forearm and bicep and just waiting for the e6000 to cure on the right forearm and bicep right now. If anything needs fixing or changing just let me know
Big ol' box
Ooh
Nice and efficiently packaged

Hi mate, so this is actually my listing on eBay.
This was my first build from last year which does have some issues with it, some obvious, some not as obvious, all fixable I should think. The reason I'm selling this is because it's just been sitting tucked away in a box for ages and I have absolutely no desire to finish or fix it so thought, oh well, may as well sell it. I've tried to be as descriptive as I can in the description but I'm bound to forget things so if there are any issues I'll happily change it. I'll see if I can address some concerns
poorly applied decals
That's a fair assessment lol
Plus the price tag is insane for what you are actually getting.
The reason for the price is mainly for the eBay fees as they take 10% from the final selling price which is a fair bit (the shipping cost hurts a bit as well). I've now updated the price to perhaps a fairer price even though it puts me at a loss from what I paid for the original kit.
I've now updated the pictures with better pictures of the helmet which doesn't make it look as derpy as before
and I've also included a picture of the front of the legs in the description which I didn't realise was missing at the time because eBay has a 12 photo limit.
Unfortunately, the kidney and butt area didn't have return edges when I got the kit, it was all one piece
Who is BSA??
BFA is a UK armour maker, his kit is derived from CAP (at least according to the Armour Family Tree thread) and he's a great guy to deal with, not many people with a set of his kit in America I don't think. There's a few Centurions on this board with (well built lol) BFA armour. The kit is not bad by any means and the details aren't too soft, perhaps my pictures makes it appear that way.
Apologies if I've offended anyone in any way with the listing, it was not my intention to do so and I can take it down if required to do so
-
Cut more than I wanted off the bottom and sides of the cap/back and faceplate, cut more than I wanted off of the right ear and an odd one that I don't think I've seen anybody else do is cut the ammo box a bit shorter than normal.
I get a bit enthusiastic when it comes to cutting stuff I guess.

Well it certainly looks...interesting. I think it looks okay on its own and I don't think the general public would think that it's a TK from the original trilogy based on how cartoony it looks. But I do think it'd look a bit odd standing next to other TKs in a troop so I'm really unsure about it myself.
-
Ordered a BFA kit about a week or 2 ago so shouldn't be too long a wait now and DoopyDoos E11 resin kit just arrived today. Of course I'm just sitting here staring at it having no idea how to even start it. Just looking at build threads hoping that they'll give me some sort of realisation on what to do first.
