  1. Looks great! Where did the stand come from?
  2. I know Star Garrison has many on Facebook including Central TX and South TX squads. Seems like ice buckets are all that's on my FB feed right now! LOL!
  3. Thanks for the feedback Gaz. There are actually several over weathered spots and things that got glued together "a little off". Unfortunately I used a super glue type adhesive since I wanted it to be sturdy and now I'm not sure I can remove/fix those things. I may just have to use it as is for now and get another kit or a hyperfirm later.
  4. One coat of primer, 2 coats of flat black, one coat of hammered black, one coat of gloss black in the handle.
  5. I did a flat black undercoat with a light coat of hammered on top only for what would have been part of the original firearm. Be sure to mask off the t-tracks as they were only flat black plastic and the grip which was a shiny plastic. also do a flat clear coat over the hammered to bring some of the shine down.
  6. More progress on the paint. I think it's really starting to look the part! Still need to build the scope rail and work out the bolt/spring combo for inside the tube. Any feedback welcome (good or bad) Thanks all!
  7. Thanks for the feedback Chris! Everything is sprayed so far. I thought that image showed a good contrast between what would have been a real metal gun and the plastic t-tracks added onto the prop. I weathered more parts last night and will start some final assembly and finish painting over the weekend.
  8. so, all the all the parts are painted either flat black or hammered black. I'm now at the stage of "weathering" everything then final assembly. I'm just a little nervous about trying to do the weathering dry brush technique.
  9. After your question regarding the difference in a TK and a TD, I'm seeing more differences than just dirt and accessories. You'll need to look into that topic more as I've mostly been researching TK builds. Good luck!
  10. Following this topic as I've put a deposit on the same kit.
  11. 1 - left has 11 dimples, right has 12 (not sure about the inner) 2 - arm strips are 15 mm wide, legs are 20 mm. I believe the main difference in TK and TD is the dirt and accessories. 3 - round corners so they don't stab you or snag 4 - I'd bolt it together util you're 100% happy w they way its built. Then maybe glue it. this is a great build thread... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/10434-pandatroopers-am-build-threadam/
  12. the curve trick worked well, but trying to cut and snap the plexi with the protective film on the front and tint on the back just made a giant mess of the screen. It would have taken forever to fix it with a dremel. So I peeled all the film off a scrap that was close in size and trimmed to fit first, then tinted. Much easier... even though the curve was there, it still didn't match the curve of the front, so after applying the E6000, I strapped a dodgeball inside to "push out" the curve more and let sit over night. also lots of silicone around the edges for extra hold. Added a couple of pieces of pool noodle inside to fit and viola! They even went to the grocery store last night and she wore it out in public! They said every one smiled and laughed and asked questions.... Challenge accepted and done!
  13. Here's the process for my fun little "tv head" project. Donor tv being gutted... Empty shell... 1/8" plexiglass, tint on one side, protective film still on the other (this will be a problem later) coat hanger to get the right size cutout for the bottom. Just making sure this fit over her head before cutting aaaand cut out... test fit dummy she wanted to paint it red with turquoise stripes... put the plexi over the original glass tube and out in the sun to kind of "form" the curve. Used clamps as weights. Not perfect, but way better than trying to fit flat plastic into the shape of the shell face.
  14. I hope they post photos Sent from my ComLink
  15. I saw a pic on instagram of a TK and a TIE fighter pilot at the SDCC Star Wars Black Series booth today. Just curious...
  16. I posted these on my Garrison Facebook page. This is where I am w my build. I've incorporated some mods I've seen in other builds. This has been more difficult than I thought it would and I'm a pretty handy guy. I guess it's just working with a new material. Sometimes I think it's a giant mess.... sometimes it's my favorite thing ever! I know it's not perfect or accurate, but I'm definitely trying my best...
  17. My girlfriend's teenager has asked me to build a "tv head." I naturally assumed it was someone with a tv for a head and some quick googling confirmed this. She already has an old TV and I picked up a bunch of supplies today. We'll get started tomorrow evening and I'll take lots of pictures during the build. I have some ideas of what we can do, but if anyone else has heard of or done this sort of thing, feel free to chime in... wish me luck!
  18. picked up a few small bolts and screws and a spring at lunch today. Also a metal bar for the scope rail and a PVC pipe scrap for the bolt. The pipe is a tad wide to fit inside the DD. I haven't decided if I'm going to trim it to "make it fit" or try something else.
  19. Single guy, so this is goin down in my living room, on the coffee table I built and my kids have colored all over! LOL! white shavings everywhere! Lots of grinding, shaping, sanding, filing. started drilling holes and dry fitting parts, gluing in small posts for support... even superglued my pinky to my hand!
  20. So, a perfectly intact box arrived today... (obligatory box photos) I don't plan to document a detailed build here as there are plenty of great builds already. I'll post progress as I have it. I also don't plan to go all out and make it super fancy. I'm really impressed and a little intimidated by the creativity of the builds on here. My goals for this build are to have fun and build a durable blaster for trooping. Wish me luck!
  21. Thanks for the link and pics! Looks great!
  22. Awesome, great info, thank you! BTW, I'm interested in one of your helmets as a collector/display piece.
