As ugly as this armor is, I would be more than happy to make a project out of it if the price was cheap. Too bad they charge more than some of the best makers around here.

You nailed it, man.

Nice. Hero suits are cool and I don't see enough of 'em. Assuming you've done your research on Heros, you know you'll need to do some modifying to that AP Stunt helmet. Good luck my friend.

Never too old! Good luck planning out your build.Hi guys, always fancied being a stormtrooper and am now at that point where i am able to do it. So looking forward to doing all the research into it. Only thing i am unsure about is am i too old at 56 to start this.

Top notch pics.

Even if there is a difference, I doubt it would be noticeable enough for anyone to speak up about it, especially if you're weathering everything. Keep in mind that in the film, the helmets were painted HDPE and the armor was unpainted ABS - so there was a subtle difference there!

Avoid using a heat gun if at all possible. It's easy to warp the plastic beyond repair if you're not careful. I think you might need to trim the neck opening, but I'd hold off on adjustments until an expert chimes in.

Looks great man.

tried a replacement red but its too dark
Are your red stripes going over the joins on your biceps? If so, you will want to sand that paint off. Those stripes should be running across the raised detail on the back of the biceps.
Here's mine:
Otherwise top notch work. Your trooper is coming along nicely

I don't see a thing wrong with it. You built it well. Time for paint!

Cool Amazon sell it here. Carmine red maybe looks closer?
Yup! It's just a touch darker than the red I used. That's what you want right there.
-
I do What shade/brand is it?
I used Rustoleum Gloss apple red, but I was told by some that it was a bit too light compared to the game. If you can find Rustoleum in the Scotland, that would be best.
I'll leave it a while, at least until i've tweaked the clearance detail for vanilla ROTJ. There's no hurry at the mo, but i'm certainly leaning to the red side!
Good plan. If you do decide to go Shock, you might want to sell off your ROTJ thermal det and pick up a new ANH styled one or borrow it from your other trooper costume -- as this is what the game model has.
It would be great to start seeing more of the red guys cropping up, and I can certainly see it driving a new demand for what was once a relatively unpopular style of armor.

Make it into a Shock Trooper, Mark. You know you want to.

Is that a Hyperfirm? By the way, love the shots!
Yes sir it is. It's a B-grade cast which is missing the charging handle and has a few minor imperfections, but it's still a highly detailed piece which I'd recommend if you're looking for something cheaper.
Thanks!

You absolutely nailed it, man. There's so much more personality in a helmet like this versus a clean one. Looking forward to seeing how you do the rest of your armor!

I would like to know as well. I have a Hyperfirm DLT-19 that doesn't fit in the crate.

A good friend of mine wants my help building her a trooper. We decided to go with the Nova Sentinel, which is a black trooper with silver stripes. The thing is, we're not building from a kit because we're poor and we want to stretch our creativity. We're using plastic sheets and plastic trash bins. For the smaller detail pieces like the abdomen plate button panels, knee ammo, and shoulder straps, we're just going to get those from ATA.We want to use a heat gun to shape the plastic into the iconic Stormtrooper look. We aren't going for 501st with it, but we want to get as close as we can to making it look right. I was thinking of heating the plastic, then pressing flat objects against it to create the raised areas. She has another method in mind but I can't wrap my brain around it.I have a spare ammo belt and a set of handplates so we don't have to worry about forming those. I found my old eFX helmet and have given it a new set of earcaps and a paintjob so that takes care of what would have been the hardest part. Our goal is to have her in a finished suit in time for this summer, so we can troop together at all the conventions. If this is a crazy idea, convince me to stop now before we get too invested in it. Otherwise, I'd love to hear suggestions on how I should go about this!

Mike, you armor looks awesome! I'm converting my Anovos to a Shocktrooper and I've been following your thread.
What color/type of red paint did you use? It would be great if we could standardize on a type/color so everyone looks the same.
Thank you sir! I used Rustoleum Gloss Apple Red, but I've gotten a few comments saying that the game's red appears to be a bit darker. I'll be needing to apply more blackwash to my red parts.

Hello, my name is Ivo .. I come from the Czech Republic .. suffer from Crohn's disease, unfortunately, I am disabled and can not work so my income is from small .. should I watch Star Wars and my dream was to have a stormtrooper armor, but because of my disability it can not allow .. because I want to ask if anyone sell used or broken stormtrooper armor? as I write I can not afford new .. sorry I can not use English translator .. thank you
Ooh, I bet you could get some broken or poorly pulled parts by asking some of the vendors who sell armor here. Once you gather enough parts for a full suit, you can create your Death Trooper costume

My plan:
- Trim all the forearm ridges down to 15 mm, strap to biceps, and pad the insides.
- Take about a half an inch off both sides of the abdomen plate, and slightly bend with heat.
- Install chinstrap in helmet, Plastidip interior.
- Wear balaclava to hide hair
- Weather fabric belt
- Apply light black acrylic wash to thermal detonator and handplates
- Remove elastic straps from shoulder bells
-
Sorry if this sounds morbid, but I'm pretty sure if any government found out about people with special "force" powers, they'd be kidnapped and experimented on, and most definitely killed afterwards. They would never be able to live among us

These are CAP-W forearms but I imagine they're pretty much the same. I'm definitely not comfortable with removing any of the ridges entirely, but I'll trim as much as I think I can get away with, then strap and add padding. Would you happen to know off the top of your head the minimum width allowed for the ridges?

I like the Death Trooper idea. Perfect for Halloween, horror conventions and zombie walks.
Good luck with the new AP build.
