Hi There-My neck seal is starting to turn my armor purple, so, I want to get a new one. Making one is beyond my skills (I know, I tried!), so I'm looking to buy one.Can anyone recommend a seller who makes neck seals that do not have this problem? Any suggestions?Thanks--TIm

Hi there-
I half remember reading SOMEWHERE about some kind of clear coat automotive polish that people put on their armor. In my mind, what I remember was that if you coat your armor with it, you will get a very nice, bright shine, and, it will also help protect your armor from blemishes and yellowing.
Of course, now that I am looking for this thread, I cant find it anywhere! (Maybe I read it on the Legion forums. Maybe?)
Anyway, does this sound familiar to anyone? And if so, do you remember the name of the product that was used, and if it really worked?
My first set of Stormtrooper armor seems to have lost it's shine. I have cleaned it up with Novus polish, but it's not quite enough. I am building a new set of armor, and I am looking for that "all over shine" look. (I'm going to convert my original set into a Sandtrooper).
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there-When I first saw artwork for Star Wars Rebels, I wondered how long it would be until someone would be making Stormtrooper armor in the Rebels style. Well, today on Facebook, I stumble upon Grand Zillo Creations.I sent them a note asking if they were going to be making a full set of armor, and if they were going to be selling it. The answer is yes to both questions. - I've already asked to be put on their waiting list! Now, in regards to the 501st, how does a new kind of armor like this get to be considered "official", and accepted into the group? Does anyone know the steps that need to be taken?I don't know how long it will be until I have my armor (I'm awaiting more details from G.Z.C.), but I curious what I would need to do to get this new kind of armor approved. I haven't found any reference to this kind of armor yet, but I imagine I wont be alone with Rebels styles armor for long. Thanks for your feedback--TimTK-44221
Hi all- I just wanted to follow up on my post from earlier...
I heard back from the guys from Grand Zillo Creations. I was wrong, they are not making armor right now, just helmets. The reason? There just isnt enough reference material available yet. Fair enough!
Anyway, I just wanted to correct myself. Thanks!

Are you too skinny?
The EIB question is a little more on the subjective side. I would err on what looks most correct based on wearing it, but it depends what the DO thinks. At worst, apply and see what feedback you get. Look at many other applicants who passed and also look at screen grabs. Since every body is different, the placement of every single detail is sometimes our best interpretation.
IMHO, the boxes may need to be moved a little bit more outside. It is nice that your thighs come up and close the gap really well, which may be adding to the illusion that the drop boxes are weird. How are they attached to the belt? Can you detach them and re-attach so that they are cheated a little more on the outside of the last ammo box on each end?
Unsolicited: your forearms look pretty large, you may want to consider trimming those down to be a bit more snug.
Thanks for the feedback.
The boxes are riveted on, but I can easily deal with that. I think I will say "measurements be damned" and move them. After I posted this, I took a look at the photos of the EIBs out there already, and they all seem to have their boxes hanging closer to their hips.
And as for the forearms, that issue has already been fixed. ;-) Great minds think alike!

Hi there-
Well, I finished my armor and earned my number! TK-44221 reporting for duty!
Now, I'm putting the finishing touches into my suit to get it up to spec, so I can earn my Expert Infantry Badge. Nearly there, but... I'm having a problem with my drop boxes.
I think. Maybe not. Anyway, let me ask for your opinion on this...
The drop boxes don't seem to hang properly when I am wearing my belt. Take a look...
They seem to fall "inside", a bit to close to my crotch. Aren't they supposed to fall further "outside", closer to the hips?
I followed the diagram online (which I cant find now to link too, sorry) and they do line up properly on my belt when the belt was laying flat, but, when I put the belt on, they don't look right to me.
Any thoughts?
I can reattach them, so they look better when I am wearing the belt, but then, they wont be "accurate".
Will I pass for EIB as they are?
Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Good thing you didn't use a plasti-weld type adhesive
E-6000 for the win!

I share your pain my friend.
Thank you. I knew I would find the sympathy and support I need here in the forums. Much appreciated.

Not a question, I just need to share my frustration...
So, last night, I attached the sniper knee plate to my greaves. I got it on, it looked good, and I was happy.
This morning I wake, and the first thing I realize... I attached the knee plate to the wrong shin!!! Ugh! I have it on the right leg, not the left! D'oh!
AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I just needed to vent. Thanks for letting me share my pain.

Hi there-
I've been reading so many tips and how to's over the last few weeks, that often I see stuff that I know will be helpful later, but... I either forget the details and/or forget to bookmark the thread. Then, no matter how much I search, I can't find it again! Ugh, the frustration!
So, here's what I'm looking for tonight, which I know I've read recently, but just cant find...
I'm looking for a diagram or photo of the ab piece, which shows the placement of the belt snaps. I know I've seen a photo that had measurements of where they should be placed. Anyone else have the link to these details?
Also, I'm looking for the measurements on the little nooks that need to be cut out the kidney piece. I know I've seen a post with these measurements somewhere!
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Thanks for the info!
Now, to create a new post with my next question...

Hi there-
Another day, another question...
What is the width of the strap that your drop boxes hang on? I'm guessing it's either 1 inch, or a half inch. Just curious what the forum thinks.
Thanks for the help!

I know I've read the answer to this question a thousand times before, but now that I am searching for the answer, I cant find it!
What is the best "recipe" for sanding and buffing out problem spots on your armor?
I am looking for something like "start with 500 grit sand paper, then use..." (and so on and so on)
Can anyone tell me what steps they take when cleaning up a problem spot?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks guys. Just curious. I placed my order almost 2 weeks ago
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I placed a large(ish) order on September 5th. I received two packages already, but I am still waiting for my final three items. - Just my 2 cents!

Thank you everyone for the great info. Without these forums I would be lost!

3/8 inch + or- a tad. I wouldn't go over 1/2"
Is that on all pieces?
thanks

My armor arrived this week. My first set ever. Last night I started trimming the pieces. Today I have a question...
Just how much of a return edging, aka a lip, do I need on each piece?
The only thing I can find about this is on the CRLs; for ANH Stunt, it states "No return edge on the inside of the front of the forearm is allowed." But what about the rest of the pieces?
Going through the tutorials, I am confident I understand the shoulder bells and the shins, and I have a rough idea about the the torso pieces (back, front, top and bottoms), but I'm not quite sure about the biceps, and the thighs.
Could someone please run through the piece of the armor and give me and estimate about the size of the lip on each of these pieces? The help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for the help!

I'm getting ready to start my first built. Tonight I was reading up on snap plates (using ABS vs Nylon). I've decided to go with the ABS snap plates. While studying this subject, some people say they use ABS Glue, and others have said they use E-6000.
I would like the forums opinion on the pros and cons of both. So, what do you guys think?
And a quick follow up question... Where do you get ABS Glue? Would I be more likely to find that at hardware store, or at an arts and crafts supply store? Just curious.
Thanks for your help. Much Appreciated!

Hi there-
Just curious, what is the sizing on TE2 armor? What size person does the TE2 armor best work for?
Sorry, I could find the answer when searching. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks~

Can it be done in a month? 2 weeks? Sure. But stars must align and the armor building gods must smile upon you.
I was afraid of that.
Hopefully the armor will arrive sooner rather then later, fingers crossed. I'm also going to ask the members of the local garrison for help. Maybe someone will take me under their wing and shepherd me through the build. We'll see!
Wish me luck!
