I installed stirrups in my calves. I basically hot glued a piece of black elastic two thirds down my calves, enough to accommodate the height of my boots. Sort of like this baseball sock

My calve armor never rides up the tops of boots now.

I imagine that you put your boots on after the shins go on?

  2. I guess I have gone in a completely different direction...I use snaps on my outside and inside ankles (the elastic webbing of the boot to be exact) and of course snaps on the inside of the shin armor to match up with the ankle snaps.  Problem solved, I have never had issue since.  Even when going up and down stairs my shin armor stays just where they need to be...no more riding up on top of my boots.  :)  Hope this helps.

  3. Just to add an observation that I have had looking at many different type of boots used outside of the original is that the boots seem to look as though they have a steel toe. And you can see what I am talking about in the above illustration, is this something that is just accepted today? Or perhaps something that is too much to in effort or process to match? I know attention is given to the shape and texture of the webbing used but how about the shape of the toe? Just my two cents. ;)

  4. Ok. Everyone was right. This hobby can spin out of control very quickly. I finished my first TK and put an order in for TM before it was even completed. The AP stuff was fantastic but man, is this TM amazing!. I started to assemble the bucket and I am having problems like everyone else with the ears. I am posting a link to my photobucket to see if anyone can give me a some insight on ear fitting. http://s1272.photobu...r piece project I also am sending the submission photos from my AP anh stunt. I would like to apply for Expert Infantry but wanted to see what I need to change on it. I will be trying to do the new TM to Centurion level if I can. Here are the picks from my AP. http://s1272.photobu...bmission photos Any help is sure appreciated! If it wasn't for this forum I would be walking around in Rubies or Ebay stuff for sure. A huge thank you to everyone for all the help.

    Hello,

I don't have an answer for you but instead a question...where can I get TM armor for myself? :)

    Cheers!

  5. Yeah, those are probably the ones he's talking about. Definitely need to change the elastic portion. Overall $95 + 50 for those boots

You couldn't find black ones with the correct elastic and paint those? Definitely cheaper that route but hey he got it done :salute:

Yep...those are the boots. The biggest thing for me is that they are super comfortable, no hot spots and they are high enough I don't have any issues with my shin armor riding on top of the boot. I knew going into it that I would have to change out the webbing but at least I don't have to paint the boot and the webbing. They are made with the idea that they are going to be on your feet for a good period of time which is why they are so comfortable...of course the 60 mile 3Day walk will be the true test for me. ;)

  6. Hey all,

I just made a purchase on eBay from a seller Shoeheels...a western boot outfit in Texas. They sell white leather "workman boots" for $95.00. One issue, you need to switch out the leather webbing for correct webbing. I just took my boots in to a cobbler and made the mod for $50.00. They are so comfortable that I am going to wear them when I walk the 60 mile 3Day Breast Cancer Walk this August here in Minneapolis.
