  1. Perfect! Something felt very wrong when I saw that drilling up the thigh. Much appreciated guys. Pics really help.
  2. Could somebody please help me? I'm putting the ammo pack on the right thigh and am having some troubles. A guy does a demo on Trooperbay and thought it'd be easy. I lined up the corner of the ammo pack on the outside of the thigh along the ridge nicely. I then went to line up the inside edge and it lines up OK.... but when you stand back the ammo pack seems crooked and hangs too low. When I go back and watch the video, the guy drills the hole for the inside edge up higher on the thigh above the lip/ridge. Is this correct? I'm building an AP kit if that makes a difference. I was looking at some reference builds and some guys seem to anchor the corners on the ridges (where it seems logical to put them) but then tilt the front up so it doesn't hang too low. What should I do?!
  3. Just want to clarify. The drawing/schematic of where to drill the torso is asymmetrical. Is that right!? It shows the right side to be way further out from the mid line compared to the left. I don't want to make a mistake and would appreciate some clarification. Thanks.
  4. thank you for the links. I saw the one with the belt. Still doesn't explicitly say if I'm to permanently attach it to the abs or not. Looks like an alignment guide but wonder if it should per permanetly rivited in place. Also wondering still about how much of the corners to cut off. That's not listed anywhere that I can find.
  5. Hi guys, Getting closer to finishing up my build. I don't want to screw things up so I want to get the small details nailed before cutting. What angle are the corners of the plastic ammo belt cut at? I think 45 degrees right? And what distance from the end are they cut at? Does that make sense? If you were to take it uncut, how far back from the corner do you mark the cut point? Another question.... is the ammo belt permanently attached to the torso or do you just put it on each time? And another! How do you close the backs of the packs that hang from the belt? Some guys make it look like they're almost a box and very pretty but I have no idea how they do that. The best I'd be able to do is to cut a rectangle and glue it to the back. Then there's the thermal detonator. I have the pieces glued to the painted tube but how do you attach the money clips to the tube so it clips to the belt nicely? What positiong should the long white piece with "buttons" be when looking at it from the back? The few pics I've seen seem like the white piece is pointed upwards so the grey tube is more prominent. What's the best way to have it attached? Help a bro out! Matt
  6. Mine bites at the back of the knee. Is it OK to trim away some of the material in the thigh to give some leeway? I think I've seen pics of guys doing this but don't know if it's allowed or not.
  7. Not to sound like a dick; but why bother with this step?
  8. Ouch! I still haven't assembled my thighs waiting and hoping somebody might help me out. Watching panda troopers tutorial but no mention of trimming the rear of the thighs or adding the amo pack yet. Hopefully soon!
  9. Hey Guys, Is there any special way that you're suppossed to trim the back of your TK thighs so they fit better? I haven't begun to glue mine yet and just have them taped. I have them pulled up as high as they'll go and they still pinch at the back of the knee if I take the slightest step. I haven't been able to find anything about trimming the back of the thighs yet and want to make sure I don't do something that would be considered inaccurate. Any photo references, tutorials or just advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  10. Is there a tutorial I could follow on how to build mine with the conversion kit?
  11. Is there a tutorial on how to mod your hasbro E-11 with the doopy do kit?
  12. I was wondering about painting the inside of helmets. Does it show through to the outside at all? I have the AP kit. Does it make your eyes harder to see through the lens? Would a layer of paint compromise future gluing in of fans etc? Ie would the paint be a weaker bond point compared to gluing directly to the plastic?
  13. Is it just me.... but is it not ironic that pics of people kneeling down to take a shot always have their sniper plate knee up when that's what the sniper plate was meant for?
  14. That Wampa is CRAZY!!!!! Think you could do a duct tape manequin in a different pose? Like standing guard with gun in hand? Does the duct tape form matter or does the PVC matter more?
  15. Yep.... the acetate sent with the kit. I taped it in place and it actually seems fine. I also put some memory foam at the top of the lid and it fits pretty well.
  16. Now I'm paranoid if I build it with the overlap method ill have spent all this money and made all this effort only to be told I'm not good enough. . So how does the butt joint method work? Would I size it up like it is now and then cut off the overlaps and glue a strip down the centre to hold the 2 halves together?
  17. Hi guys, I have an AP kit and want to install the lenses in my helmet. I've seen this video: http://trooperbay.com/videos-2-2-2/ which I thought I'd follow. When I look at my lens material though it's different. It's too short to stretch from one set of screws to another. It also has sticky material on the ends of the film so I"m guessing I'm suppossed to basically treat it like a sticker and just lay it in there. Both methods leave me a bit confused about how to really get the lens to lie flat against the eye holes. I've also seen people who've cut out eye shaped lenses and then glue them in. Any advice? Matt
  18. At this stage I'm not as concerned about Centurion level but who knows what I'll think in the future. My problem with doing shims though is that the legs fit just fine with the overlap method and I feel I'd essentially be ruining the fit and the basic shins in general for the sake of authenticity. What if I do the overlap method and then put a cover strip over that? Would that satisfy the authenticity requirements?
  19. Thanks for the input guys! So a few things.... the top pics look OK. Can I really force the inside malalignment to go flush? Will the glue hold? What kind of heat source would I need to use to "melt it" into place? Sounds like a massive mistake in the making in my clumsy hands. I've got chicken thin legs and arms (ladies! Ladies!... one at a time please!) so the overlap method works well for me. I think it also looks cleaner and is a lot less work than cutting and glueing strips if it's not really necessary. But you say it'll make the plate fit better? How so? And how should I do these strips? Cut down the shins and butt the sides together and glue strips below and above so they line up over the seam?.... or just glue a strip ontop of the overlap?
  20. I actually went looking for foam today for the first time. I ended up buying a mattress cover made of foam from Wallmart. $14 and MORE than enough foam than I could ever use. Dunno if it's any good or not but that's what I've done.
  21. I'm working on an AP build now myself. Just posted asking about help with the sniper plate. Could I see how you attached the sniper plate? Did you have trouble getting it lined up? Mine's terrible!
