  1. Welcome to FISD, Skyler!

I'm pretty sure you'll spend less on "real" armor from the guys here than on a Rubies... you just have to put in more blood, sweat, and tears. :D

I am definitely willing to bleed for the cause! i just need as musch help and input and time from other members as I can! I'm pretty sure I want to do weathered armor but I'm pretty savvy and artistic so making that happen shouldn't be an issue. I'm not sure if I want to do a speeder scout or a stunt stormtrooper...

  2. Hello and welcome, a helmet build is perfect to start off, depending on what armor you go for you can sometimes order the helmet and play with that until your armor is ready. Good luck with your build

Thanks! I think that's my route! And if nothing else It's a great decoration to emberrass my wife with! (I barely got to put the rebel alliance pillow on our bed by pure luck that the colors match perfectly!)

Hello and welcome from one noob to another! :smiley-sw013:

    salutations!

In the meantime (I hear ATA has a very long waiting list), you can get started helping out with your local garrison now. Be sure to sign up on their boards.

I added all the people I saw in AZ (not the AZ garrison specifically though) The nearest brother or sister to me is 3 hours out! but maybe a 3 hour trip for a piece of armor or an event is worth it sometimes. lol

Welcome! And I second this ^^^.

Getting in touch with your locals means you can not only meet them, but get into wrangling for them (almost as fun as trooping) and become an active part of the team ASAP.

    Also armour parties ;)

lol....locals...read above ; ) I'll definitley get in touch with my state garrison.

thanks everyone! I think I'll start on a helmet and take the time to make it 110% fully padded re-inforced and comfortable!

  3. Hi and welcome :)

You've come to the right place for help.

    Start off here

There's plenty to read up on so give yourself some time to absorb it and don't rush into anything. Avoid Rubies and eBay.

This isn't a cheap hobby but you don't have to buy everything at once so you can spread the cost out over a period of time. Maybe start with a blaster build while you save up for armour. If it's what you really want you will get there :)

Thanks. I was thinking a helmet build first so I have something staring at me motivating me. I feel like you can always have a trooper without a blaster but you can't have a trooper without a helmet...theyre just rebel scum. Lol

  4. I hear a lot of the ebay kits are re casts and not 501st acceptable...what about this seller sefni.international from UK? It's what pops up under "ANH Stormtrooper"

    ebay

I always assume the negative before the positive so don't worry, I'm not rushing to purchase from this seller or any other on E-bay

I don't think this is in any way related to Star Fortress....see I do some research ;)

  5. A copy and paste from my e-mail to ATA works

"I am trying to get started on acquiring a storm trooper or desert trooper uniform. I don't know what the process is or the cost usually. I know the rubies "costumes" are VERY expensive and not 501st worthy so I can only imagine what a quality, respectable uniform can run. I know many of the members vacuum form their own and I can't imagine how I'd do that myself. I'm low on funds, resources and knowledge. I'm not looking for a handout, just assistance and brotherhood and new friends!

A little about myself: I live in Yuma, AZ less than 15 minutes from where a lot of the Tatooine scenes were filmed! I ama huge fan (obviously) and feel inspired every time I watch the episodes or my "crawl" theme ringtone goes off. I have a wife and 2 year old son. He is actually one of the main reasons I'm starting this journey now. I want something to share with and pass on to him. I have already shared my Star Wars passion and he is obsessed with IV, V, and VI and can't go anywhere without his Chewbacca and Yoda plushes. Before he could even talk we would ask him what Chewie, Yoda, and Vader say and he would "ARRGGHH" "HMMMM" and "CHOOO-SSHHHH". Now I want to have a uniform and join in on events and charities and leave something for him to be involved in and have a passion in as well. I look forward to working with you and the rest of the 501st and becoming a member with an acceptable uniform. Thanks for your time!"
