  1. Greetings everyone! Brown Box Day has finally arrived. A day early. Whew, let me take a deep breath.... Okay, so my sister called while I was at work ( yes she is also supportive of this endeavor of mine ) and I immediately told everyone I had to leave and went straight home ! Couldn't contain the excitement ! The day is finally here. And there it is. I thought there was no way the whole kit could be in there! But sure enough.... ...all of it's beautiful-shiny-freshly-packaged glory ! I thought I would also include a few pics of some of the parts, and my gosh, he really did an amazing job at packaging this up for me. And YES, a replacement for the FX lid is already on its way, should be receiving that by Friday. I can only sit and look at the armor, I don't want to touch it ! I want to start this build, but by no means rush anything. I think I have the famous "TK First Timer" syndrome some of you have explained to me. I don't know where to start ! AHH! Well, I will keep all of you guys posted with my progress, questions and updates. Very soon! I want to keep this rolling along smoothly. Thank you guys for all the support! Best Regards, Julian
  2. Thanks guys, I would love to make one, just can't find the raw materials or time to find the materials locally.
  3. Thanks guys for the support! I was dwindling today trying to get something done, so I took care of my hand-made canvas belt. I will be posting it on a new thread this evening or tomorrow. It went well, (as good as it could have gone for plugging in the sewing machine for the first time in months) I'll leave a link here for all of you who want to do one on your own and want an extra thread to look at. Considering there is already a pretty good one on here. Altogether the belt only cost me an astounding $8.00 !!! Some spare time and effort can really save you money.
  4. Absolutely gorgeous set you got there.
  5. Hey all, I'm getting my TK kit together, and am making my attempts at finding a reliable and accurate holster, or holster kit. Possibly materials to craft my own. Ideas? I found this one- -------- I know I should stay away from Ebay for almost everything, just starting to skim around. Much thanks, I'm new at this and want to be sure before I go down any routes. Best regards, Julian Martinot
  6. Hey guys ! I thought I'd post a little update. The paramount "Brown Box Day" is literally days away, I can't keep my eyes off of the FedEx tracking page! Should be here this Wednesday, two days and counting. As for those who may be asking, I purchased an old, (never assembled) FX ANH kit. It is my first build so wanted to start off with something I won't be too worried about if my craft skills are long gone. Kind of interesting actually, the kit has remained in its box for years, never opened. As for a new bucket, a friend of mine offered to sell me his eFX for a generous price so figured why not. Going to have to do some over-haul come EIB or Centurion time, but figure it's a solid start. Will have to get a more accurate one, need to get some sources together. Below is what I have put together- (exempt are as many clamps as I could round up and of course the neodymium magnets ) and the rubber bands are primarily to keep me motivated and keep in consideration the Doopy's full E-11 kit I still need to order. (for holding all the parts together while epoxy sets) I am going to construct the belt myself, not sure if I should include it in my build thread...? Or give it a thread all in it's own. Feel free to leave me suggestions for the build and any other convenient materials I should scrape up. Thought I would share the tracking status. Let the anxiousness build. Thanks guys! I'm ready for the journey! Haven't been able to focus whatsoever in any of my college classes. Not good, but it's for a good cause.
  7. Wow guys ! Loving the feedback. Guess I would be a fool not to go with Doopy's full E-11 kit. Gonna have to break out the dremel for that, should be fun. What glue would anyone recommend for the Doopy's resin kit? Obviously the E6000 for my armor kit would not be nearly as strong for the resin pieces. And Charles I love your Doopy's E-11 build thread! Definitely will be referring to it as I build. Glen you know I've already been checking yours out. Thanks everyone!
  8. Very true Mark, I will definitely keep that in mind, my Brown box should have a few extras included on delivery day. (two days!) I managed to get in contact with an old friend who has an unopened FX from years ago. Shouldn't be too bad of a first build for me. Yeah Tyler, I definitely want that shiny immaculate look if you will, but would like a few interchangable armor parts to give a quick, rugged and worn look. Probably just an extra lid and chest piece will do the trick. And Glen, I love your Centurion blaster build!
  9. And Carlos, you're awesome. Solved that one for me.
  10. Thanks Karin. And Wes, I stumbled upon some pretty awesome pics of a fellow crafter who actually cut out a small portion of his chest armor and put a receded layer of finely detailed computer board and circuitry. Finished with a good burn all around. Definitely gave the armor the look of more depth. I'm scouring for the pictures right now!
  11. Hi all, I am anxiously awaiting brown box day, and feel counter-productive just sitting around doing nothing! I need to get started on something! So I figure a blaster project would be a good start, except for one problem, I can't stop fishing through just about every forum to make a decision. As a first time TK builder, (first time Star Wars prop builder at that) what would all you experienced members suggest a newbie such as myself? Keep in mind I would like to eventually achieve EIB, but if it's too fast of a shot right away, I can wait for that to gain some experience. Thank you so much! Your support is much appreciated. (this build is tampering with my sanity!) Regards, Julian
  12. Greetings everyone ! I'm not exactly what category this would fall into, so I decided to pop my topic right into this section. I have two questions, I have seen many of TK with a holographic looking (in some cases) ID (or number or decal) on the lower edge of their left shoulder bell. What is this? Also, where would I be able to scrape up a pretty well detailed (if one exists) topic or tutorial covering armor damage? Such as a blaster impact or some sweet looking firefight burns. Thanks! Brown box day is almost here! This coming Wednesday! Armor party sounds awesome, I will have to arrange something with my local Garrison. Your support is greatly appreciated. Regards, Julian Martinot
  13. Looking good! I too happen to have an FX helmet on the way.
