My right knee plate fell off, and I want to reattach it more permanently. I was thinking about using ABS glue, but someone mentioned that riveting is more "screen accurate" . . .
Please recommend where I can come up with a rivet gun and the proper rivets to use.
Also, pix of a properly riveted knee?
Thanks!

How about resin mod kits for Kenner blasters?
I just ordered CA gel to use. Do you think that will work keeping the resin and plastic together?

If you want a complete unit I highly recommend BOMMAR (search our site). Otherwise, build up what you need with radio shack parts. Third option, skull.
I searched for BOMMAR and came up with nothing. Pointer, please?

If you're interested in one, please post saying so. Mike would like to gauge interest in the Trooper Comm Interface for production purposes.
I'm in for one.

May all your Christmas wishes come true and you get loads of cool pressies (Especially the SW ones).
Thanks, darth nugget!
I, too, wish everyone here a Merry Imperial Christmas!
You'll have to wait on the booty report, as we just moved (changing me from the German Garrison to the Golden Gate Garrison) and we won't have everything in-hand for Monday. My father scored each of my boys each a Luke ROTJ green MR-FX lightsaber and for me a complete double Darth Maul MR-FX. They were on sale at Border's and he got a great deal.
Once my household goods arrive from nine time zones away, I'll have to post up some pix of a clean trooper with a double red saber fighting some Jedi scum!

I have caboots TK boots with Dr. Sholl's Gel inserts. Let me tell you, I am so not gellin'. Does anyone have any good suggestions as to what makes a good comfy insert? Please provide brand names or links if possible
I use Superfeet inserts in almost all of my shoes and boots, to include my Caboots TK boots. I have narrow feet, so I generally use the Green insert for low-volume feet, but the Blue insert when I actually can come across a pair of narrow shoes. The Blue insert should work for anyone with a normal width foot.
I generally get them from REI . . . (SUPERFEET AT REI)
I have had to do a lot of walking in my line of work (generally, with up to or over 100lbs of gear on my body, in less than pleasant environments) and I've tried all kinds of inserts. Superfeet are hands down the best and most comfortable.

Thanks everybody! I wasn't quite sure what to expect the first time I went out among the masses, but the reaction was overwhelmingly positive.
I didn't quite realize it . . . but I guess that my younger son's Jedi costume sort of looks like a Jawa from behind! I don't think that would make him happy, if I told him!
Hey Parabellum, that looks like a whole lot of fun!! on which base are you? i saw that it must be somewhere close to where i live as you are listed in the same Squad as meThe Trick-Or-Treating was on Patch Barracks in Vaihingen (Stuttgart).

Fun was had by all. The military base where we executed Trick-or-Treating was in complete shock that a "real Stormtrooper" had invaded it. Thankfully, I knew the senior MP on duty and had full backup!
-
I always thought the stormtroopers were cool, now I am one! Besides, it's something I can do with my sons (4 boys age 10 - 20) and we all have fun. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Sir,
Let me say that I greatly respect your involvement as a father, especially in something that interests your sons! I'll be moving to the GGG by the end of December . . . so I hope to troop with you!
My boys are a bit younger (6 and 4 yo), but at least one is going to be an SW character for Halloween (but, Jedi scum that he is, I'm going to have to try and bring him in!). The other is going to be a Blue Power Ranger!
My daugther is only two, and I'm going to try for a Leia costume next year!

My experience says yes. I've never had it hold for very long myself, but others may have had better luck.
Can you give me more info?
For example, did you have something put together with hot melt fail? How did it fail, and what did you do to remedy the situation?
-
When my armor was assembled and fitted to me at MFX, Guidon extensively used a hot melt glue gun (fed with Hilti glue sticks) for assembly.
Each bicep, thigh, shin, and forearm was put together this way. In addition, other straps and brackets, etc, were installed w/ hot melt as well.
Will I discover this to be a problem down the road?
Thanks!

I was trying to think of a way to get more sound out of my speakers for big events ie lots of noise. I have aerator speakers, hyperdyne and amp in bucket, and didnt want something I had to do away with something for. so this is what I came up with . . .
Let me know what ya think, good idea or no so good.
That's a fine looking helmet rig and a great idea!

Great suit & great to have you aboard!
You probably already know, but don't forget to add the three buttons on the left side of the ab.
Thanks! I forgot to add that to my list when I left MFX, he had run out of the greeblies for that part. In order to get what you pay for, you basically need to be willing to visit his lab, often more than once. In my case, I had to go three times.
Guidon does do great work, though. The armor is thick, strong, and looks great! He does run behind in materials and work, and that's where you need to push him along. Of course, since I'm 6'1" and around 215lbs, there was a little extra work to get the thighs, biceps, and chest to fit me properly.
I also still need to get some foam stripping to shim the insides of the shins and biceps, to keep them in the right places.

Imperial Greetings!
I only just recently completed my TK ensemble and this suit will remain as clean as I can keep it . . . so it's quite fortuitious that this Detachment was approved when it was!
Here's a shot of me in the Movie-FX lab where I received the finishing touches from Herr Messika himself:
I only just rec'd my Hasbro E11 and am still working on that to bring it up to snuff. It will work for now, but I really prefer something better looking. I'd really love to get a Hyperfirm, but I don't think the spousal unit would go for that after the cash spent on the armor!
In any event, I will only be a member of the German Garrison for a little while longer, and then I will be moving to the Golden Gate Garrison (before the end of the year).

However, today I let my neighbor try on my bucket . . . and when he ripped it off of his head, he put two cracks in the left chin area where the rubber edging is!!!
So, I guess I'll be trying to mix up some ABS paste tonight using scrap ABS and some ABS Glue . . . I'm glad this thread is here for encouragement!!
