  1. I appreciate the helpful tips everyone, thanks.

I wanted to clarify, I chose my words poorly. I said trooping, I didn't mean actual trooping at an event. I meant just wearing the kit, (for example at a Halloween party). If I were doing a proper event I would of course hold myself to different standards. I don't think the passive aggressive remarks are really warranted, especially as I'd like to qualify that I don't actually represent the Swiss garrison.

I'm totally new, just got my suit. If I make a faux pas, it's neither accurate nor fair to use that to judge the Swiss garrison. Again, if I were taking part in a formal troop I would definitely hold myself to a different standard of conduct than just going out with my friends.

Mea culpa on the poor choice of wording for the title and OP. I've since edited it to more accurately reflect what I was trying to say.

  2. I think you guys have a different ethos to trooping as we do in the uk.

A stormtrooper doesn't need a wallet or keys as there is no opportunity whilst trooping or need to use either.

If you for example received a mobile call whilst trooping as a stormtrooper would you remove your helmet in public to answer it?

Do you go shopping whilst trooping as a stormtrooper?

How would you eat or drink on costume?

In the UK we arrange changing areas, and never get changed in the car park in front of the public.

We leave our belongings in safe places.

We de kit for lunch or breaks.

We never go out of character whilst trooping.

Believe it or not, this is exactly the same ethos as demanded by Disney by their costumers.

Disney now own Lucasfilm and I fully expect that if you are offered any professional troops that you also learn to adopt the staying in character ethos.

I will be at CE2 in Germany this July 2013 and would very much like to compare how other garrisons troop at this event.

Yeah, I mean just for wearing the suit informally like at a party.

I would imagine for a proper troop I'd have my stuff locked up and stay in character the whole time.

  3. Hi all,

My RS suit is arriving today! My first time wearing it will be this weekend then I'll hopefully be able able to join the Swiss garrison.

I had a question though for people wearing their armor for Halloween/other parties or other informal occasions. What do you do with your wallet/phone when out in your suit?

Not trooping formally, just at parties or with friends.

  4. Hey all,

I had a quick question about TK lightsabers/lightsabers in general. While browsing I found the following website:

    http://www.ultrasabers.com/

It looks alright, the quality of their sabers looks pretty good and the prices are fairly reasonable too. The amount of customization you can have in your saber is pretty impressive. What I was wondering is, does anyone have any experience with their products?

    Build quality, customer service, etc?

    Thanks!

  5. Hey Luke,

your parents watched probably too much Star Wars, when it came to lending your name, eh?!?! :D:P

Welcome to the FISD, Neighbor :salute:

...and enjoy your RS suit...a really awesome armour.

    Greetings from germany.

    Cheers...

Haha, not even I'm afraid! My mother is Catholic, I'm named after the Biblical Luke, not the Star Wars one :P Apparently shortly after I was born my dad came storming home and demanded "You named my son after a scifi character?!?" :D

  6. I actually got a very quick response (within a few days) when I requested price + shipping info from the Doopydoos website to Switzerland. I ordered one and it arrived yesterday, I'm very happy with it.

I was in regular contact with Casey throughout the whole process so I'm quite satisfied. There's only one minor niggle, a little bit of the paint has chipped off the tip of the barrel. I can just paint over it again so that's not a problem, but I was wondering whether people usually put on a coat of something on their blasters to keep them in good condition and minimize paint chipping.

    Any tips?

  7. Hey all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. Living in Switzerland, have always been a fan of the Star Wars movies (despite getting "I'm your father" jokes growing up due to my first name :P)

I've got a suit of RS Prop Masters ANH armor ordered so I will hopefully be able to join the proud ranks of the 501st in the near future. I'm already in contact with the Swiss Garrison and am looking forward to trooping!
