  1. oh as for the pauldron, i got that cheap with my boots. i know im not a sandy........ might be my next suit though, who knows? i just dont know about the dirt......
  2. thanks for that locitus, the strips are a bit heavy. you should have told me yesterday before i sprayed them again ... but ill give them a light strip of white to cover them up a little. thanks for the note on my thigh too. i have to shorten these up today to fit right so ill loose the lower strip as well. as for my blaster. we had a laugh with that one too. i wasnt happy when i had to take it apart to turn the scope around. but it needed to be done. i was so proud of it. i showed the lads in the 501st and it was a new (young) fella that pointed it out first. we were not amused! its all fun though.......
  3. well i found out i stuffed up the tube strips on my helmet. there were facing the wrong way. so i had to cut them off and start again. on a good note, this meant i can finish the helmet off and glue in my Com's etc. yes i know I'm going to sweat/swear at the place I've chosen for the transmitter. but its the only really place that feels good and sits right. see what happens on my first troop eh?
  4. thanks to cen for letting me come round the other night for fitting. couldn't have done it without you and Wendy's help. so have now finished off my top half. still in need of adjustment but ill do that later on. i think hes looking good. its taken just on 2months and a week from start to now. that's helmet, blaster etc. not bad for a first timer. here is some more pics for you. one upper leg finished off got me one of those icomm toys! had to make up a charger. 110v to 240v. another test run of photos to see how its looking/fitting. the photos i took by myself so not the best. had to put me shoulder on i love the last photo! so shoulder straps, hand guards and a couple of odds and ends to tidy up and i think hes done. all view's welcomed...
  5. this was the first ever time i have tryed it all on at once. still abit for work left on fittint things, but really happy with the way things are shaping up. thanks cen for the photos! i should check my email more often! this is the stage where one of the boys noticed my scope was on backwaards! grrr! thanks for the photos again cen. your the man!
  6. don't use 20mm strips on your arms. so had to redo these i use a 125 angle grinder to cut them and butt join everything. you have way more control then a dremal i find... done and looking alot better started on the belt too i stuffed up the blaster too. the scope was on the wrong way. so had to pull that apart to and get it right. we were not happy about that one! but all sorted now. i started on the main bits and bobs too. the boys taped me in the suit last sunday too. ill try and get some photos up of that soon.
  7. thanks so much, but im still loading up photos! your a fast typest!
  8. one scope rail. its the only small steel i had, so it has to do. everything else of mine is 10mm+ finished e-11 making up lower leg. slowly getting there.
  9. well i made a start on the e-11 blaster over ther weekend. im not game enough to start the armour just yet. i have to do some more homework about mounting things etc. but here are some photos of the blaster for a start..... ive spent about 12-15 hours give or take on it already. scraping out the crap in the corners and drilling out holes and things. reshaping to fit better.making the corners and groves sharper and stuff like that.im hoping that it pays off in the end once its finished. see what happens. havent finished the blaster yet but not to far off. needs scope rail made and a few more parts glued on etc.ive been kicked away from the heatpump and into one of the bedrooms. glueing in pad instead of helmet liner. dont like there liner to much. try a pad first eh.
  10. well the armour arrived the other day and so did my e11 blaster. nice well done jon with the packing! god knows how you fit all the stuff in there. i must say its a real nice kit, thanks once again jon for this, your the king
  11. well ive done a little more on the helmet this weekend. just painted the blue strips on him. so now all thats needs to be done to my lid is fit the liner, mic, and paint the screws white. cant wait for things to start arriving in the post. he is some more pics. not the best, but im happy with the way hes turned out. had to cut/polish and scrap the blue. it didnt turn out to flash.the paint creept under the tape a bit. but after a cut and kniveing all was well. suit should be arriving next week sometime. so im really looking forward to getting stuck into things..
  12. hey boys and girls. i started this 2 1/2 months ago,i started a thread on the kiwi 501st fourms and i wanted to share with you lot too. but id still love the feedback and views on things so far. so here goes! armed with the laptop and cup of tea. (not included in the kit) one ata kit... oh where to begin. ARRHH? very bright eh!. (unlike the guy putting it together) eyes all cut out and made a start on the teeth. (second cup of tea) coming along. making a start on the ears. quite tricky little things! and yes i have dirty finger nails. i deal with steel all day long ok! mics painted and mesh glued in. one day of working at this stage and im really happy the way things are going. thumbs up man! started on the paint work. i was going to use decals but ive never painted before, so i got carried away and bought some paint and brushes. here goes nothing! first coat of black paint. first coat of the gray paint. i gave it two coats of each which worked really well. just finished putting on the strips tonight. everything was done freehand too! really happy! not 100% but rough enough for this kid. hey its my first time. and this is my gear so far. not much but it wont take long till it all comes together. ill keep you all updated with things as i go along. feel free to ask questions etc. all the best guys
