  1.

For that same 7 grand worth of money (spent spaced out over the years), I built my 4 approved 501st costumes and bought an Iron Man costume on the side.

  2. I'll be joining you in the way of MNS. I'm just trying to get the teeth and ear gaps close before adding chippy goodness....

That's so awesome you're trying to match that helmet exactly, with the ear gap style and chips and all that. I just made a "generic" helmet build and chose to not put the tube stripes on.

  3. Beats me. I was as surprised as you were, cause I'm the only "No Stripes" in my state and a bunch of regular ones turned their pics into Lucasfilm. But I can now officially say I'm "Lucasfilm approved" for trooping, anyway, because they did choose me out of the group.

  4. Across the country in various cities, Lucasfilm is running REBELS cartoon screenings tomorrow. These are official paid troops where LFL has asked for two TK's to appear. We have one screening in my state, and a bunch of the local TK's all submitted their "all 4 sides" pictures to LFL to let them choose which two troopers they want. Myself and another trooper were chosen by LFL. In the pics I submitted to them, I was wearing the only TK helmet I've ever owned....the one without tube stripes on the cheeks. Lucasfilm is planning to give me a paycheck to go out and troop as Mr. No Stripes tomorrow morning. I win.  :D

  5. I fully believe the CRLs are the guideline, and the more accuracy the better. That being said though, I always troop with a No Stripes helmet. It's the 4th Star Wars costume I have to do troops with, so if more accuracy is required at some event, I just wear one of my other 3 costumes -  so it doesn't bother me any if the CRL never lets my ANH-Stunt guy be an ANH-Stunt guy by FISD standards, as it goes. I'm coming up on my 14th anniversary in the 501st this year, so I'll still be trooping.  ;)

Honest truth as to why I went with that helmet in the first place was that I figured I could instantly pick myself out of group pics at troops where there would be a number of TKs at it. That's the reason. After a while, I did (and still do) think about adding tube stripes to the helmet to look like everyone else, but when I throw that thought around to other TK friends of mine, somebody every single time will always tell me "but we like you as that No Stripes guy". So, since the people I normally troop with want me to keep going with it, I'll keep trooping as a Mr. No Stripes I suppose.

  6. On a side note about that first picture, I'm not super tall. Those other 3 troopers in that pic with me are all like 5'7".  :P

In case anyone cares - I'm 5'11" and 159 lbs.

Besides the ATA armor with kwdesigns inner drop boxes and Troopermaster Thermal Detonator, I also have a leather holster (unknown origin) on a TKittell belt. Hyperfirm blaster with Sonnenschein D-ring on the back.

  7. OK, after a couple years of trooping an FX armor with CAboots and of course an ATA No Stripes helmet (and ATA handplates)......

.....it was time to take it to the next level. So, in the last month I put together a full ATA body to match my helmet along with new TK boots (and TM detonator). Project spearheaded by the always awesome accuracy nut Seeker with assistance by Gazmosis....who by the way got me some of his belt rivet covers and decided he wanted to do a few upgrades to my ATA suit, so proceeded to cut and hobby iron the RS looking divot into the top of my left thigh armor, as well as cutting the squares into the lower front edge of each side of the kidney armor and ironing return edges into them. Thanks, Gaza! Between Seeker and Gazmosis, we built all the new armor components to Centurion level right off the bat. I keep throwing around making the helmet the correct Centurion level to different troopers as well, but undoubtedly when I bring it up, someone from one of the 2 Garrisons I normally troop with will always tell me "but we like you being the No Stripes guy".....so it looks like Mr. No Stripes is here to stay. Here's a pic from Sunday, the day we finished the build to wearable condition. I still need to attach the silicone hand plates I have to the rubber chemical gloves, so am using my original ATA hand plates in this pic, but figured why not post up a pic anyway.

Presenting Mr. No Stripes: The Next Generation....
