  1. I may give that a try. A little frustrated to go work on it right now ;) I was so happy with my test fit, I was just sizing up and measuring straps. Got them all done today and was getting ready to put together the whole upper part when I said to myself, "I think I will reshape the biceps a little bit for a better fit!". I reshaped them all right!

Guess I will work on the legs for a bit, I guess, when I get up get the nerve ;)

  2. So I was trying to round them a little bit. I don't have a heat gun, but I read you can soften up the plastic by putting it in boiling water for 10 minutes, then shape it. I have actually done this successfully on a few parts already, such as rounding out shims, etc. Yeah. Not this time. Lesson learned.8047684057_8b22ec3f1b_c.jpg

  3. Greetings! I am hoping someone can help me with some info. I was starting to make some headway on my build when I totally destroyed my biceps. I was wondering who I would need to contact to get a replacement set and how much they would be. Not ready to purchase right now, unfortunately, but just wanting to know how much I need to save up! I looked on Ebay and all I saw where a set by makerofthings, which I hear is garbage and some that is selling for 48.00 a piece plus shipping meaning it would cost just over $250.00 for the complete set, which sounds a little too pricey. Any information would be appreciated!

  4. Sometime in the near future, I am planning on ordering some boots from TKBoots. I do have a question though. One of my legs is slightly shorter than the other due to a childhood hip disease and I currently have my soles built up by a local shoe repair shop. Is it legal to have this done with stormtrooper boots? Technically it isn't "screen accurate", but it isn't overly noticeable. Just wanted to find out before I spend the money. Thanks!

  5. Hello all! Just recently joined the forum after looking around and getting good advice. I have just recently started building my armor and hope to join the 501st in the near future. It will be awhile before I am up and running, but thought I would introduce myself and meet some people. Looking forward to trooping with everyone!

  6. Thank you very much. After I found this thread, I was very concerned whether or not I would be accepted with the armor I have. Thank you for the link to improvong the FX armor. Fortunately most of those changes were ones I planned on making anyway. I was pleased to see the section on closing the side gaps however. I was planning on using the FX helmet, at least for a while anyway, but I guess that will have to go. I have some time anyway to save for it since I won't be able to troop anyways until October or November. I figure that gives me plenty of time to make the mods and put it together.

  7. So I ordered some armor from Treckfreek BEFORE discovering this thread. I mistakenly thought it was official FX armor, as that was the picture he used in his auction. My question is this: Can this armor be modified to be 501st legal? There are a few things I plan on changing, particularly with the helmet. Instead of aerators, I recieved what is obviously some after-market volume knobs for a radio. The armor itself look OK to me, but it needs things such as a canvas belt, holster, etc. I know I need to spend some cash to improve it to my standards, I just hope I can make it to the 501st's standards....
