  1. TK-4510, Thanks, I'll check it out!

Yeah, I tell ya fella. I've been keeping my out for these second hand for over a year now. I know some folks who make em outta kits but I've always wanted a solid rubber one for the kids to hold onto.

When they come up (they've come up in my Garrison, Legion & Ebay) they're gone like the wind. I have an MR that comes out for special occassions but who the heck wants to troop with that ton O lead? So the ol spray painted Hasbro has worked for a longtime now. Hey, at least I can have my holster on the right hand side!

  2. Nice job Wyatt and a great idea to continue to advertise the Legion and the "white stuff"

You hit the local Target and well, I'll take a guess that you were looking at Star Wars figs? No? Its not sarcasm either. You see, I cant tell you how many times I've been to a Target/Wally/Mall/etc., and get stopped by folks wanting to know more about my 501st shirts! I think its great that there's such an interest and am more than happy to oblige with the gift of gab. I love our detachment because Stormies are such icons. Everytime I troop with a Sandie from the MFP or MEPD, they just ask me why he's dirty!

  3. Welcome aboard fellow geek. Now if only you could say you loved the original Battlestar Galactica, I'd find ya a true friend indeed! I too am 35 with 3 little girls so you'll find many of us in here fit the description. Here's hoping you have a full decade of trooping and bringing thousands of smiles to lots o little ones in the name of the Empire! Troop on!!!

  4. Great to meet ya! You're gonna fit in just fine here as I too had a dream to wear the armor since I was a kid back in the 70's. For those of us who saw SW the first time around, it just astonishes me how it's stayed with us all these years leading adults to play dress up and all the while happily performing like a monkey at an accordian just to make a few kids smile. Thats what its about for me anyway. Good to know ya!

  5. I've always been fascinated by the stormies! I too saw the movie as a kid back in 77 so come 78 or so I bought my first fig, a stormie for 77 cents at a local department store. That led to a toy collecting craze that only briefly halted for the love of good women as the teenager turned into a young man. When POTF2 came out, I got back into toy collecting around 96 and met Dave Prowse at a local comic show. Well, marriage and three kids later led me to become a Disney fan and Star Wars and Disney go hand in hand. I've hit the parks(s) for most every SW weekends each May and the kids obviously saw my excitement each year. After watching stormies patrol the rooftops of MGM and seeing the excitement of kids faces watching the 501st, I said thats it, I'm resurrecting the child in me and becoming that TK I always wanted to be as a kid. Oh and the Hard Rock Hurricane down at Universal helped push me over the edge as well!

  6. Welcome on station! For many of us, the white armor is our favorite too so you're in good company :D

I echo these sentiments with a hardy welcome. I've been to Houston many times throughout my years. I have one particularly fond memory of a Senorita Bonita I met at a Judas Priest/Dokken concert I attended back in 86. Oh what warm memories she provided!

  7. Were I to create a website, would it be alright if I included links to and perhaps a picture of whitearmor.net?

I realize we may be changing sites, but in any case...

Well, we'll leave that one for our leader but I do also want ot welcome you! I can give you a little background for my armor. Basically I searched Ebay for about a year until I just decided to go with a simple set of armor and put it together myself. You don't have to be a mechanic to put them together as it can pretty much be done on a Saturday afternoon with basic tools. The most important things I learned from my first troop was do not just use velcro for everything as you'll be constantly putting it back together after trooping in it a couple hours. Use the velcro to get started but then follow the same lines and put a rivet or two in each line. Also, you should install a set of fans in your bucket as even on spring and fall days it gets hot in there. You can pick tem up at most all the chain hardware stores. You may also consider installing a microphone and voice amp which also doesnt cost much and can be found at a Radio Shack or similar store. Best of luck!

  8. Whats up Ross!!?? CCG representin' Nor Cal style. I just joined today and I'm as pleased as you are that we now have our own TK boards!! Sweet. See ya at our next troop! Hey, I heard you got selected for the Rose Parade. Congrats!!

Welcome aboard fella as we'll all be new together here! Its a great site. If you were one of those chosen to march, then buckets off to ya fella as it's gonna take the iron will and iron butt of a TK to march that route in armor! I'll be rootin for ya!

  9. Ewok fat, huh? Thanks for the suggestion TK8020!!

We'll have to send the detachment to Endor for a little blast session and pick some up!

Welcome alongside fellow TK! You're history is about in line with myself so look forward to seeing ya on the boards! Regards the ewok fat, it can also be used to fry up a mean hamburger! I hear the bikers also use it to polish their boots!

  10. I believe there are some logo changes requested by the Legion Council as a condition of the approval of this Detachment. Addition of "501st Legion" etc.

It is a great looking patch you all have put together. Reminds me a bit of the MAC/SOG patch from Vietnam with it's skull and crossed rifles. Very imposing as is befitting this detachment of TK's

  11. Welcome Troy! Rest assured you're not the only trooping Dad on these forums, so you're in good company. :)

What periods of military history do you favor? I have brushed through the usual (Revolution, Civil, WWII) but primarily focus on ancient Greece & am not delving into Roman.

Thanks guys...I've always enjoyed reading about history's great conflicts and currently I'm reading about the collapse of Army Group Centre in the summer of '44 over on the East Front of WWII. Truly amazing the death and destruction involved in the East. The number of Divisions and the amount of Armor involved are staggering. I just finished reading a highly recommended book on this portion of the war by Guy Sajer called "The Forgotten Soldier"

He was a Frenchie who joined the SS and fought in the East up and through the Battle of Berlin. This is by far the greatest first hand account of war I have ever read.

  12. Hey guys! My name's Troy and I live just outside Richmond, Va and am a member of the 501st/Garrison Tyranus (Virginia). I just learned of this site through the boards and thought this is some place I wanna be. As a clean TK and still relatively new, I just wanted to say how great it is to have a site like this up and operating. High praise to all those who've worked so hard to make it happen. Look forward to posting with all in the upcoming months and should be able to get some pics in here at some point for recent troops completed and of myself. I lead a regular life in the commercial world with a wife and three darling girls and use my Star Wars hobby not only as a form of escape but also to help out various charity causes the garrison has trooped. My hobbies include Military History, Star Wars toy collecting, Ghosts, UFOs and anything Disney! Best wishes to all!!!!
