  1.

I've just finished my 501st approval build and I'm finishing off the last couple of things to submit for EIB approval, so my comments relate to ANH specifically. Late last year there were changes to the Centurion requirments, although you can't access the threads because you're not an approved TK yet. The threads are in the detachment only section of the forum.

I have been following both your build thread and, of course, Darth Aloha. Are you going for Centurion? Is there anything in your build thread that is currently not allowed for a Centurion? I know I have to first become a TK, then EIB, the Centurion...but I want to build the suit once and the right way!

  2. Sorry, I am at a bit of a loss. I just got my RT-Mod and would love to head all the way up to Centurion. BUT, I cannot find comprehensive information on the new standards.

First off, what is the "Cover Strip Method"?

Is there a good guide on creating the straps and stuff that hold up the suit? I went to a troop yesterday and the methods two troopers used to hold up their leg armor was completely different. The look was the same once on, but when getting dressed, they were opposites.

Problem is that the how-tos might be out of date with the new standards. Not sure.

    Thanks

  3. Hey Sean,

Welcome to the RT-Mod club brother. I remember the brown box of goodness well. As Glen posted don't stress about the Decals, the ones from Trooper Bay are great and are easy to put on. Just remeber if you decide to head for Centurion you'll need to build using the Cover Strip Method. Other than that you're good to go, good luck with your build.

Just got my RT-Mod brown box of happiness today...(I'll do my own build thread soon enough) But I haven't had time to do much research here.

Have a good link to a Centurion / RT Mod build using the Cover Strip Method?

  4. I'm going to test my knowledge and guess from top to bottom is Sterling, hyper, Mr?

Correct. The T tracks on the Unique Canes / Sterling might need a closer look. Not sure. One thing is for sure, both the MR and Sterling are HEAVY!!!!! I won't bother with the MR and leave that as it is, the Sterling will get the counter and cylinders at some point. The Hyperfirm needs the D Ring attached.

  5. The m19 scope was also used in ANH. And there is no proof of any coloured wires in the movie. The closest thing is a rare promo picture. The few frames you see wires are non-coiled black wires.

Yes. And this is why I ask. I saw picts of the M19 being used in ANH, but cannot recall if it was a hero E-11 or Stunt.

Anyway this is all for a build using a decommissioned Sterling, the correct Eagle 400 Counter, and a M38 scope. Just thought I would check the scope as I am still collecting the parts (As I wait for the RT-Mod armor)

  6. I cannot seem to find a lot of information on how the E-11s were decked out for the Stunt TKs in ANH. I can find lots of info..but it doesn't really seem to answer these questions -

    For the Stunt ANH -

1 - What scope is more realistic to the screen used blasters? The M19, M38, or M40?

2 - Are all three scopes accepted all the way up to Centurion?

3 - Are the Hengstler 400 counters on all versions of the E-11?

4 - What about the wires attached to the counters?

5 - Cylinders. Required up to Centurion?

Is there some back story to the different version of E-11 Blasters used? IE - Sand Troopers use one version, Death Star another? Or is it the actors grabbed whatever and used whatever?

  7. Force my wife? Never. Ask her? Yes. When she refused, I honored her choice.

Now having said that, she is slowly (mind you I am still new to the 501st - and my costume is Vader) coming around to the idea of dressing up / Cosplay in general. She sees the good and is beginning to see "why we troop". But I would never force her to dress up.

Thanks Eric, I hope my build ends up being as helpful to someone as yours has been to me. I've printed off a hard copy of yours and it lives in my armor box with various folders of reference material. Have you decided yet if your going to use RT-Mod again for your Centurion

Got an answer right here for ya!

YES!!! It is helpful. I just got my email from Rob that I am slated to get my RT armor in February. I plan to take it all the way to Centurion too...so not only am I following your build, but imagine ill be linking back to it when I start my thread!

  9. Thanks, everyone! Glad to know my thinking was not insane. Trust me... it goes that way sometimes.

If you're still paying attention to this thread - anyone have any tips on how to diminish some of the seams in the rubber? It seems if you sand you get... sanded rubber.

Got my E11 last week and those were the first two questions that crossed my mind! D Ring and sanding rubber
