1. But that would take away the super desirable bump in the right eye! Don't get me wrong, I prefer the sanitized way, but there is something magic in an RS helmet, charming with all its imperfections, as the were made... At least as a display. The anovos bucket is something in between, smooth surface but wonky, square and clean teeth but asimetrical mouth and neck... I yet have to make up my mind if I like it or not. Better decide when I hold mine in my hands, and if I can't cope up with the wonkiness... time for modding!

No, it won't have the same effect on the bump as in the pic. I think Paul just meant widening the trimming around the eyes, so the eyesockets do not show a rim against the lenses.

  2. As someone who once had an EFX as a first helmet, I upgraded to a CAP-W and never looked back. The HIPS plastic is much lighter and more comfortable to wear than whatever the thick stuff EFX is made of. That, MTK, and ATA are all fine choices for cheap, good quality kits. Why buy an EFX and do a bunch of extra work to make it pass for basic approval, when you can just buy a quality kit for roughly the same amount of money (sometimes less)?

I agree. My problem was I owned the MRCE before I even heard of the 501st, then bought me a set of armour, which came incidentally without a lid. It took me some nerve, pain and time to get the helmet up to the standards, but I did it. Even though I got more than enough flak from all those accuracy fanatics. I was even thinking of quitting my build altogether had it not been for some individuals who encouraged me to carry on.

And I still do like this helmet. Not only because of all the work I invested, but I like the looks. I like the symmetry, while still being a recognisable Stormtrooper. Look at the poll who is wearing what kind of armour and take in the number of proud members wearing their MRCE/EFX. As you said all of these troopers did all the extra work, so as long as the bucket is acceptale by modification I see no reason to bash on it all the time (this does not mean you personally). At least add "out of the box", because everything else is discriminating exactly the work all these troopers have put in those buckets.

  3. So I guess your only OT TK helmet so far is a Rubies, MR/EFX or Hasbro? All very accurate....

No, MRCE/EFX is made from a Laserscan of an original helmet, so it is not completely selfmade...

P.S. I don't see why everyone is always bashing at the MRCE/EFX. Compared to the FX helmets of yore, this is such an increase of accuracy.

  4. I expected the theoretical release for December/January, and the delivery 1-2 months later.

So they are still perfect on target.

Believing to have them, maybe even build, for ep 7 release was ridicuolous from the start.

Exactly my thoughts, too. I expect delivery in february to be the earliest dispatch, but it would not even surprise me if it would then take 1-2 months more for tier 1.

@All those new to TK-armour-building: Have patience my young Padawa... I mean Troopers to be! ;) We know how you feel, because we felt the same at some point when we were awaiting our first kit. But know this: It will be worth it! ( imagine Jedi/Sith mindtrick gesture) :yoda:

  5. Guys, are you aware this is the Anovos TK-Armour thread and not the "is Battlefront canon thread"? This thread is partly straying off anyway, but your out of topic discussion about the game being canon or not is from another galaxy.

Why not opening another thread about the canon topic? Maybe one of the admins would be so kind and put your comments about it over there?

I'm neither trying to offend anyone or being offended myself, but its hard reading if you trying to follow the original topic and it gets hijacked by off-topic discussions.

Also, there may be others on this board not interested in the Anovos TK-Armour, but in Battlefront and itrs impact on the StarWars Universe. Therefore a thread of its own would also include more people to partake.

  6. I guess it depends. I use snaps everywhere. One good reason to use velcro is on the thighs in the backs. I just had two applicants who glued them too large, and now are unhappy with a request to trim them down. Much pain could have been avoided if they had used velcro first and only glued them after a troop or two when they know what would work.

Or alterantively they could have tried them on with tape to see if they would fit, then afterwards trim accordingly and glue them together. I always test fitted my armour parts and measure, measure, measure! Better to measure one time more than simply glue things together.

  7. This can be really frustrating. There are a heap of skinny trooper threads but threads for big troopers and shimming are rare.

What helped me most is I went through the TK-Members and then I PMed a centurion with a bigger stature. Troopers helping troopers at its best.

  8. Straight from their FB page.

ANOVOS Hi Kamin, we can tell you that it is ABS, but thickness may vary from piece to piece. .060" (thinner) to .090” (thicker) depending on what was more important---durability or detail.

That's no news... Anovos did make this info public on their FAQ page for their classic TK months ago... see here:

  9. First of all thanks for the "cute white fluffy bunnies sitting on rainbow next to a cute puppy."-modification that really made my day! :laugh1:

Second when compared to the pics we got until now, I see some very detailed crystal clear parts, which is a good thing! I agree with Paul the pulling process does look not that professional. On the other hand we do not know in which stage of production these vids were made, maybe they did learn by doing. In the end as a customer I do not care that much about the pulling process but the final product.

To compare a totally new armourer to the established elite we know for years and even worse to FX by just looking at the pics and vids is a little odd to me. What the pics do tell me is this armour is leagues apart from FX and will somewhat raise the standards for those who got it cheap, especially our newcomers. Its true ranking among other types of armour in terms of quality and durability is yet to be seen. In the end it all depends on the builder and how he approaches his armour build.

  10. I have this fantasy. You know how swear words get transformed on FISD into something less offensive? The forum software can be configured to do that to anything really.

There is a good chance that I will make it so that anytime anyone uses the word Anovos on the forum it is transmogrified into "cute white fluffy bunnies sitting on rainbow next to a cute puppy."

    (not really)

I'd love to read this! :P

  11. Stop worrying about the Stunt Helmet/Hero belt configuration. This is perfectly screen-accurate after all:

Yeah, if you find a single GMO, who thinks the same. I had to get me another belt for the very same reason: 4 rivets instead of 2! Remember you have to specify which TK you're building. Crossovers are not allowed...
