for the helmet I used a screw and nut so that I could take it back apart if I ever wanted to. While they pop riveted it for the movies I don't see why I would ever do that. I use screw caps that cover the inside to make it clean. It also lets me take the helmet apart if I ever had to and not take a drill to it. I've seen holes get torn through things when doing that.

  2. Hi Guys

I'm sorta on the fence as to how I want my Helmet to look...

Clean or beaten, ANH or ESB.

Clean, all assembled and painted white.

Beaten, All assembled with HDEP showing thru, but not too much.

Is it acceptable to have a weathered TK armor and a helmet a with "HDEP" look?

Also I do like ANH and ESB for specific reasons..

ANH, because its the first time you see Stormtroopers.

ESB, because it would fit well with my Boba Fett, possibly the Helmet like this one seen in the corridor of cloud city.

    thx for looking.

    thx

    Arnold

  3. I think he just put it back but didn't care it it was dead on accurate.

it he really took the time he could get it close.

For some additional info to the thread TE did reintroduce a bump back into his Molds.

    ---------

slightly diff than the on screen size & location, maybe due to the pull?

    ---------

glad your keeping the feature :)in

  4. Thats what I see, not the bump/blob thats on TM cheeks.

    recessed line = accurate

bump = not so much ;)

This is from the recently discovered helmet in the UK

The oval shape is what you would get if you carved an oval into your face plate mould. It's just a recessed line . Not a raised blob

  5. I sure he did.. but from pics I've seen of these cheek bumps.. his still look wrong.

On the screen helmets, they are more like a oval line than a bump.

Yes, most makers have the ROTJ origins, but the helmet have ANH origins.. so I feel that that has more credibility.

Though if I had the cash I'd get a set of TM.

but I feel the TM pulls are too sharp.

    Arnold

TM has done a huge amount of research into his armour, that combined with the fact that ALL the other replica suits are based on a ROTJ set of armour make his suit more accurate than any other out there for ANH or ESB.

  6. Hey QT,

In reality I could make my kit in a box...

But my wife and I are having a baby and we live in a condo.

I don't want my wife smelling any fumes or have plastic shavings all over the place.

And she is understanding when i was TOTALLY in to my Fett suit. So I want to be fair and give her quality time.

This is just a hobby.. I can do this any time, also I want to take my time on this to get it accurate.

I want to make it as close to a movie suit. so that will take time and not 2 weeks.. IMO :D

I don't know when I'll start the build up but it may be in the summer when I have more room.

Arnold you don't need a lot of room to build your armor. You can even do it in a closet. Why wait in the summer when you can do an hour a day on one piece at a time and your suit will be ready in 2 weeks.

  7. Thx,

I'll have to check them out in my computer once I get home , my iPhone won't zoom in for some reason.

    Hi mate,

I do these for £3.50 a pair finished as is plus post.

    P1010387.jpg

They are one piece casts, painted with the mesh, you're probably not interested if you want the top end but they are clean casts and cheap.(click on the pic and you can see them better)

idea was to have ok tips at a good price to start off with, I know what its like when you start buying this stuff :-), you don't stop.

I will be doing a run soon and had some interest but I can do you a one off set ASAP if you want some. Only thing not sure of is post to canada but if you want some I will find out.

    All the best mate.

    Gra

  8. Thx guys...

    @ RogueTrooper,

thx for the info.. thats why I say slow build..lol

there is so much details that I need to re-learn when it comes to troopers.

I know a bit about ESB fett but the Stormtrooper is just as crazy.

In your opinion of the 3 Hovi, which do you recommend, as far as accurate?

Have fun Arnold!! take lots of pix when you work on your AP build!

BTW, the neck trim, and hovis that come with the AP kit are not accurate.

Mike has the neck trim, + other things: http://members.cox.net/appstronaut/tk4510_decals.html

  9. Hi guys n gals,

I thought I share the first pics of my AP set.

I received these shortly after Christmas… I had an FX suit wayyyy back. I sold that suit to get a more accurate one, forward to 10 years later.

Wow this suit is amazing, It beats the FX suit hands down.

I don't know when I'll start the build up but it may be in the summer when I have more room.

Here, is a pic of it outta the box and the next pic is the helmet mocked up with my Fett helmet.

I do have updated pics of my helmet, with the ears trimmed, I'll post it later today.

    thx

  10. Hi,

    QT..

thx for the flickr photos, I have seen those a few weeks back and have bookmarked them.

What I mean by painting my AP is. the whole suit with a milky white rattle can.

    not just the little details.

    has anyone done that?

    quote name='Quebectrooper' timestamp='1293998889' post='168232']

i painted my AP helmet, chest, back and ab. It was all parts that needed repairs so i did and made it look good.

    here's a great AP tutorial:

  11. Hey guys...

Well my AP came in last Thurs. and I am so cheesed :D!

I was looking at the builds that many of you have posted and I was wondering would it be wrong to paint the armor and helmet? I don't know if I like the super white look of it.

I think I'll make mine an ESB version to go with my Boba Fett.

Does anyone have suggestions on paint, tutorials or links...etc

also do I use the strips to cover the seams like in the ANH armor, or is that just an ANH thing.

One thing I did notice was that the pull is thin compared to my old craptacular FX suit... and wow the helmet is waaaayy smaller than the toilet bowl FX had you put on you head..lol

thx in advance and pls post ANY advice or thoughts.

    Arnold

ps I'll post pics later in the week.
