Having the same problem with Clonetroopers.net, won't let me in but won't let me set up an account because e-mail is already in use.
-
I'd love to see this up close sometime - I'm in northern VA but I try to get up to MD to troop with OLG at least once a year. Do you plan on trooping with this, or will it be a display-only model?
Yes I plan on trooping with it if I ever get my armor done. It is glued together, now I have to strap it and get approved.
I would love to add electronics to it, but I need some help with that. All of the led and sound kits for blasters are out of stock.
-
That looks sweet....so does the MG 34! Looks like the real deal there. I couldn't get a real one...had to scratch build mine but Hopefully the troops will approve.
yes, made it from a parts kit. More pictures of it are in the Blaster thread.

The one I made for my dlt19 is 1 3/8 x 4 1/4.

Nice work!
Thanks, now to finish my armor

I have finished the dlt-19

now that it is done I am thinking about adding a blaster core

The ones in my real sterling are 1/4 - 20

Aren't these kits really hard to get now?
They were pretty cheap about 8 years ago.
you can still find some complete parts kits, they are really expensive now. I bought this one in pieces, receiver and some other parts came from Sarco, some came from brpguns and some from gunbroker.com Hardest part to find was the barrel shroud.

Awesome!! Very cool David. Are you going to run an electronic module (sound/lights)in it?
thought about it, but I'm not that familiar with the electronics. I could probably add them later, any suggestions on what type to use?
-
Other than the weight savings, is there a reason why you're not using the barrel?
just weight savings the barrel alone weighs almost 5 lbs
-
Looks great!
So, how much does it weigh?
15 lbs, knew it was going to be heavy. Most of the parts on a MG34 are machined. I could probably shave about 2 - 3 lbs by getting rid of some of the feed tray mechanism.
I have a hyperfirm also, when I get this one finished I'll take a side by side picture.

Outstanding work, you have some great metal skills.
thanks, wish I would have taken pictures during the welding. was worried about legal issues until I had the steel block welded in.
-
closeup of the interrupted threads in the rear of the receiver. these were torch cut through, had to weld it together then grind some of the threads so the buffer would attach.
barrel - not going to be used, probably put it on gunbroker.com
strips and disc, still to be attached, also still have to make the battery box.

left side receiver assembly
right side receiver assembly
complete left side
complete right side

Parts used in assembly
receiver group
trigger group
buttstock & buffer, it is wood not bakelite. bakelite was too costly.
shroud and bipod

Another blaster from real demiled parts. Didn't take pictures during the welding and grinding but here is how it turned out.
What I started with.
after welding, grinding and rebluing
front weld, you can see the torch cut inside
center weld, with mandatory piece of steel to keep a real bolt from being installed
rear weld

I'd love to see some photos of the demilitarized MG34 and the conversion process to a DLT19. In it's own build thread, of course. AFAIK you'd be the first person here to have done so.
Unfortunately didn't take pictures of the welding & grinding process. Receiver was in 4 pieces to start and at first I didn't think it was going to turn out. Did a better job of lining things up and welding than I expected, and after some reblueing it looks ok. It has a wood stock, not exactly screen accurate, but the bakelite stocks are just too expensive.

Good looking blaster there. Looks almost real.
Thanks, almost have a dlt 19 finished it's made from a demiled MG34.

Your Hengstler is a little off, what part did you use for that? Or is that some counter variant that you used?
It's not an "Eagle" Hengstler, that much I can tell.
Are these made from metal?
Its a Hengstler variant, plastic and no eagle. Still trying to find one of those, didn't like the looks of a resin counter. It is stuck on with the double sided tape used to hold car molding on so if and when I find a real Hengstler I can change it.
-
Yep, works now.
What receiver tube did you end up using for it? Looks good!
J
Thanks, Made it out of 1 1/2" tube and used a template. Trimmed the original parts down and then cut the tube to match those parts, then welded them together.

The left side image-link isn't working
Other than that it looks pretty darn good. Working on one of these myself.

Try the left side link now, should work. Where did you get your tube ?? I used 1 1/2" DOM tube (thinner that original to keep weight down and make it legal) and a template to make my tube, then I cut down the original parts and tube to match then welded them together. Probably should have took more pictures during the build.

Just finished my E-11. Started with an Apex Sterling Kit, hoping it will meet EIB standards.
-
The screen used suits had no return at all at the wrist hence Pauls advice - I would go with that
Thanks, I trimmed it down so that I will have a 15mm cover strip. Seems to work, I still have return to remove at the wrist so if they had no return at all at the wrist I should have more room. I am waiting for my abs glue for the seams. going to use 6000 for the cover strips. so while I have been waiting I started trimming and using tape to check the fit.
Thanks again for the help, I will probably be asking more questions.

It depends on your build and what looks right. I'm a bit bigger dude so I made strips a bit bigger because my arms are bigger. AP has lots of extra space, so over trim and work your way down until you get a good fit.
I have big hands, if I did the overlap they fit great, just cutting it down made it a bit tight.
