  1. Yep, leave it flat and put a balaclava on - it's the best way I found, as you can evenly spread the hair around your head and won't get any problems closing your neckseal or putting on the lid. Long hair is easy, I remember one guy on the MEPD had dreadlocks

Just imagining a head full of dreads cramped up in a balaclava/helmet for a few hours is quite enough. I wonder how that smells afterwards?

On a related note, do the balaclavas breathe easily? I have decent length hair and was considering the purchase of one, but I'm not sure how neckseal+helmet+balaclava would hold up in Florida heat!

Current issue to fix though - how to get the gloves and forearm to fit over a splint.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery!

  2. Not exactly. The PVC nipple goes in first. Glue the speaker to the inside of the PVC cap. The speaker should not touch the PVC nipple at all. Make sure there is a slight gap between them when you install the cap. The Hovi refers to the entire black cone and screen. I recommend glueing that on last so that you can see thru the PVC nipple while installing the cap/speaker assembly. FYI the pVC nipple has a smaller diameter than the speaker so the speaker cannot fit inside it.

    Thanks!

Where did you get those hovis?

I'm definitely thinking about trying your setup!

  3. Since you are going to need to cut the "vents" out of the decals anyway, cut the entire decal out but don't peel it off the backing. Carefully cut the vent slots out. Position this over the trap on the back of your lid and lightly tape it in place. with a sharpie, draw in the vent slots onto the lid. Rmove the decal and this will then be your guide for cutting out the slots. Then just position you decal over this for the final application. Hope this helps!

So the decal will still be use-able after being taken off and re-applied?

Also I was just assuming you could use the vent line itself as a cut-along-the-lines kind of deal, no?

  4. Hey Wyatt,

I'd love to order one of these, if you could email or PM me the necessary information I'll have your payment by my next paycheck, I just need to outrun an Imperial Blockade first.

    Email is cotoole@mail.usf.edu

Also did we ever discover what the red buttons were for?

  5. The RT-Mod might be a little loose on you, but you can also use padding to compensate and trim down some of the areas. Also the RT-Mod does come pre-trimmed, so you wouldn't have as much work to do except for making it fit to your body frame.

What can you do to fit the suit to different body shapes?

Help would be amazing, and I think I am going to try to get my hands on some TM armor (selling my motorcycle to afford it, hee hee). Does that come with the black underneath or do I have to buy that separately?

You need to (usually) buy the undersuit separately, I've read people using UnderArmor body suits or even dive skins.

Go to the electronic section and search the posts.

    :)

    What is it like?

Also I've searched around and the only thing I could come up with was ----------- and there weren't really as many reviews or comments as there were people saying "I want one"

I'm really wondering what they sound like and how they fit in, along with how much cooling they provide; basically I'm looking to buy one set of electronics for my bucket and be set.

  7. Well I finally made the decision to start getting stuff for a TK suit. I attended Celebration V as a Tatooine Luke and fell in love (again) with the 501st and all the troopers there, but the event itself was what finally convinced me to make the move towards getting a suit.

I've made a thread with tons of questions as my first post (link here, I'd appreciate any answers or help), and I realized that it would be a little bit more polite to post an introduction on the new members' forum.

Anyway, glad to be a part of this website, and as soon as I get my armor and such together I'd love to become a part of any local garrisons for the Florida area, not too sure where to look up that info though.

I'm definitely looking forward to getting all of this stuff together, and this forum is a great place for information and advice, great to be here!

  8. Hi;

I like the system. Like I noted it does not distort your voice any, but the reception is very clear. It fits nice in the bucket, but is probably best with someone with a smaller head. I have an RT-Mod helmet and it fit ok, but then I could not easily get the bucket on. The system would probably work very well in an FX.

Isn't the RT set one of the larger sized ones? I have a pretty decently sized head and was thinking about getting one of those with a Skullworks set, but after reading your comment about the helmet being a tough fit I'm having second thoughts.

Also, how is the aeration from the fans that it comes with/where did you install yours?

I think it would be pretty helpful for everyone if someone made a video or recording of the set up; the one provided from the web site is pretty lame.

  9. Thanks for the answers so far!

I'd still love to hear from anyone that has any experience with the skullworks set, or any other mostly all-in-one package for helmet electronics.

Also, averaging most of the manufacturers and specifics (I'm not asking you to favor a manufacturer because I'm very aware that is frowned down upon), but what should be a minimum or average price range for a good helmet? I'm thinking ABS definitely, and maybe the ANH stunt helmet.

Edit: I was looking at the thread with the basic listing of manufacturers and I was wondering if being 5'12'' and ~190 pounds would necessitate going for one of the larger kits listed (AM, RT, TM). And if I decide to do that, does contacting the manufacturer simply consist of shooting them an email saying "hey I'd like a stormtrooper helmet" or what?

  10. Hey all, I've been considering getting armor and a helmet for a while now but I've finally made the decision to do it. I'm saving up and looking up resources, but since there's so much online it can get pretty overwhelming sometimes.

So I just have a few questions about getting started and armor details.

    1. Are all the eye lenses green? I have never seen a helmet where the lenses on the outside look green, but when I look at all the for-sale helmets they're all green.

    2. I've been looking to get just a helmet for now, but I've heard that you can't really separate the purchases, and that you have to buy the whole deal instead. Is this generally true?

    3. What would be the most decently bang-for-your-buck place to get a helmet? I'm thinking the ESB one, but personally I really can't tell the difference between the helmet models

    4. As far as helmet hardware goes, I was looking at the Skullworks set that pretty much includes everything. Has anyone had any experience with this and/or would you recommend a better alternative?

Sorry if these questions have been asked a billion times before!
