  1. Hi guys,

As I said in that "help" thread, I picked up an unused FX kit today for $300. I know the helmet is frowned upon by the modern standards, but what about the armor? I have an AM kit that I bought and built as a TD, but either I will build this kit as a TK, or I am going to use it for my wife so she can join the legion.

I would really like to use this kit if at all possible. Its kind of funny opening a complete kit from 2004 ( I was off a few years in my early estimate, but it still has the recepit.

    Giant helmet and all :D

  2. I am looking at a kit today that was purchased in 2006-2007 and was shipped from Suisun, CA. The owner was in the military overseas in Iraq when it was bought, so he is not sure of the maker. Its been in a closet for half a decade untouched and unopened. Naturally, I will get some pics today, but I was hoping someone might know the maker from the city it came from.

Those triangular pieces might be for the left knee. If its gonna be a sandtrooper you'll have to change the ab detail pieces too.

The helmet looks great, keep that piece. Oh, and your hand plates were upside down

You could easily get what you paid for (and more) if you decided to sell it and buy a kit.

I thought I had the plates upside down :)

This is a pic of the accessories that came with it, it does have one or two ab plate covers and some other stuff.

How long is the wait on a new AM kit anyway? I was looking to get something that I can start on right away and this one popped up, so I snagged it. The helmet didnt come with the kit, thats one a buddy of mine made. I actually have 2 different ones on in the pics.

  4. The whole kit cost me 500 plus it came with an ATA helmet kit, pouches, pauldron, some triangle things that I still dont know what they are and a few other pieces. All that was missing (that I know of) was the boots cause they were way too small, gloves (too small) and waiting on the neck seal (which is prob too small as well, lol)

I put everything on and took a few pics without adjusting anything. The straps were tight on one side, lookse on the other, one of the side straps had no hook, so I think with a little time and adjusting it can fit me "good" but not perfect. I think if I add shims on the sides, maybe on the calves and forearms too, it can come together as a nice kit, it just depends on how much extra $$ I am looking at.

Worst case, I am sure someone can use this kit and I can just buy a new one. I have lost 15 lbs since february 1st, plan on dropping another 15-20, so I am going to avoid any cutting or permanent adjustments till then. I was really hoping to troop this one soon, but it still needs work.

I dont think I look horrible in it, but you can see that it needs works

Sorry about the bare feet :)

I think I can remove some padding from the calves and get a little spare room for starters, the forearms are not going to work without cutting though. Ahhh, the joys of costuming :)

  5. Well, I finally bought a set of used armor that hasn't been trimmed up, and I am having issues with it fitting. I bought an old FX kit, its really nice, but apparently I am too big for it at 6' and 235 lbs. Mt hands cant fit through the forearm armor, and there is way too much gap between the chest and back plate. What should I do? Would it be better to buy the few pieces and bash a kit together, or sell this whole suit and just buy a larger set of armor?

    Looks great too :(

  6. So, I was fortunate enough to trade off my vader helmet for 2 trooper helmets last week. What do you guys think? I got a battle damaged TK and a TD all customized to my liking. Pretty sweet looking I think, now I need a shiny white to go wth these!

  7. Well, I am buying that sandtrooper set that was in the marketplace for a few days for 525. I have an eFx helmet and its BIG on my head (its in my avatar). I am missing more parts for it than its worth to hunt them down, so thats just going to be one to goof off with the kids in.

I bought an under armor suit, so other than gloves, boots that are going to fit, and a new helmet, I should be just about ready to go. I wanted to do some checking on the armor before I paid for it just to save any potential headaches in the future with it not fitting. I plan on dropping about 20 lbs (dont we all) so I think it will be a good fit then. It wont be the most accurate out there, the armor is a little older than som eothers, but I am sure it will make a nice set up as a secondary costume to my Vader. I love the look of the suit all dirty and grimy, so the small details are going to be missed by the majority of people who see it anyway. I think if this one goes well, I may opt to do a shiny white TK as well and spend a few more bucks to get it as screen accurate as it can be. This set seemed like a great deal, so why not jump on it and get a big leg up on my next suit!

  8. Hi guys, figured its time to start asking questions now that Vader is done! I am 6' tall and weigh 230 lbs, which armor would be better for me to get? I have seen various sizes, I don't want anything too big or too small.

I am looking at an FX kit with an ata helmet, is this a good start for someone of my natural sexiness, or should I get something larger? One of the guys in my garrison just got some "tupperware" armor, he is a little bigger than I am though.

    discuss :)

  9. ATA lids are pretty awesome!

Bleh, my approval is still pending. I need to tone down my body suit on Vader, I was told it was a little to shiny. Other than that, its good to go, just havent had time to figure that one out!

I posted a WTB thread just to get the missing parts. Obviously the helmet isnt all that great, so I will pick up one of the others when I do get my access

  10. Thanks! Man you guys are good! I dont think its a recast, but then again, I dont know much about it. Where can I locate these missing parts? Are they even available?

I actually bought the WRONG shirt, I thought I had the "I had friends on the Death Star" with a TIE fighter on it!

Better question, should I find the missing parts or scrap the idea and start fresh with a better helmet?

  11. FX or recast FX. The eyes and cheek tubes are big, and the vocoder is missing.

  12. Hi guys. I signed up here a few months ago when I was still finishing up my Vader and am finally getting around to posting a bit. I bought a helmet a few months ago that was incomplete. I didnt know it was incomplete, and I paid 125 bucks for it, so needless to say I was a bit mummed.

Anyway, can someone help me figure out what this is and where I can get my parts to finish it up? I really want to start on my TK or possibly a sandtrooper.
