  1. okay found all kinds of stuff on glue here, but now I'm more confused  I see people using super glue, epoxy, plastic bonds, ABS glue, and even hot glue. Since I have worked with epoxies before I think I will go that route, but I'm lost on the difference between an epoxy and plastic bond. I thought they were the same. Am I way off on that? If so which is better?

  2. then after you glue BOTH seams with super glue, and or CA glue,re-enforce the seam on the inside...then you can put foam inside so it fits your arm beter B) the only thing you should have velcro on is the back seam of the shins :)

A lot of great advice guys thanks! :) Only question just to make sure, if I glue both seams won't that leave a wide gap around my wrists? I mean the end would have to be big enough to put my hand through right since both seams are sealed. Do you have a pic of the front view of the forearms where the hand comes thorough?

  3. I just started building my AP armor and started on the forearm pieces. I having a little difficulty putting them together. I have it all trimmed like I want, but it just seems like the top flares out too much over the bottom piece. When I squeeze it it fits like I want, but I'm not sure if it looks at all right. I attached a couple pics from the inside and the outside of the forearm. Really need some advice, but please be gentle it's my first build...

  4. Definitely helps :) I'll look into AP then for my first set. Maybe go with TE2 for a later set. Just one thing, I have heard briefly read about all these different sets of armor. Are all these 501st quality? Also, who would I talk to about getting an AP kit?

if you are not a top prop builder, I wouldn't suggest getting the TE2 first off, becaue TE-2 is made out of the same material as the original which varies in color, which means that you would have to pint the armor after fiting it to yourself on top of all the other work you will be doing...the AP kit is made out of glossy white ABS and is easy to work with...TM armor is made of styrene which I forget how to spell  and is easy to work with also, but is out of the UK :) I hope this helps
  5. Thanks for the pic! This helps a whole lot :) Looks like FX will be much too big for me since I'm only 5'9" I've done just a little reading and I'm kinding of thinking TE-2 might be the way for me to go, but still not entirely sure

It looks like you found the right place to start :) Welcome to the FISD, just remember that the FX doesn't look very well for people under 6-3" + here is a comparison pic of an FX next to the more accurate armor's such as the "TE-2", "TM" and or the "AP"

  6. Hey all,

I'm wanting to put together a stormtrooper costume of 501st quality and have very little idea where to start. If anyone has any advice that would be outstanding :) I'm not totally new to the costuming world, I have a failry decent Boba costume, but not up to 501st standards I'm afraid. Maybe someday B)

But for now I'm wanting a stormtrooper. :)
