I've known about the 501st for a few years, and I've been doing various costumes for fun for much longer than that, so I have some costuming experience which I hope I can apply.
I have a home made Alien costume (inspired by the cockroach style head from the second movie) that I made several years ago, complete with vacuformed head. I've also done a few SW related costumes (some I won't mention as people are very polarized by certain SW characters
Regardless, my first costume I made myself when I was a kid was a Stormtrooper helmet, when I was 8 years old. I had a plastic kids play motorcycle helmet that I cut the visor off of, used a flat piece of cardboard bent in half for the "face", cut out the eyes and drew in the mouth. The side tubes were made from paper towel cardboard tubes, then I painted the whole thing white with house paint. I think my family got a kick out of it, as did my elementary school teacher.
Anyways, I remember being floored by the 501st at the Rose parade video on Youtube, and I just knew I had to start doing a proper TK of my own - that's why I'm here. I've been reading up for the last few months, researching all the tutorials and trying to get caught up on all the lingo. Maybe one day, my TK will be good enough for the 501st.
I do have a question to start - am I supposed to be on this site or should I be contacting people on "Badlands" as they are the Canadian garrison? I tried registering there but the registration link seems broken.
