  1. some of the neckseals I've seen in person are too dull in color, or too shiny... the wrong number of rows, ect.

I've even seen tapered neckseals with partial rows... is that SA?

can anyone in this thread point the way to an 11 row, correct color, velcro neckseal?

I talked with Nicole and she is going to work on an eleven row neck seal. She said she had a problem with them coming out right (being too long from chin to chest). She is a great person to deal with...if she sends me pictures I'll post them.

  2. Is there any more information than this? It would be a greater courtesy to include a picture and perhaps a personal review of this product and perhaps even a pix of you wearing it. Else it's hard to say, isn't it?

Good point, I'll do what I can. The neck sizes are like a dress shirt size, 15-19. I went with 19, wanting bigger to give me some room.

The extra material around the neck fit well underneath the shirt. Nice solid feel around the neck for mobility and strong velcro. I haven't washed it yet so I'm not sure how that will wash. Granted, I'm new to this and this is my first neck seal. I'd be interested if anyone could compare this one with another. I have some pics but I have to resize them to get them on here.

  3. I'm struggling to find exactly what kind of fans to put in a helmet. I've found some information on how to wire it, and a little on what to look for but wondered if these were OK. I plan on getting a ATA helmet so I'm not sure on size/space available. I've mostly seen 40mm fans, but didn't know if 50mm would work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  4. Welcome to FISD. I'm in Des Moines. Depending on how much money you want to spend you have plenty of options. I went with the least expensive route, with an FX lite kit and a MRCE helmet. And I am very happy with my results. We have great people who can help you every step of the way. My pics are posted on my profile. You need to stop by the central garrison and say hi too. Hope to troop with ya someday soon.

I appreciate any help I can get TK-1842. You have quite a nice setup after looking at your pics. That would be my goal to be where you are. Des Moines is a bit of a trek, I hope to find something around that's closer but it's not out of the question. Never know when I need to take the kids to Adventureland!

  5. It is not a unique and handcrafted zippered neck seal. ;)

Definitely see the forum boards for that specialty! :D Was that a good plug?

Glad to hear you're on the mend oiftanker. My son just got over eye surgery and complications with a staph infection. It is amazing how that can turn you world upside down. He's feeling much better and we go back to the doctor tomorrow for the third dr. visit to get the all clear (I hope)!

  6. I just bought mine off of Nicole Matkowsky (anmat1124@msn.com). She is an Ebay seller but also will just sell straight out if you email her your size. They tend to be a bit snug so go a half size or so bigger, this worked out for me because I asked a previous ebay auction winner of hers. It is an eight ribbed neck seal with a little material to fit under your undersuit/under armour. She is very pleasant to deal with and very accommodating. A nice cotton 8-rib neck seal with velcro closure in the back shipped for $17.50 isn't bad.

  7. A possible option is a hard shell golf travel case. You see those taking a beating but still come out ok. Granted you might be paying for the convenience. They are definitely long enough, you could bubble wrap or foam fit the pieces too. This is if you plan to do alot of flying with your armor to make it worth it or just another project. Here are some possibilities:

  8. Timmer,

Thanks for the info, I've been staying up nights just reading all the posts. I've written questions down and just start using that "must have" search button. With the info you gave, you said I didn't need to put aerator speakers in but there's something about having everything in your helmet that just says "stormtrooper" to me. There's a guy here that is selling small aerator speakers for $11 (Launchpad). I thought I'd try those with this amp. Now the wiring of said speakers is going to interesting, any help there would be appreciated. The speaker in the SEA Scott amp has a plastic "computer" connection, can I get those or use those with the aerator speakers or how does one attach them to the amp. I don't know, maybe once everything comes in, I'll see how loud each is. I guess I should also get a helmet and armor together too!

I'm starting with the small accessories so it isn't as noticeable on my budget and still researching the armor/helmet selections. If you were to do it all over again at this point, where would you start, armor-wise? I'm really thinking about the ATA kit or FX. Bigger guy needs bigger armor.

  9. Thanks to all for the kind words. I stayed up last night with the ever-so-needed search function looking up all sorts of stuff. I'm a bit groggy today but it was worth it. There is so much more than I thought! It might take another year just to decide on what I need. That's the fun of it though!

  10. I have decided to take the plunge and start saving for some armor. I'm buying the bits and pieces here and there but haven't found an armor provider that I trust with my money. I've researched for about a year with what armor is available and would fit me but without firsthand knowledge things are tough. Hopefully sifting through the forums and talking with my GML, I can make this happen.

I'm 34, I'm an avid Star Wars collector of vintage and modern stuff including figures, movie props, autographs, legos, and books. I mainly frequent rebelscum.com but also yakface.com as well. I'm excited to start the process, any help would be much appreciated.
