Resurrecting this thread, we've got a Star Wars LARP event going on this October in Bolivar, Missouri which uses airsoft for the combat, and this thread came up. We've got a lot of guys planning on coming in armor to pew pew for two days. Mostly Mudtroopers and Mandos.
The leader of the event, Chris Schulz, posted his testing results showing how well ABS can take an airsoft hit:
QuoteI too have blasted my 1/16" Vac formed ABS. Used my m133 on sport mode for 1 second (50 rounds) point blank @1.4j w/.32s. Had a little paint come (barely worth noting) off but no damage to the armor itself.
We also recommend stronger eye lenses, full seal ANSI Z87 rated material such as welding lenses is required.

Yes that's Right I'm going to make a Custom airsoft weapon that looks like a Storm-Trooper Blaster and go to airsoft event's as a Storm-Trooper
That's cool, cogdill. I've got some plans in the works for an airsoft E-11 as well and I'm happy to compare notes. Feel free to send me a PM.

I'm currently designing an airsoft E-11. My biggest problem so far is finding out which type of gearbox will fit in the little 1.25" tube. I'll definitely be showing my progress as I proceed!

You'll probably want to post this in the Imperial Officer forum. There's a WTB thread for the IN helmet.

Advice for TK armor airsoft compatibility
in Hard Armor (General Discussion)

John, can you tell us more about what material your armor is made of? Based on our testing, holes seem unlikely. I'm interested in hearing more about the damage that you say is happening when you airsoft in TK armor.
