  1. I will be at my shop tomorrow which is right next to home depot. I can pick up a roll and ship it to you at cost. PM me, thanks

Just got a new armour kit the other day so I'm in need of a roll or two of white sticky backed industrial strength velcro. I've only found one place in New Zealand selling this stuff and they're charging $107 USD per roll (about 2.25 metres worth ).

I've heard this stuff is easy to get in the US and relatively cheap. I've had a look on ebay but I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for, so a point in the right direction would be very much appreciated

    Thanks troopers!

  2. Ive got spares, FX ones in ABS. PM me, ill hook you up.

Hey, Craig. Thanks very much for your response! I appreciate it!

I've been watching eBay too, but so far the only listings I've seen for drop boxes have been for ones made out of GRP (fiberglass) and not ABS. I'm a little concerned about a mismatch in color.

That same listing is located in England as well, and while I'm a pretty huge anglophile, I'd rather not shell out for international shipping on an item so realtively small.

Basically, what I'm sayin' is that I'm cheap and picky. :P How's that for a lousy combo? Hehe..

  3. One thing about Styrene is it yellows pretty badly as well, in a substantially short amount of time compared to ABS. My ABS after 7 years is still eye popping white. Just dont let either one sit and bake in the sun...

Well thanks for all the opinions so far...I am only asking because I was offered a TE.,..not a TE2 helmet in styrene...just wondering if its worth it to grab. I know they look amazing from what I have seen in the forums with photos, I just want it to last. And Gunz, I dont plan on doing any human canon ballin in it either..thanks.
  4. Pretty funny how an act like this will not go un-noticed by Imperial Forces all over the world!! LOL....Actually, no I was not there; my wifes best Friends Mother lives there and saw him and traffic and called her freaking over it. Said the sight of it was off the hook....

A pal of mine told me that he saw that biking trooper too. No idea who it was.

How'd you hear about it? Were you in H-town, Eric?

  5. Windex or water, either will work. Have a few paper towels handy. Wet the helmet, wet the decal. Put it on and it will be like hot butter sliding around on your helmet. Get the decals into place where you like them. Then, using your thumbs start "squeegie-ing" or pressing the water out of the decals. Start in the center of the decal and with your thumbs push outwards to get out the liquid from under the decal. Dab it with your paper towel to absorb the liquid. DO NOT panic if your decals are so wet they they actually curl back onto your thumbs, its typical. Just keep thumbing away and eventually as you thumb and dab they will adhere. Once they start to adhere, get out any bubbles and that's it. I just did a helmet 2 hours ago with this method and it rocks, I used straight water and it worked fine. FX helmet took me about 8 minutes for all the decals.

i am finishing up my bucket and i dont know how to put the decals..... i heard of using windex.... but im not sure i really heard the whole process. Also i am thinking about sanding the bottom of the helmet to be able to put it on without screwing it on any thoughts?????
  6. LOL...Scott that's a first, wal mart trash can, I love it! Hey everyone, be sure to look for Scott on TV tonight, in armor at the World Series Game 3!

I actually used a vinyl trash can from Wal Mart. I cut two strips, and riveted it to the kidney plate. Then I used Industrial Velcro on the inside of my ab plate, and get it to hold that way. Once the belt is on, it holds everything in place, and does not give. I bought a different Kidney plate and Butt plate, so I will be very interested to see all the options here, as I want to use it with my FX ab plate and close the gap again. The vinyl is flexible, and the velcro keeps it from opening up. I have not had any issues with bending over and such, so it has worked for me.
  7. try checking out primers, they have some greys that might be a match...

I went looking for the "hardhat grey" paint for my helmet the other night but no go. I did find and buy a "mystic Grey" epoxy paint that looked just like what i believe the hardhat to look like. My question is, do you think this would be okay to use on the helmet? or should i trot my an impolite person back to Lowes and take it back and keep searching for Hardhat Grey? I know i know, its all about personal preference, but I am a lemming...tell me what to d! hahah
  8. Correct, you are shorting out the battery big time

Use the search box for fan wiring. This happens all too often. What you're doing is connecting the + and - from the fan to switch as well as the + and - of the battery. Connect the - from the fan and battery directly (not the switch) then connect the + from the fan and battery to the separate posts on the switch.
  9. Let us know what kind of speakers they are, I would to upgrade my helmet to micros that can handle volume!

It also depends on the speaker. I've seen some smaller speakers put out a heck of a sound. I'm currently looking into the electronics set-up for my bucket, and it looks as if I will be ordering a set with special micro-blasters... a bit of a play on some of the military speaker-phone systems.

Not to mention, it just sounds cool when someone talks to you and you hear their voice comming from their head.

  10. Good point, helmet speakers are easy to deal with but you will get more volume out of the chest set up. Aearator speakers always blow minds though, so they are my preference of the 2 in most events. Sometimes people need more volume for bigger events. I actually do both, I use the aerator set up and then have the chest box mounted at all times and switch to that if I need more volume while I am trooping. To each his own, just my .02.

I had my amp/speakers mounted behind my chestplate..I HATED it..it was LOUD, but the wire running out of my helmet drove ne nuts..I now use arreator speakers with the entire set up contained in my bucket and I love it!..and I painted the inside of my bucket black..cause it looks cool!
  11. Split this into it's own topic. Triktoys, in the future, create your own thread for your product runs.

If someone has inner dimensions of the HOVI tips I can confirm if they will fit. I was told by others they did (but they could have been using other hovi tips that were not from the same run you guys are using.)

  12. Sorry I'm all out for now.

As for the Hyperdyne TrooperPro, I'm not familiar witht the specs, but they should work assuming it doesn't use some off the wall setup.

I have plenty of speakers left if anyone needs them. They are pre-wired, ready to install and should easily fit the HOVI tips. I have full instructions on the wiring schematic for anyone that needs to install existing ones. AND, be advised you will get better volume installing them parallel over series configuration. I can also do them for 13.00 + 1.90 shipping. PM me if anyone needs them.

  13. How about just drilling out the rivets and using new ones to attach the clips?

Here is a link to the conversion kit I purchased on ebay: E-11 conversion kit

One option you could try is triktoys.com. I know he is a little high, but he has a set of aluminum tusks that look almost identical to the hovi-mix (without the ribs). They are slightly larger, and will support small speakers.

Also, I got a set of speakers from SuperTrooper that will work in the hovi-mix tusks. I gto a set, then decided not to add them into my stunt. If you want them, shoot me a PM and we can chat. Here is the thread he listed them on: Areator Speakers
