I use the UA knockoff top at Wal-Mart. They are $13.00 and I bought the pants from Zyflex.  -------------- They used to be $20.00 but looking at the website now, they are up to $29.00.

I trooped 3 years in the 1 piece Diveskin and almost 2 in the 2 piece set. Either one works well. I do like the 2 piece better.

I use these too and got them on sale for about $10 each at Walmart. Mine are actually a little tight as they were on sale so there weren't many left and none in the size I wanted.

But even so they work great and I haven't ever had a skin exposure problem, or an em-bare-an impolite person-ing moment  .

And I've got a lot of skin trying to get loose too!

  2. Alright I gotta toss my two creds in here...

I think if it's in the film and in three or more places it's gotta count!

Now it doesn't mean that it's preferred, but if it's in the films that much, intentional or not...

it is technically, by our own LMO's definition, canon.

Now that being said...who wouldn't want explosives strapped to their butt?

  3. I have devoted an obscene amount of time to Star Wars video games,

but here are my top 10 favs in this order:

1-KOTOR I (best integration of RPG and first-person shooter yet)

2-Battlefronts II (501st timeline, great gameplay, what more could you want?)

3-Jedi Knight: Outcast (I know big shock right)

4-KOTOR II (almost as good as KOTOR I, storyline wasn't as engaging)

5-Jedi Knight: Academy (Great integration of SW movie canon and EU details)

6-Battlefronts I (I thought this was a better multiplaer format than BFII, but no 501st)

7-Repulic Commando (good graphics, fun gameplay, I like the command functions, but like many others too linear)

8-Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight w-Mysteries Of The Sith expansion levels (The pack is a MUST HAVE for this game, this is the game that turned my SW gaming from pastime to obsession)

9-Shadows Of The Empire (Best N64 Star Wars Game Ever)

10-Rogue Squadron (Almost as much fun as SOTE but the "vehicle missions only" thing is a little limiting)

Ps. I have loved all of the SW games, even the ones that sucked by comparison were still fun to play  .

  4. Anti-fog is just baby shampoo and water, ask any diver :D . The only thing that works better is anti-fog "gel" and it's just a little better. Spit although gross works ok too.

I could be wrong but I think some of the newer anti-fog products are isopropyl alcohol and a light wax, I'd have to check to be %100 though.

  5. I'm not the best at making things with photoshop... so I was wondering if there was someone that could help me with this. I am wanting an animated pic that is like the tv "COPS" with the red and blue flashing lights on it...

But instead of saying COPS it would say "MEPD"

and under that would be in "Dune Sea Division" in stencil in white letters...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use Photoshop everyday PM or e-mail me and I'll do what I can to help. ;)

  6. Not all criticism is negative. If you're getting into the whole star was costuming/trooping thing the best advice I can offer is don't take personal offense to a fellow trooper giving critique on your costume. There can be something poorly done or less than stellar and in need of repair about your gear and it has nothing to do with your individual character. I enjoy hearing others thoughts on what I'm wearing, I'd sooner take an unpleasant to hear/realistic comment than blind praise while parts fall off.

For example; "your chest plate needs trimmed or adjusted, its touching your belt" Two reactions possible and I've seen both. 1) "Okay thanks, any advice on how to do that?" 2) "What do you mean!?! I just spent all this money on this and now you are saying its wrong, I thought the 501st was all about trooping this stinks"

I had someone spazz out when they found out the 501st doesn't accept Rubies stormtrooper helmets for membership, but no one told them they weren't eligible, just their goofy helmet. Take it all with a grain of salt, when someone comments on a brand of armor or a nuance of your personal gear, firstly gauge the level of validity their opinion has (do they even know what they're talking about?) and then remember its not about you, its about your plastic. They might be trying to help you look better.

Well said! I agree completely and if I wasn't quite clear about that please accept my apology. That type of advice and criticism is exactly what I look for and appreciate in this website. The type of negative comments I was reffering to were straight forward vulgarity and rudeness such as I referenced before someone had been going off about a certain type of armor and said that it "looked like s***" and proceeded to call people who wear that kind of armor all sorts of obsene names, and it's been in a few different places that I've seen this type of behavior, that is specifically the negativity I am talking about. I DO NOT believe this is the normal attitude and demeanor or the majority of the forum members. Rational mature conversation about the pros and cons of costume choices is what I have valued most about this forum. I just don't see any reason that such disscusions can't take place with a certain amount of respect.

  7. Hey Chris,

I think that's the majority opinion - e.g. strive to be the best you can, strive to help others be the best they can, but always be respectful of others' choices wrt to their costume. It's a club after all and meant to be fun. I'd like to think that the majority of TK's are in that mindset. It's great to have pride in your costume, but neither acceptable nor cool to look down at others for declining to make the same choices.

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm certain that if there has been any vibe of elitism it's been accidental/unintentional. We're all brother stormtroopers here, regardless of armor make. I'd like to point out that the recently adopted deployment standards have no requirement that can't be obtained using an FX kit, and that this was an intended decision on our part.

Thanks for the support! I also want to point out that this site has been singularly the most helpful resource for finding tips and mods (apart from my friends in the Central Garrison that is). And over-all I agree that most people in here seem to be very positive and supportive, and the negative comments seem to be fairly isolated.

  8. I admire those who strive for more accurate better looking costumes, it's great fun and gives the owner a sense of pride in the work that they've done. However I have seen many refferences stateing that ~95% of the 501st wear FX armor assuming that this is true, to berate and condemn fellow troopers due to their choice of armor is not only inappropriate it's childish and insulting to the majority of the organization that they profess to cherish. The whole point of what we do is to have fun and share something we love with others (others that for the most part could not tell the difference between FX, RT or TE...etc).

I think that I should clarify that I advocate the improving of the quality of costumes and providing help and insight to those who wish to improve their look, but I have read many posts (not so much on this thread) where people got down-right insulting, saying that the FX armor "looks like s***" and other such things. That kind of eliteist /exclusionist attitude has no place in an organization whose greatest accomplishment is bringing together a large group of people from all over the world to share in something we all love. I would go as far as to say that that kind of rudeness and negativity should be banned from official forums, if people want to behave that way they can start their own blog-site or something.

Again I love the constructive advice on improving costumes, I've gained a lot of helpful tips and sage advice on building my character. I'm just saying let's keep it positive, no reason to go all Darkside on fellow troopers.

Thanks for letting me throw in my two credits.

  9. I'm telling you, just suck down salt pills and your body will hold onto liquid foro hours at a time...I've gone about 15 hours :D

While this is an effective way to stave off thirst and urination it should also be strongly noted that individuals with high blood pressure or heart problems SHOULD NOT try this as you may very well give yourself a heart attack, stroke or aneurysm. Or even those who are in good health could pass out or lose vision temporarily, I guess on the up side you wouldn't wet your pants while you're unconscious.

This method of controling hydration should ONLY be used after consulting a physician. When I was a kid lots of kids would detassle corn in the summer to make some extra cash, lots of them used salt pills for the same reasons. I've seen many healthy fit young persons pass out from overdoing the salt pills.

Yes it does work, but only use after seeking a doctors advice and use responsibly don't use the more is better mentality. Unless it's more healthy troops on the field is better.

This public service announcment has been brought to you in part by Balstec makers of the E-11 blaster, "The E-11 when you absolutely positively have to kill every moisture farmer in the room, accept no substitute".

  10. Boshuda,

I send you greetings from the great cornfields of Iowa. I am a hopeful recruit nearing completion of my first set of TK gear, I have recieved some sage advice from my good freinds and soon-to-be fellow troopers in the Centeral Garrison, as well as having found some very helpful info right here in this site and links provided herein. I saw that many of my TK friends were a part of this detatchment and thought it would be well worth my while to drop in and introduce myself for now until my 501st membership is approved and I can submit myself to your noble ranks in hopes of joining this detatchment. Long live the Empire.
