Finally made it, getting approved on 17 Dec 2021.
Its taken a few days short of 2yrs to complete my build, so its been quite a journey. Completing a Masters, working full time and juggling a family, all impacted on my original plan of getting things finished in 2 months. As this was my first build I learnt a ton and made a couple of mistakes.
Still need to make a few adjustments to fit before going for EIB and Centurion, as over the 2yrs lost some weight and gained some weight so different pieces are better fits than others.
I enjoyed the build process learning a lot more about the armour than if I had of followed my original plan of buying a commission from RSpropmasters. Though not saying I wouldn't have been happy with that as they make good quality stuff and I would have been able to troop before COVID.
Thanks to those that provided comments and advice along the way including: justjoseph63, gmrhodes13, TheSwede; ukswrath; sly11; Tarok; TkSpartan; husky68, + many others.
Couple of tips for new builders (going to get a bit more philosophical than usual).
1) Research research research;
2) Be open to asking questions on the forum and open to feedback given in good faith, someone has probably come across the same issue previously and will have the answer;
3) Measure three times, cut once, if unsure measure again or take a photo and ask for advice on forum;
4) Be prepared to make some mistakes, if it can't be fixed its not the end of the world as there are more important things in life, you can always repurchase a particular piece;
5) If your getting frustrated take a break (You will find out about the sniper knee) even if its a few weeks/months;
6) Take lots of photos, really rewarding to look at where you have come from by the end of the process;
7) Real life happens, and is more important;
8) Enjoy the journey, not just the destination;

Hi Mark
The reason you are unable to post is because permissions to do so are are set for 501st approved members only I am sorry.
You do have permission to view all posts in that area though.
Once 501st approved you will have more sections of the forums visible to you and the ability to post in more areas.
Hope that clears it up for you
Thanks, I'll trawl through my emails again as I must have missed a step somewhere, as have been approved by my GML and on the 501st forum, 501st ID: 18474

Have started making some tweaks based on feedback.
Fixed thermal detonator so now panel is horizontal. Couldn't get to internal nuts, as couldnt get ends off, must have glued them a while ago.
Can now hear nuts rolling around inside td. Have temporarily fixed with a magnet at the back. Might drill an 8mm hole in the back to slide the out as this will be against the belt. Thoughts?

Looking great, should be easy basic for you. That helmet looks amazing with paint and ear angle.
One fix for higher levels, try rotating the TD to show panel more horizontal. My TD needed to be rotated too, you can see in my build log.

Thanks, they are pretty tight, so might be pushed for getting anything in there but will play around with it.The kit fits you well, if you need more room around your inner leg just add some foam to the outer inside of the thigh, it might help your thigh pieces rubbing when you walk because they look like they might rub.
Great job, basic should be an easy pass.

Thanks, was pushing my luck to get my wife to syraighten things up, td was pushing it a bit far.Nice work and great build thread, you listened to feedback and took it on board.
Just an FYI you need a K on that Nightfall
You could add some white to the rim of your hovis tips
Also watch the rear belt and TD, slightly on an angle.
Nothing I can see should hold you up for basic, submit away, good luck and hope you receive approval soon.
Fixed the K. Will look at the hovitips

No embedded canvas in the AP hand guards I have. I'll try the black silicone whist sourcing another version.
Might be the abs hand guards just for my basic approval photos.

3rd different type of glue for the hand guards. Same result, adhered perfectly to the glove not to the latex.
Guess I will try the black silicone suggestion.

48hrs later, going to give more time given the glue for gloves hasn't arrived

Straps glued. Time to wait for glue to dry, and delivery of glue to finish last piece, the gloves.

Since my last real fitting I extended the chest ab straps to move the chest plate up, now only about 10-15mm overlap of chest and ab.How is the chest plate sitting with the current back plate position? You always have a little room to move with fine adjustments.
With padding out of helmet, bottom of helmet now level with neckline, eliminating the big gap that was there before.

2nd photo looks like a slightly small gap between the back and kidney. As long as the elastic doesn't feel too tight and nothing is digging in you should be good to go.
I find marking should strap positions with tape is an easy way to get them sitting right when gluing. Normally there is the large tab and 4-5 small tabs on the front, but that is the ideal not an absolute must
Thanks, first definitely feels more comfortable.
Wife helped marking up with tape, large tab + 3 small tabs at front, only 2 overlapping at back

Does height of the back look ok, not too low?, first photo has 20mm longer straps.
Kinda look exactly the same don't they? Trying to get perfect before I glue shoulder straps in place.

Yeah did that and the glue adhered well on the gloves. Ordered the glue so hopefully Aust post is not too slow, so I can be finished by next weekend.FYI - I also scoffed up the backs of my gloves a little before glueing, with 180grit sandpaper, from memory.

Thanks, might see if i can get that in Australia. Shouldn't be this difficult. might try sanding the bottom of hand guards more.Hey mate, I used Zap-RT glue, which is a CA glue made for rubber parts (like tyres on model cars), so it bends and takes tension well. It worked a treat on Joseph's hand guards and those same rubber gloves.

3rd pair of gloves and 3rd fail.
Followed justjoseph's instructions. Used e6000 on this attempt with about 5 kgs of weight on them for more than 24hrs. Flexible hand guards just fell off, glues not adhering at all, glue adhered perfectly fine to the gloves which had been sanded.
1st attempt was superglue, 2nd attempt plastics glue with primer, all same result nothing seems to be wanting to adhere to the AP supplied hand guards.
Any suggestions?

ThanksHey Trooper, looking good. If I can make a suggestion.
You may want to check the width of your drop boxes according to the references they seem a little thicker but i may be wrong, just checking..
Reference Images
May be a light effect but the ABS Belt square covers could be flatter with no return edge at all.
Reference Images
Almost there , keep it up.
Outer dropboxes are 14-15mm winners are around 12mm as fit flush inside when placed on a table.
Belt buttons have a slight return edge as rivet + washer didn't give me any space to have completely flat, even with trying to gently trim out inside with dremel.
Planning to replace the rivets with some 4mm long Chicago screws so it should fit better but that will be down the track when retail opens up again.
Thanks for the tips

More progress this week. Belt done.
Decided to copy a suggestion from Mayo's build to put some storage in the belt boxes for cash and ID.
Just gloves and shoulder strap to go. Then to fix up all the other little things on my list.
