  1. I did hear a theory, as the Empire only just converted from clone to stormtrooper the armor was very crisp and define, by time ANH came around the Empire was pumping out so much armor that it started loosing some of the crisp defined lines.

"Just converted" might be  a stretch, since there is a 19 year gap between ROTS and ANH.

  2. I'm brand new here, but I have been researching quite a bit.  From what I can see from other builds and the CRL are the following (See if you agree  :) , I'm just the new guy!!! ):

    • Life support buttons are different layout.
    • Also, the helmet has all the details of the Hasbro Black Series helmet (as I bought one yesterday for Halloween).
    • Sunken in Blue marks instead of painted.
    • Traps and tears are also not "hand painted" look.
    • Rectangles on ears are very different
    • Vocoder is a coating/additional piece instead of paint
    • Undersuit looks like ribbed fabric
    • Beveled cuts on the cover strips on forearm, biceps, thighs, and shins
    • Shoulder straps different
  3. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!   I have been researching quietly for the past few weeks.   For halloween, I have a cheapie stormtrooper that I am wearing to get through the party (my wife is going as Slave Leia), but I did not buy the Rubies Supreme or deluxe.   However, I am definitely getting hooked on the accurate armor.  Looks like a lot of fun.   I have been using the attached links (image) for my research, and I feel that I have learned so much.   But with each thread I read, I realize how much information there inside the pages of this forum!  If you can think of anything else that I should look at to get started, let me know!

  4. Good evening! I have recently been investigating how to build stormtrooper armor and came across the 501st and the FISD. I am currently researching my options, and I have joined my local garrison's board to help me get involved in local meetups, armor building sessions, etc. Thanks for approving my registration, and look forward to talking with you all!  I have been reading many of the "Start Here" threads, and I have learned a ton from you all!  I almost went down the Rubies path for a halloween party, and I am so glad I didn't.   After seeing what the 501st is all about, and what real armor looks like, I think I might be hooked!
