Are you looking for a costume to be worn or for decoration purposes only?

Also are you planning on building it or buy a completed/assembled armor?

I'm looking into all the possibilities right now. I'm not rich, so I will have to be crafty. I have some tailoring skills, and I try to be as authentic, but thrifty as possible with my other costumes. However, trooper gear will be difficult as there are many molded pieces. I'm looking into getting the classic trooper helmet from Anovos, since that would be the most difficult piece to replicate (hoping to coupon share with other Anovos buyers for that, as per the thread on discount sharing). This site is awesome for ideas on builds and details about construction!

Hi everyone,

 

I just joined and thought I would make a formal introduction. I’m an all-around enthusiast of the science fiction genera and have been a hardcore fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and a number of other franchises for pretty much my entire life. I have been avidly collecting science fiction memorabilia and costume accessories from a number of franchises, and most recently put together a fun Buck Rogers costume based on Gil Gerard’s from the 1979-1981 TV show. I also have a pretty extensive collection of (mostly handmade by myself) Star Trek costumes, including Starfleet uniforms from most of the TV series and movies.

 

I joined this online community because I am interested in expanding my costuming collection into the Star Wars universe. Since I was a kid I have collected Star Wars action figures and other memorabilia, but my costuming has focused on other franchises. Seeing the dedication of so many awesome Star Wars fans around the release of VII has really inspired me to step up my game. Thanks for making this forum awesome and full of great info and advice.
