As far as replacement parts go, is their a particular alternative manufacturer that is close? In other words, are the color of whites different enough to notice? I need a new butt.

Thanks for the nice words, y'all!
I figure I'll just touch up the creases beforehand. On a side, I'm having problems with the back of my shins tucking in to the back of my boots as I walk. Any suggestions for a remedy? Velcro? Don't move?

A bit of the creases are showing but not bad. Took 4 coats. Should be good for protecting me from Ewoks.

Try face paint and fake blood on some scraps first. I'm sure someone here has done it with success..

The best paint to use is the Angelus Leather.
The craft store me were all out but had another brand of leather paint. I'm on the second coat and it's getting there. Fingers crossed!
Thanks!

Last time I checked you can still get the same boots as they used in 76 but I can't remember the makers name.
I've heard the name "Jones the Boot Maker" thrown around before.

From the picture they dont look bad. I think you'll be fine if you quit saying they're leather solesJK
Make sure you clean them back to leather before you paint. I use acetone and some rags and elbow grease. If you don't get that finish off the new paint won't stick.
These aren't the leather soles we're looking for...
Thanks for the advice!

Are the leather soles going to be a hurdle or should I get some Vibram half soles? Thanks again!

They look fine. A lot of boots only have the pull tabs on the back. Select a paint that would be good for leather and tape off those soles. I think you're in business.
Excellent! Thank you! I was getting nervous thinking I'd have to borrow my friend's size 13s (I wear 10).

Howdy y'all.
TKboots, as you know, are very limited on supply and it seems that Imperial is out for the month. Unfortunately, I need some boots before the Great Pumpkin rises from the pumpkin patch. I found some black Chelseas that might work but would greatly appreciate some opinions from those of you here with more knowledge. Is the missing pull on tab a big deal? The soles are leather, too. I reckon I can glue on thin soles over the leather when it comes time for approval.
Thank you!

Will definitely be adding Velcro to the inside front of the shins. :-)
Did you diagnose why your shins were twisting?

I wish that was the case for here. Have fun!

Are you concerned at all about carrying around a blaster on Halloween? Where I live, police want to see an orange tip and the bars typically want nothing at all.

Cool timelapse! Your shop is suspiciously clean.

Caught this just in time! Off to double snap everything!
No need to double snap the shoulder bells to the white chest/back strapping?

Thanks for those youtube links! They were helpful.

Also, make contact with your local Garrison. They’ll help guide you through the process of becoming a member of the 501st, and may have local Armor Parties in the works where you can get hands-on build advice and guidance, not to mention meet members of your future Garrison.
So, start a build thread here on FISD; post lots of pictures and questions. We are all here to help you out and to make sure you look your best, and represent the 501st as best as possible.
All the best on your TK journey!
Will do! I'm curious how many members live near me. Probably start chatting up folks closer to the end of the year though. I have more costumes (unrelated) to construct before December hits.
I'm really close to finishing up my build. So no separate thread for me. I've been lurking for a very long time and have scoured the forums here for information. I'm really amazed at what some people are capable of. So much talent! I would have never been so far along if it wasn't from learning from other users here. And, if this one small introduction thread has taught me anything is how welcoming everyone is. Cheers!

..... but he really is a great guy to deal with and saved me a ton of time and money with this kit.
Yah, there's something to be said about the time and effort of digging around at the hardware store a thousand times. Sometimes it's just so much easier to have it show up on your doorstep.
Oh, I found a pdf download (from one of your links) for a DD build. Wow! I missed it earlier searching around. Man is it detailed! Thanks again!

Welcome to the FISD Brian!
I like your forum name
Hope to see you in EIB after trick or treating!
Hahaha! Thanks! I worked in a movie theater during early to mid 90's. Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey came out during what had to be my most boring summer ever. I must have watched that movie in part every single day I worked.
Definitely shooting for EIB at a minimum. I never realized how addictive this would become...and I've just barely started.

Since you are doing the DD build, I would HIGHLY recommend picking up one of Tino's (T-Jay) completion sets, as they include everything you need to take your resin build to the nth degree of accuracy. I have used his kits twice, and the difference is amazing. (Plus, he includes a free package of Gummi-bears, LOL). Here is a link to his thread:
This is also a VERY helpful thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32111-fisd-e-11-blaster-reference/
I was just checking his kit and thread out yesterday actually! I am very tempted to get it but I'm worried about my timing. I have a pretty well stocked shop and may just raid my supply of screws, bolts, and what not and follow the build threads. I think in the end, I'll be much happier that I made the effort.
Thanks for the links!

Welcome Brian to the FISD! May your one month build be entirely satisfying for you - all the best!
Thanks! I have actually been building slowly over a few months. The end of the month deadline has been imposed on me by my friend, a tie fighter pilot, and my wife, a work-in-progress ESB Leia for Halloween. This is a project that I've been lucky to take my time with and hate to rush it now. I'm 95% done with the armor. I need to fit check and tweak a bunch of "flat" torso pieces, tart up my bucket, wire up some basic electronics (fan, voice amp), and lastly glue up my blaster. The blaster (Doopydoos) is where I'd like to let some obsessive behavior let loose. We'll see!

Welcome to the FISD, Brian, and awesome to hear that you received your kit as a gift! Be sure to ask if you have any questions, and if you haven't done so yet I would get in touch with the Golden Gate Garrison http://www.501stggg.com/ as well as Kyle, who is our Imperial Attache for your area: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/profile/17395-kylebeagle/.
Best of luck on your white armor journey!
Thanks! I plan on bugging the Golden Gate folks here shortly. I believe there's a North Bay squad, too, which I assume will be closer to me.

I got a similar message a couple weeks ago saying they were just out of stock in the 10s. What a shame!
