Right then, UK vendors!

    *Aside*

Do head over to the UK Garrison, their friendly and will help you out. At the moment you'll need to do a fair amount of work to get to the 501st standard but they will be happy to help you and offer great advice. http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/join-us/

    * End of aside *

Some of this is poor timing as one vendor has just shut and others have picked up the patterns and molds etc so it's all a bit up in the air. Links at the end.

Disclaimer: there may well be other makers for most of this stuff. Either I don't know about them, havent used them/haven't heard many recommendations. This is just where I/alot of people I know got stuff.

Belt: Formerly ISD was the most accurate (I'm aware of anyway) but they're the one who closed. I can try find out if he's still offering the belt via his new venture or option B RWA. I have an older RWA one, very happy with it and since have been made more accurate than the one I have.

Neck seal: was also ISD, but again RWA do one that I've seen an looks nice and was liked by the trooper who showed it to me.

Audio: This is a bit different. No one else does an all in helmet setup. However theres a decent selection of options if you poke about in the right sub forum. Tramp is gaining in popularity in the UK. Paul is a UKG member and all round nice guy. Pricey but good. If you want the last of a piece of history RomFx is currently dong a 100 unit run which will be the last ever, was always a very popular unit in the legion.

And stuff I've noticed for your photos:

Accurate hand guards: These are now being handled by Imperial Warfighters. Formerlly these were made by ISD, and I believe formerly Karen on here. I have a set in silicone, very happy with them, though latex ones are more accurate if you don't have latex allergy issues.

Armour wise we have something like 5 reputable armour makers so that will depend on what you're after and your budget.

If there's anything else chuck me a PM and I'll probably know who to speak to.

Chris thank you so very much! Your a fantastic help and this may explain why I was initially having a bit of trouble in locating more local sources for kit.

The belt and neck seal are the main parts I'm after but Your right in that he handguards are also on my to do list. Having done a fair old bit of other costuming in the past and having worked with latex, I may give them a go myself (and when/if I weenie it up, I can still find a good armourer to buy some!)

Guys this is an immensely warm welcome, I had slight reservations that as I'd got some cheap-ey armour initially I may have gotten a few snide remarks, but I'm genuinely overwhelmed with the positive responses towards getting the armour up to scratch, so thank you all for your help!

I'll do this properly later as I'm about to pop out for the evening but all that you need is available in the U.K., which will avoid messing about with expensive postage and customs.

Dude thank you! I've been digging around for the "what I'm after" without much attention to the "where its from" so I'd appreciate any insight! Of course this is purely if you get a chance in any spare time, I have no expectation for an "easy how to" guide and appreciate any and all assistance!
The main thing I'm after is a new belt and neck seal at the moment.... mainly the belt, mine is not fairing well atm :D

Haha I know there are many! I was at a mini con in Medway with a fellow trooper in March. Got to meet David Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch!

Thanks for the warm reception and I look forward to picking your brains :D

  3. Hi all,

I've been one of the 'lurker types' for over a year on here, getting tidbits of information and ideas, and even building a foam FO Stormtrooper for fun (came out alright for a 5 week build, genuinely!)
Just over 6 months ago I decided to get a TK build, against my better judgment I got a second hand kit and I'm aware its almost definitely a recast, but Having assembled it many many months ago, it still looks great and gets the reaction i want from friends and the public at conventions and meets.

So why a reintroduction? Well here is where I am now, I'm taking a more active role on the forums and I'm starting to put some orders through for pieces from the hard workers here.
I've upgraded me boots, and gloves and I'm going to continue tweaking what I can and replacing what I can. Re-buying full sections as necessary.

So here's a pic of what I've got and where I'm currently at:

    I've got TK boots.
A Recast Armouur which ive assembled as best as possible. It's ANH styled.
    Accurate blaster holster
A Rogue one Black Series Helmet (which I'm going to continue tweaking for now)
    Better gloves.

    Going to soon be buying:
    Darman's Props Neck seal
    ImperialIssue's belt
    UKswrath's Audio kits for helmet.

I know I'm probably making everyone cringe with the armour not being spot on and a recast, but it brings me joy and has got me started. At least I've gone for a R! helmet with ANH armour rather than trying to mix ROTJ with something from R1 (that would be just too much crossover!)

Anyway thanks for having a read and looking forward to sharing some work on my progress :)
    Liam

Based on the color I'm going to guess Bondo, but ya never know. I'm working on a TB helmet kit right now from RS Prop Masters and am having to do the same kinds of filling and sanding. The Bondo is working quite well...

    Dan

    Ah fantastic thank you!

I've been fortunate/lazy in that I've not needed to do any so far and whilst I'm not expecting to pass any 501st criteria; not having a big ol hole in the back of my bucket is still preferable :D

  5. I have been using my RO helmet and had only got round to tinting the lenses. But am glad to see there's plenty that can be done!

I'm with Dan though, curious to know how you sealed the vent and battery pack so well! what stuff was it you used and what spray did you go over the top of the helmet with to keep it all the same shade (off-whites are so infuriating)?

Great work man, keep it up :D

  6. Hi one and all,

I've done my fair share of costuming over recent years and for the last year and a bit, I've been attempting to rock the Old Ben Kenobi look.

Not an easy feat when your 25. But as much as I'm a fan of the Jedi, and specifically Old Ben (not that there is anything wrong with ewan's version of Kenobi, I liked that as well) I have fallen in love with the first Order Troopers!

So I'm going to be starting progress on rocking the First Order look soon. Though I'm making use of your seriously awesome and extensive list of research and resources first!

Anyway, erm, so yeah... Hi. And thank you for providing such a great community to help me fall in rank! Ultimate goal: be 501st worthy! First goal: Having something that people can recognise as a stormtrooper!
