1. Mine is ABS, which is quite enjoyable to work with. Have shifted everything around and made good progress. Need to tidy some of the lining up a bit, plus I'm waiting on the tube stripe templates to arrive and the foam for the interior. Please feel free to give criticism as I'd like to get 501st approval.

Feel free to be brutal, this is the first time doing anything like this so need as many pointers as possible.

I can't seem to add photo's, any advice?

  2. After biting the bullet and deciding to go shadow, I would just like some clarification on the shadow storm trooper, mainly the helmet and decals.

On the CRL it says there are a number of variations on lense, friown, tube stripes, traps and vocoder. Is this down to the individual? I like the look of the frown and lenses being silver with a grey vocoder and traps. Or are there specific mixes of this? It also says the rear and tear traps may have stripes, again, js this optional? It also mentions the 'body' of the ears can be grey. Which part is the body? Is it the complete unit? The circular bit or the raised section in the middle?

Finally, on the helmet. It says the tube stripes can be either blue or black, is this personal choice? Are the greys and blues the same as on a standard storm trooper?

On other parts aside from the helmet, on the CRL it states that a black Pauldron is an optional extra, but I see there has been some criticism of this as there is no canon evidence of this. I have also seen a picture on 'wookipedia' of a shadow stormtrooper with MP40 punches on the waist belt, is this non-canon also?

Thanks in advance!

  3. Ok, I have straightened that bit, cut the eyes out, done the teeth and have initially assembled held in place with bolts. I'm doing the ears but am struggling and can't get rid of the gap completely.

I have some milliput to fit the lenses and mesh inside the helmet (have also used it to strengthen the plastic where the hovi mic tips are).

Now, would it pass the 501st test if I were to fill the gap with the milliput?? I'll try and attach pics of the gap...

  4. So my ATA helmet arrived yesterday and I made the initial cuts. All I've done is followed the mold lines on the faceplate sides and the sides of the rear/cap. I've also marked the eyes (but not cut) and have also sanded out the back of the teeth ready to get a small file in them. I really haven't cut much material but am concerned I've cut too much off the left (as you look at the helmet.

  5. More importantly, where how the hell did they get it back after it fell from Cloud City?? Haha

Also, for those of you saying about Rey's power, I have another theory.

Ok, so Rey is Luke's daughter. She was one of the new generation of Jedi that he was training when Kylo killed them all. Luke sent her away to somewhere he didn't even know so Kylo couldn't find her or even know of her existence. That's why he looks at her the way he does.

The ship she remembers leaving is her mum leaving but she was too young to know exactly what was going on. But that explains why she was able to use the force to easily and quickly, she had been trained from a young age but was so young when she was abandoned that she never honed it.

Just a thought, more really my point is this is the setup for the rest of the trilogy, I feel confident all will become clear.

  6. Just a thought, and knowing Abrams from every Bad a Robot film, here's a thought:

The storyline is very similar to ANH, yes, but I feel this was done on purpose.

It's done to show the futility and arrogance of the empire. The fact that history repeats itself if we do not learn from the mistakes of the past.

Also, another thought. I think we can all say who Rey is going to turn out to be, but are all Jedi's are going to be direct blood lines, right? Because the only Jedi's that survived order 66 were Obi Wan, Yoda and The twins when they were born?

  7. She's already been mentioned by LFL as being in Episode 8. So, will we find out if her lowering the shields was cowardice, divided loyalties, or simply bad writing. I suppose it could also be arrogance, like the idea that even lowering the shields couldn't give the Resistance an advantage.

I just hope it's explained one way or another.

Luckily lowering the shields has never ended badly for anyone in the Star Wars universe before :)
  8. Really liked it. Disney and Abrams done good. I think it's my third favourite of the 7 films. It feels like a Star Wars film, much more than EP I - III, but then the less mentioned about those the better. Haha.

As for the story, it was always gonna be a bit of a rehash as it's got to cater for both new and old fans, plus in relation to plot holes mentioned, this film was always designed to be the first of a trilogy.

Complaining that it doesn't explain everything is like watching a first to show to the first ad break and complaining it's an incomplete story.
