  1. Still haven't invited any over to take a pic of me wearing the thighs... I guess I am scared to see how bad I messed them up, but I do have some other updates.

I feel like it is a rite of passage for me to post the snap"plates"

Helmet starting to look sexy... decals on... teeth painted, Sugru the lenses on and the inside sprayed with  plastidip.

  2. Apparently there was a disturbance in the force last night because as I sat down to work on the helmet i noticed that the Cap was a lot more even. Also i was able to put both ears back on with little struggle.

take a look at the ear gaps here guys.... I am pretty happy with it, I know most people struggle with it, but i seem to struggle with everything else... i'm going to chalk these up to a win.

And here are the teeth... I cut the out lines with a hobby knife, and then rolled up a piece of sand paper and essentially "flossed" the helmet with it... What do you guys think?

  3. Got the finishing strips going on the thighs ... reading yalls comments make me really feel like i messed up lol ... ill take a pic with one on soon... without trimming them they went down past my knees and made it impossible to bend at the knee... thats why i trimmed so much off...

Started on the helmet, a few nights ago i glued the cap and back together... held the seam together with blue tape and magnets, Tonight i started screwing everything together i noticed the cap had a "ghetto lean" not really sure why hopefully you guys can help me figure out what I keep messing up lol...

    obvious difference on the cap.

the side showing the cap and back seam... looks perfect to me

also I lost a lot of confidence when I got to the thighs... this AM armor is huge... I am 6' but had to take off 2 inches off the top to make them work for me... I think they look terrible... what do you guys think? Can you all think of anything to make these a little better?

  5. ok guys, confidence level shot way up after knocking out my first forearm. Ignore the tape, also edges and ends are not trimmed.

    XFQZh5B.jpg

I do have some questions about fitting.

1st: do you taper the cuts to fit your forearm? or just keep the cuts straight so that they butt up evenly?

Whats the trick for fitting? although these are starting to get snug on my forearm they still seem to slide if i have my hands down by my side, pictures below showing the gap by the wrist.

    2LRahEe.jpg

Very little gap by the forearm

Thank you for all your help!!!

  6. Thanks for the tips... I scared myself out of the next step... I took off all the return edges off the forearm pieces and sanded them down, but could not make the cut to fit them... I am having a hard time visualizing how it needs to be done... If any of you could link me a walk through that would be amazing

  7. Ok first issue... I started with the forearms, but I remember seeing that the left forearm should have a curve near the bottom, but these both seem pretty straight to me? Am I crazy? also how do I cut these to fit? Also they seem to have 2 differnt curves at the top? is that correct?

  8. Hello everyone, been throwing around the idea of joining the 501st for over 8 years now, and with TFA coming soon I decided that it was time to start working towards becoming a member.

After several months of research I finally took the plunge. I will be reviving my AM 2.0 armor, boots, and hyperfirm e-11 pretty soon actually. I am so excited and I'm sure it will feel like Xmas morning.

I recently moved from New Orleans to Oklahoma area so my friends outside of work are currently limited ... So...

If any of you are in the Oklahoma area or are with the star garrison please let me know I would love to attend an armor party if possible.

Thank you all for the amazing amount of time and research you have done to make some truly amazing threads on this forum.

  9. I got this email last night: (for your reading pleasure)

Currently our next run of boots is in production and due to arrive late Oct.

Sadly, our back order lists exceed the incoming quantity of boots we have being produced, but we will be starting another production run immediately once the current run is completed. Sizes 9, 10 and 11 are the most popular sizes and will sell out the fastest.

As you know, we are producing true boots, not low quality costume boots like our competitors are selling as 'TK Boots'. They are in no way related to us and the boots they are selling are not the same quality and caliber as ours. Sadly, our first production run from the new production facility is taking longer than expected. We are more concerned with quality rather than volume, but this is why our boots are in such high demand and our competitors are pushing their lower quality costume boots.

When our boots are completed in October and after we inspect them, the next run will take approx. 60 to 80 days to complete. Those orders which we cannot fill from this incoming run will be filled our following run. I'm very sorry for the delays. The new production shop has promised to help us catch up but hand made boots take a while to produce.

Based upon our prior 18 years of experience in building boots for the 501st, I can say that normally 1/4 of the fans on the back order will not be financially ready to order and this is alright, as it allows us to move quickly down the list until every order is finished.

So, there is a chance we'll be able to fill all of our back orders, but there is a chance that we may sell out before filling our back orders. I'm sorry for the uncertainty, but again, we are more concerned with quality and than quantity.

If you do not mind waiting, we can certainly add you to our back order list with no commitment. We never accept deposits until our boots are boxed and ready to ship.

  10. Ok people, I am super excited to announce that I just requested to get a set of the next AM 2.0 armor. He did mention there is a list of items that do not come with the kit:

    Boots

    Gloves

    Neck Seal

    Under Suit

    Canvas Belt

    Holster

    Blaster

    Voice Amplifier

    Thermal Detonator clips

I am sure this is all covered somewhere in the forum, but I figured I would ask. Where do most of you guys recommend I get these items?

Thank you all again for the advice that helped me make the plunge

  11. Keep in mind that I've never done them either. :D

There are a lot of tutorials out there for plasti-dipping the insides of helmets. That's what I figure I'll follow.

Essentially, you take either the plasti-dip or the fiberglass (I know you can get fiberglass kits at Hobby Lobby) and you "paint" it onto the inside of the armor and allow it the necessary time to cure. Then, you sand it to get the proper thickness/smoothness that you want - kind of like larger scale bondo, I suppose. You're just creating a thicker layer of material with either one of them.

When it comes to this stuff, I'm kind of like Indiana Jones... I just make it up as I go along. :D So far, it has worked out alright for me. ;)

Thanks for posting this, I am in the beginning stages of armor shopping and was wondering if adding fiberglass to the inside would work. I want armor that not only looks accurate but feels like actual armor. Any tips and tricks for getting this done?

  12. Hey guys great posts here, thank you all for your input.  I am looking to get my first kit, and was originally going to go with Anovos, but after reading I may hold off...

Bottom line is I have a pretty interesting build... I am 6'0 270 lbs. I used to compete in lifting so most of my size is some extremely broad shoulders and big chest. I would say my chest is a 52" as of now. My waist size fluctuates between a 36-40.

With the new movies quickly approaching, I really wanted to do a first order trooper, but now it may seem that my only option is Porkins.  Any advice is appreciated
