  1. I'm going to D23 on Sunday. In case there's an Anovos booth (I think there is), what is the most burning question I should ask? What is the most crucial photo I should take?

Abs or pvc? Will shim pieces be included. What's the rigging? How close will it be to the shadow trooper set that was given to tested.com

  2. On a Facebook group for people who bought the Anovos kit. Also, there's some news which should please you guys...

It looks like Anovos has listened to the community and is planning to go back to ABS instead of PVC!

From a SDCC attendee : "I just recieved this comment from Anovos. "Correct! We have listened to fan feedback and presently plan to revert to the original ABS for the armor. More details will be revealed at the ANOVOS panel on Saturday. :)"

What's the name of the group?

  3. I don't know if anyone noticed that but you can see that they assembled the armor with black elastics for the shoulder bells... Is that representative of their "strapping system"? Gosh, I wish I was there to ask!!!

Those could just be to hold it on the display. Where did you find that pic?

  4. I've taken the gamble on this back during tier 1. I am worried about fit for me. I'm 5'11 280 got a decent old man belly. But I assume with my weight I'd have problems making any armor work. So I'll stick with it and see what happens. But I'm hoping I can make it work

  5. I can guarantee you that ANOVOS will not be selling TFA kits for $700-$800 apiece. More likely the kits will be in the neighborhood of $2k each, with a completed suit going for at least twice that. There are interviews from SWCA the ANOVOS principles that say as much - the links to those videos are posted in the TFA section of this forum.

Yeah I couldn't remember what pricing they said but I believe your right. Either way if the armor doesn't meet the 501st I'll still enjoy it

  6. Reading between the lines of their most recent post, the low price was so they could get a massive upfront capital injection to allow them to be able order materials in much higher volumes and so cash in on the quantity discounts. The price is going up, they've said $650 after July 9th and also theres a "may change" bit on it somewhere too. I figure you're looking at about $700-800 by the end of all that.

I agree with this, theres no way they are gonna put out a low quality product. They are the company that lucasflim allowed to make TFA armor. And have it at celebration. They have the license and access to stuff no one else does. They are looking long term. Cheap up front to drive sales to them. After the first wave of people show off their product more will come. Word of mouth and seeing something are the best way to get sales. And it's not like selling star wars stuff is all they do. When they start selling TFA armor you can be sure they will be selling around the $900-1000 price. And ANH will more than likely be $700-800. Kits that is, the fully made ANH armor is $1200 now. The more of something your able to get the cheaper the price. Example is I work for a national pizza company and we get soda from coke. We pay $1.50 per 2 liter and sell them for $2.50. Walmart get the same soda and sells it for $1.00-1.50 most of the time. Which means they gotta be buying it for $.50-.70. Bulk buying equals better pricing.

  7. http://www.makexyz.com/ lets you find local people with a 3D printer who can print stuff for you.

Thanks for that link. Dpav could you post the info on the printer your using so we could know if the ones listed on that site are gonna be able to meet your quality. When your done of course and if your brothers printer isn't up to the task. I'd rather reward you for your work than a random person.

  8. Yeah, the most I can do at this point is provide files to help others print them out. My brother has a lower level 3D printer and I know the resolution not at this level. You can sand them and paint those though so that could be an option I would be willing to do! Let me see if I can get a sample of a part to compare and see if people would be interested. It'd be a little more elbow grease on the sanding aspect but I think if it was in a kit, people might be interested. Thoughts anyone?

If so, I would put kits together and help people out! Let me look into that since I would love to help other people make these mods.

Yeah I'd be down for one of your kits. A little sanding is much better than buying a 3d printer lol

  9. Looks totally amazing. I'm gonna be going to Star Wars weekends very soon and will be picking up a couple of these blasters. Just wish I had the 3d printer to make these addons. Hopefully someone out there with one would be willing to print these off and sell them to those of us who don't.
