  1. So I'm in the process of starting my armor, but before then, I want to wear my E11 in its holster at the Celebration. I'll just be wearing civvy clothes so I want to mount it to a regular belt. but I haven't really "assembled" the holster yet either, so I don't want to do anything to it that will mess it up for my actual armor. I don't know if I'm making any sense so here is a picture of my holster as it is now, which is exactly how I bought it.

So basically, how can i mount this to a regular leather belt worn with jeans in a way that doesn't modify it differently than what is required to go on a white canvas belt for a TK build? Or can it mount the same way? I know, I'm a noob.

    Thanks!

  2. You're right on the edge of shims/no shims for the AP, but since you're sometimes a 34, I imagine that you'll likely need them. :D

As for "inevitably messing something up" it happens, and very, very rarely is it not fixable. We've got your back!

Thanks so much Tim, I appreciate your advice. Hope to see your feedback for my build thread in the future!

  3. Hello, FISD!

My name is Michael and I'll be joining the community of stormtroopers in a couple of weeks here. I'm currently going in to my third quarter at the University of California, San Diego studying Mechanical Engineering. Since i moved down here, I've been looking in to joining the Imperial Sands Garrison of the 501st but first I need to make my childhood dream come true: I need to get stormtrooper armor! And that's what brings me here.

I've been talking to Mark Harrison about procuring a set of untrimmed armor and a pre-trimmed helmet. I've read that AP armor is best for ANH build but I'm not quite sure about that, so further info would be appreciated.

Anyway, I'm about 5'10" weighing about 180-190 lbs (no scale here in the dorm and It's been a while since I weighed in), so I'm not quite sure how I'd fit in AP armor but I've read that it can be done. The lower price is also what attracts me to the AP armor, but if anyone knows of anything cheaper while still being 501st approved, I'm all ears.

More long term, I want to make my armor in to a Stormtrooper version of Captian Rex. Will a project like that be able to be approved by the 501st? If not, or if I encounter any problems, I would want to make a stormtrooper commander. So in building my stormtrooper armor, I'd want to build it with that endgame in mind. But I wouldn't want to do any of this right away. I'll sit with regular white armor for now.

    But I digress.

Being a college student, it is a miracle that I can afford some armor in the first place, but I've been saving for a while now and I'll be ready to order everything in about two weeks! So excited! But even then, I'll barely have enough for the basics, let alone all the tools nor the space to construct it all in a crowded college dorm. Because of this, I'm asking for help from my local garrison. I've contacted the CO and she has invited me to the next armor party, where she says the members have tools and help that they are willing to lend. Who knew that stormtroopers could be so nice?

Well this has gotten a bit long, so I'll wrap it up here. If you've read this far, I thank you! If you want to know anything else, I'll be glad to reply in this topic or via PM. Michael out!

  4. Wow, there is a lot of stuff on that list. Thank you for your help, everyone! I never really gave much thought to what build I was doing. I was under the impression that AP armor was best for an ANH build so I guess that's what I was going for. I'll post a thread to introduce myself and all the other specifics. Thanks for all the replies guys!

Edit: I posted in the new member introduction thread. Lets move the convo there, yeah? (If anyone wanted to post anything else here, that is)

  5. Hope this is the right place for this. If not, just let me know.

Anyways, I'll be buying AP armor from Mark Harrison in about 2 weeks and I was just wondering what are all the extra things I will need to build it and also all the accessories and extras needed to have a full, screen-accurate Stormtrooper costume.

    Thanks Guys!
