Caleb and Clint,
Thanks. I will try both those suggestions.

Bulding my TK armor and almost completed. My chest plate rides too high and right under my chin. I have tried make the elastic shoulder straps longer, but it still rides up. Ypu can not reform the chest piece at teh shoudler as you will malform the entire piece. I am barrel chested, so I am sure that is part of the issue.
Any suggestions?

Thanks guys! I had to settle for an ANH one, but I wanted a ROTJ one. Do you think a ROTJ hoster will hold an ANH one? I can do a little customization if needed.
Thanks,

Ok, I have read much of the forum to find an ACTUAL source to purchase a Doopy-do kit or some other acceptable source to get a ROTJ E-11 blaster kit. Lots of internet references to them, but none to actually purchase a kit. Any suggestions?
I did make contact with the gent who makes the hyper firm blasters, but no reply yet.
Thanks,

I started working on my bucket. Have the eyes and teeth out. Did a rough trim on the edges as well. But, I wish to exactly what is the best method(s) and what tools and grit are used to sand the edges of the ABS plastic to a finished, clean look?
Thanks,

Seems there is no right or wrong method of padding, electronics, rigging inside the TK bucket. I saw the tutorials on placing a hard hat rig inside the bucket, but i was told it was difficult and not that great. I also saw someone post purchasing motorcycle helmet padding and velcroing that in. I of course have seen the flower shaped foam insert for the top of the head. I also plan to build in an Echo fan system and icom/speaker into it.
Any suggestions on best methods folks have run into?

What methods do you prefer for trimming/cutting eyes-teeth out on ABS kits? Do you prefer scoring and snapping, using scissors or dremeling out openings? Or all three?
Thanks,

I have scoured the internet to find where to purchase a Hyperfirm blaster. No luck. Any suggestions?

I just just received my TK helmet kit. I have watched various videos on construction, but one says to spray paint white and the other says to just polish. So, which is it?

I have searched, but could not a find a tool list to build a TK stormtrooper kit. Is there some list posted somewhere?

I have ordered my TK stormtrooper kit. I have watched all the online, build videos, but see various build methods. One is a wire hanger system, one is a snaps and webbing, etc. What method is suggested for flexibility and durability?
Thanks,

After much thought (a couple of years), much research and asking multiple questions of some patient 501st GA guys at Dragon Con, I have purchased my first kit from ATA. Helmet in stock, and 8 mo. wait for the armor. What is reasonable man of hours of build time?
Is it possible to build the helmet before the experience of building the armor?
I am going to try and bring the helmet to a local build party? Suggestions?
Thanks & Intimidated,
Jim

TK kit maker, ATA does not offer decals with their kits. They referred me to Scott M. on this forum to purchase a set. Any help on contact info for him?
Thanks,
Jim

Just in the research phase of building a TK impression. However, the amount of info is impressive but dizzying. I want to buy right and build right the first time. Trying now to determine which armor company is the best (I am 5'11", 220 lbs). Any suggestions? Then the big problem will be assembling it (as I am not the most handy man). I do tools and dremel. My big question is where do you folks gather to meet with newbies, build armor, provide advise, etc? Is it only on forums? Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Removing and reapiring ABS that was glued with CA glue?
in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Posted
Does anyone have any tips for removing a cover strip on ABS that was glued won with CA glue. I have found that removal is tricky and can even tear the armor and premenantly damaging it. And even if you do get the piece off, the CA glue destroys the look of the ABS underneath. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim
