  1. For my COM181 class in college, I've been talking about costuming, and talked about the 501st in the first speech. I'm now on my third and final persuasive speech, and I'm trying to persuade people to make costumes. I'm not allowed to blatantly lie, say anything a politician would say, or do anything else unethical, or I get failed, so before you all think of any of those ways to improve this speech, this speech is worth a *lot* of my grade in this course, I'd rather not fail this speech.

This is the link to my speech:

I'm also required to have at least three people outside my class review this speech with these (as a note, the time limit for this speech is 5 to 7 minutes, so if you see anything that should be cut, feel free to also give that a note).

I know this is kind of sudden and last minute (this speech is due Monday, but it's not like I won't be working on it 30 minutes before class). But if you could take just a little bit of your time, critique it, and put it in this thread, I have a few choice words for you...

    THANK YOU!!!

These are the criteria my professor wants the speech to be reviewed by, so please, just take a few minutes of our time if you please, and help a crewman out!

I'll be checking this up to about 8AM EDT tomorrow, when I will finish this speech up, and (hopefully) not freak out!

  2. OK, so I've done some minor soldering and hobby electronics, amused myself a little, now I'm trying to take a bigger step: I'm trying, let me re-iterate, TRYING, to get some sound from my PC onto a small PCB, hook it and about 3 LED lamps, an 8/16 ohm speaker, and a little 3V vibration motor to a little momentary switch, so when the trigger of whatever gun I decide to make first is pulled (something pulls me to the SE-14R, almost like a vacuum), the lights go off, the gun "kicks" and the sound is make. Everything works but the sound, since I don't know how the ^%$# to get the sound from my wonderful PC to where I can even test it on my modular breadboard, let alone diagramming a PCB, etching, and soldering the whole thing together. Taking apart a $3 hallmark card netter me a 16 ohm speaker, a mic, and a puff of blue smoke when something shorted, and I don't want to buy a toy Hasbro just to rip the thing apart for it to puff like the card did, so to anyone out there who has successfully accomplished this and wishes to share information, I have one itsy bitsy, teeny tiny, quaint little request for you.....

    HELP ME!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

I truly think this will drive me mad faster that trying to understand the statement, "If it weren't for my horse, I would have never made it through that first semester of college."

  3. Well, it is 3, gimme a day to rework my BFII controls and I'll post a photobucket of reference pics.

And as for the weapons systems...in the game they use the bazooka (I'll wiki it later to find the exact name, but w/e), but since they are a "Heavy Weapons Trooper", I think any heavy weapons are game. I mean, they use an E-11 as a SIDEARM for cryin' out loud!

Again, give me some time, and I'll get you more than enough grabs to make your wn bazooka and put the pouch argument down, k?

  4. Well, if you wanted to make it float, think of making it like a hovercraft, you'll just need to think of a way of hiding the propellers and skirt, but the props could be towards the back where the main drive engines are, and you can do duct work to get the air intake to them, but then you need a way to fill the skirt with air so it has a cushion to float on.

Don't ask me why I've thought through that.

  5. I'm thinking I might X-Mas gift myself a set of armor (maybe just FX, or birthday it to myself, it's a little closer), just need McHell to realize I'm the second-best grillman in the store, I need better pay! But I WILL be going ANH elite off the bat.

Well, that suit and I'll need a better bucket, and a blaster, and...

  6. A friendly "Booyah!" to you sir in the "Live Free or Die" state.

Yeah, you should definitely get in touch with your garrison, they will be a good source of knowledge to help you along in the process of making your armor come to life, just this this detachment here. And it's always good to know the people in your garrison, they'll be the people you troop with 90% of the time.

  7. Sorry if I'm bringing up something that's been brought up before, but I direct your attention to this screenshot:

    post-2114-1221155657_thumb.jpg

First, doesn't Luke look a little Dirty Harry in this?

Second, look at the side of the gun. See where the counter, the mounting bar for the counter, and the other round things would be? Notice how it's devoid? Could an E-11 made, based off this image, be allowed for Elite status? Just trying to do some homework before I start getting into anything.

Again, sorry if this had been brought up before, don't hurt me!

  8. Yeah, I'm new to this forum, kinda been around on other 501st detachment forums, but I'm a bit of a lurker, this way I won't say anything stupid real quick. So I guess I'll see y'all around and just snag info and wisdom where I can.
