  1. I love the finished boots, you did a really good transformation on them.

I bought myself some black Chelsea boots for my suit and decided to dye them white with a TRG leather dye kit shade 101. I used the old blue masking tape route for protecting the soles and heels.

When I used the kits sponge applicator I was glad I put vinyl gloves on because that stuff dries like rubber on the tips.

I wish my elastic sides covered as nicely as yours did, mine had a rougher material, yours are awesome.

As the boots get more wear the black may show through from underneath...I put 6-8 layers of white boot polish over mine and the shins still sliced the dye layers off.

One of the guys who troops a lot locally told me he sprays his boots with Plasti-kote to give them some protection .

I carry a small bottle of white correction fluid in my armour bag for emergency touch ups if needed.

  2. Hi folks, just thought I would post a little update on my TK suit.

I have been poring over the threads here for help, inspiration and a calming influence when bits began to fight back. Lol

I managed to get it to a wearable stage on 21st of June and when I tried the full suit on for the first time...man, that thing is sooooo warm!

I had a deadline of the 22nd June because that was the date my fellow local troopers were going to an event and asked if I wanted to join them for it.

My very first Stormtrooper event !

It was just along the road from my house and was a surprise visit for a young lad on his holy communion party.

I suited up with the other guys in the hotels dining room and the DJ played the Imperial March as we entered the function room...the reaction of the younglings was incredible when we marched in. Truly magical.

We had loads of pictures taken, I cannot describe the feeling of pride I had that my suit was helping to bring some Star Wars magic to the little guys special day.

I have got some work still to do on it but the other troopers said they liked my 'fresh from the Academy shiny whites'.

I could not have got to the stage I am at now without all the superb info, help and tutorials on this site.

Now all I have to do is figure out the way to post a few pics of the suit so far. Lol

  3. There are actually 2 other troopers in Jersey who already do fund raising for local charities...they asked me if i was going to join the offshore garrison as a new recruit when I posted a picture of me with my MRCE lid on FB.

I wonder if they know the Emperor has an itchy trigger finger fueled with lightning bolts?

Eeeeep, better get my suit done pronto because a forearm and a helmet are not much protection against the power of the dark side of the Force.

    ;)

  4. Hi there, I am a newbie with an FX kit I bought from ebay back in 2008,

I have also got a MRCE lid and an extra FX lid (also bought way back in 2008)

I finally thought it was time to get motivated and make a move on the building process, so I have made a start this afternoon and assembled one of the forearms using 2 part epoxy.

The FISD has been a great resource for me as a long time Star Wars fan but novice suit builder and I can see the suit finally getting completed sooner rather than later.

The longest journey starts with the smallest step, hopefully I am now on the road to a great destination.

    Regards

    Garry
