  1. I am sure this topic has been repeated a million times in different threads, so for that I apologize.

I need to purchase the brow trim but want to make sure I get the right rubber. I am working with 2 fiberglass stunt helmets. The last piece of the puzzle are the brow trims. Any help would be appreciated. If the US52 from Seals Direct in the UK is the most screen accurate rubber, then I will buy that. Are the TE2 helmets screen accurate? because if so, #US159 is 5/8" high and 3/8" wide which is what I measured from a TE2 helmet.

again thank you for any help!!

  2. although it is just a u channel the really accurate ones you get in the uk :) They have the so called lip you can see on the movie helmets. It's possibly a question of how they store them on the rolls why the lips occur?? Please correct me if I am wrong but that is what me was told.

I'm not sure I understand your "lip" question. From what I observed, the square U channel extrusions appear to have a lip because the side of the rubber is attached to/or slid under the helmet. It gives a "wedge" appearance when you glue the other side flat. I have a few emails in to rubber supply companies here in the USA. I will you know what I learn about availability.

  3. The hyperdyne seems to be $145 usd (?75 quid or so) the ROM F/X about ?105 quid ( $205 usd) according to their respective websites.

    Which is more screen accurate?

    Which is louder?

Does the ROM F/X come with an amp?

    I know the Hyperdyne doesn't.

...and most importantly..HOW DO YOU GET ONE??!!!! ...back ordered...waiting lists...discontinued?....why is it so hard to get one?!!

  4. I have the ROM/FX and it has various settings to alter the distortion in your voice, the static bursts can be turned on/off and you can adjust the time delay and so on but it doesnt lower the tone of your voice. I think it could do with being a little louder in a busy environment so i may get an amp to beef up the volume, hope this helps you somewhat.

What is the price difference from the ROM/FX and the hyperdyne?

  5. I think they're currently, as per usual, back ordered.

-Does it lower your voice? The troopers I have heard using it sound like it is lowering their voice.

-How does it trigger the static burst?

-What is the difference between the trooper version and the Pro trooper version? I am not interested in a link to hyperdyne's website....I want an opinion and advice from actual users.

    -Where do you mount it?

-It says it is a voice amp....does it have an amp?...sounds like you need to buy that separately.

-Has anyone used the ROMFX or any other comparable model?

-I am not liking the "blow on the mic" static burst...I want the true to the movie click burst sound...Hyperdyne sounds great...Is it more than what they are advertising on their website? Pro = $168.00?

Thanks to whomever may respond to this!!

  6. Just keep in mind that this only works with FX helmets. All others have the chin piece molded on.

    A few more questions:

    1. What kind of soundproofing material did you use?

    2. What size and watt speaker did you use?

    3. What is your amp rated at for output?

  7. Hello,

I am learning as much as I can... I am trying to get the voice amp thing working as inexpensively as I can. I got the little audio amp from Radio Shack, some on/off switches, wire, listening device, and a headphone/mic with 2 wires, one for the Radio Shack listening device I got and one for the voice amp.

    Now for the questions:

1.) What kind of speakers will make it loud enough without the feedback?

2.) Where do I mount everything for the best results?

3.) Should it be voice activated or push to talk?

What have you done and why? ;)

    Thanks,
