Welcome, I am on the Sunny Coast and go by the same name on the Redback forums. They're an awesome group of people and everyone there, and here at the FISD are extremely helpful.
-
Really awesome, they were pulling all of the ladies
-
Agreed, this is a great bucket build.
-
This is a great resource for someone like me who is still at the stage of researching what kit to purchase. Thanks a lot for all those comparisons guys!
-
I prefer the, I guess 'originalness' of the ANH TKs as they were the first and the best (in my opinion). ANH was the first of the movies and I think that this factor is what a lot of people also think of when choosing which TK to build.
-
Great idea. Going to attempt that in my own bucket.
-
Welcome, good to see another Aussie Garrison pop up!
-
Bottom right of the post, to the left of 'MULTIQUOTE' That is the default location. If not, I wouldn't have a clue :/
-
They may just make up a new one..."Aren't you a little TALL for a Stormtrooper?"
We can never win.
-
A 6"5' Vader would look stunningly awesome on troops. If you end up going TK (Stormtrooper) at least no one can use the "little short for a stormtrooper" joke on you.
-
That Cantina Band, simply amazing. Looked like awesome fun! Great photos as well

Welcome!
Like all the others said, enjoy it here, take your time, because you have it!..:-)
Will do Soren! Thanks for all the welcomes everyone!

Welcome to FISD!
Thank you very much!
-
Welcome Sacha! Looks like we're both in the same boat Look forward to seeing a build thread down the road. Good luck and enjoy the endless reading ahead
Thanks Jacob, look forward to seeing you around!

Welcome! Have you signed up on the redback garrison forums (our local garrison) www.501st.com.au/forum
Pop on in and we'll get you on your way. We have a few members on the sunny coast, so you'll probably be able to make it to an armour party or a troop to check out some armour first hand.
Thanks Seantrooper, as a matter of fact. I registered on the Redback Garrison forums last night and put out another Intro thread. Thanks for letting me know!

Look great man, well done!

You are more than welcome, you have the exact attitude needed for costuming, research, research and when you think you know it all research some more, good luck and if ever in doubt ask
Will do, the 501st and the FISD is definitely a place I plan on staying.

Roger that, I will definitely hold off on the armour for a long while. I have briefly looked at Centurion and it does seem like a lot of work (definitely worth it) but I certainly think I may as well go for EIB when I finally get to the stage of forking out the cash. I have the time, so there is no reason for me not to aim high. Thanks for the tips.

Hello and welcome aboard, with time on your hands you can do lots of research which is the best way to start, good luck and hope to see a build thread from you in the not too distant future
Thanks for the welcome, good to see an Aussie face, or should I say helmet around. I think one of my main problems of starting a build before 18 is due to science. Apparently I keep growing so it may be tricky to equate for sizes, especially when trimming armour down.
-
Wow, thanks for all this comparison and explanation of Armour types and what to stay away from. When I have cash and age on my side I am looking at a TM or AP ANH build. This thread is great, gives some good newbie tips and all, keep up the great work FISD!

Welcome and do take your time to build and learn. Since you can't join yet anyway, you have the perfect excuse to take it slow and really become a master of stormtroopers.
Also, for the supplies like glue and stuff, generally we speak against ebay, but that is for armour. If you know what you're looking for, and why you need it, I'm sure you can find it on ebay for less and with less shipping than buying everything from the US.
Yes, hahaha. I will have many moons to study this artform and become truly in touch with my inner-Stormtrooper.
And yes, I certainly know about the DON'T USE EBAY FOR ARMOUR, IT'S A TRAP rule; I don't plan on it.

Hello everyone here at the FISD!
I'm really glad I have found this community and I look forward to EVENTUALLY getting a set of shiny white (most likely AP as of now). I understand that the joining age of the 501st is 18 but I thought, I could never be to young to get the ball rolling and fill my growing brain full of research and facts about creating an accurate set of armour (yes, I spell it with a 'u' ).
I currently reside on the Sunshine Coast in the state of Queensland, Australia and enjoy everything Star Wars. As a sidenote I have a strong interest in WW2 and am part of a re-enactment group in my local area, we attend History events and also private practices.
I have only just started and due to my age, don't have some of the money that others may have. I have black 'chemical type' gloves in my possession and also have a bucket and Aker MR1506 on the way (currently don't have enough dosh for the iComm but will definitely purchase in the future.) I will upload pics in this thread when everything arrives.
Shipping prices from the US are probably the one thing that I wish didn't cost so much, flexible hand guards and E-6000 from Trooperbay cost around $65.99 with postage which equates to about $72 AUS dollars. I probably will look for a cheaper option xD.
If you'd like anymore information about me feel free to ask and I look forward to getting to know all of you throughout my researching and build process.

I'm using that idea now! Always had to try and get it right with my hands after the bucket was on.
Thanks!
