  1. Hi Remy, and welcome to your EI review, lets take a look.

    CRL and EIB Application Requirements:

All required photos have been posted however there is something that will require modification before we can award you the EI badge.

As per the wording in the CRL in reference to your side shims.

For level two certification (if applicable):

    • Any gap between the abdomen and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide.
    • Any shims used to achieve this effect are of a similar material and color as the abdomen and kidney armor. Shims fit flush and seams are allowed.
We are referencing the fact that your side shims are not a flush fit but sit behind the Kidney and abdomen plate.

Generally a backing piece is used, then you glue the shim on top of that and align it with the edge of the kidney plate. Know the multiple seams are fine for EIB but only a single seam is allowed at Centurion.

Here is an example of kidney shims from other EI applications for your reference. Ignore the rivets as they are not required for EI approval.

If you can please attend to the above and resubmit a few new photos, we will continue with your review.

You got this Remy, your so close.

Ahh, that is what that means. There was some confusion on my part. I thought it meant flush with the top and bottom of the kidney and abb plates. Well I won't be around my armor again until mid September. :-( Once I am back I'll make the modifications and get back with you. And was hoping to have EIB spot #600 too. Would have too if it wasn't for those shims. Ugh! Ha-ha.

  3. Well, after many months of hard work... I am finally official.  I received approval for my ESB TK this afternoon!!!!  Now I just need to take my pics and post them up here for my EIB application phase.  I constructed it to EIB standards right off the bat, so I would not have to deal with it later.  Can't wait for my first official troop in it on Saturday!!!

  4. Personally speaking, concerning real life, it depends on the troop. During Mardi Gras here in Louisiana I like the clean, nice and shiny look. With all the marching we do with Lord Vader it looks really cool. When we are on troops where we are up close and personal, intermingling with people, I think it is a bit cooler to have the worn scuffy look. It adds to the costume, for showing off "damage from battle".

As far as if the empire were real, I think it would depend on where the trooper was. I mean if they were on the Death star or a "clean" environment, then yes the look of the suit would be expected more prim and proper. I think if the trooper was some place like say, Tatooine or Kashyyyk then of course the suits would be more on the beat up side. Concerning what the empire would have as far as acceptable, I think they would take were a trooper was stationed into account. If they were an escort for a superior Lord or even the emperor himself, of course they would want to have the clean suits. But I also think that the empire would know that all troops can't have perfect armor, all the time. (Don't tell Lord Vadar I said that.)

  5. After several months of not being able to log on, because of computer issues and improper displaying the log in page, I can finally introduce myself.  :D

The name is Remy S.  I actually joined the 501st back just a couple months ago.  I am a member over on the Jolly Roger forums as a Reserve Tie Pilot.  TI-49454, also known as akrembug.  I grew up in Alaska, thus the AK in my username.  I am currently working in the Gulf of Mexico and stay in Louisiana every so often where I do my trooping.

I have always wanted to do a Stormtrooper and now I have the opportunity.  I actually just ordered my trooper gear for an ESB Stormtrooper, from AP.  Wait time is about 4 weeks (that was 2.5 weeks ago) so I am hoping to get working on this soon.  I still need to get a neck seal, boots, ESB hand plates, blaster & under suit.  Hopefully it wont be to long and I can officially join you as a TK.

    Later,

    Remy
