  1. I was able to get another CORRECT set of armor, build it and get approved on my first attempt just days before Boston Comic-Con. I've posted pics in the costuming thread of 501neg.com.

I still have the fiberglass armor as I really cant bring myself to pass it off to someone else. I may either make a Shadow Death Trooper out of it or stick it in the basement in hopes the trolls can fix it. ;)

    Good luck with yours.

  2. I finished my Shadow Trooper armor last Sunday, submitted my pics to my garrison on monday, got temporary approval. My pics were submitted to Legion Tuesday and i got approved Wednesday morning.

I was able to troop Boston Comic Con as a full member.

I never expected things to move that quick.

    TX-14112 reporting for duty.

  3. I had seen the same auction but wanted to be sure I was getting a Darman holster. After buying a neck seal a couple months ago, I knew the quality would be spot on getting it here.

  4. Well, I am now a member of the New England Garrison and this past weekend I was able to attend a "Build Day" in Danvers, Ma. I met quite a few Garrison members and learned a lot while starting assembly on my Shadow Trooper armor. There is no way I could have done this without their help. I still have to assemble the arms and legs but for the most part, the torso us done.

Next though, i have to pick up some tools and supplies to continue my build. Hopefuly i can do that today after work.

They are having another build party next month and I hope to have my helmet by then so I can either build it or at least finish it up. My goal is to have my costume completed and approved before the Boston Comic-Con.

  5. Lol, I know it's mostly white armor here but there is so much info here that I can use for my TX armor. The responses and help I've received has been super helpful.

My new TX shadow Trooper armor should be here this week. Hopefully I can sell a few more items I have collecting dust to get a new helmet kit.

Right now I've been working on little projects to fill my spare time and here's my latest. Since I was already buying the Doopys blaster kit, I decided to also pick up his Electrobinocular kit. A little e-6000, spray paint, tape and a disc cut from my welding curtain, I came up with this.

I know most are one color, either black or white but since I may not even use it, I decided to get a little creative. I still have to break out the brushes and do some detail work. I may even look around the garage for some other do-dads to change it up a bit.

  6. Also, I sold my guitar, took the advice of a few fellow troopers and ordered a new armor set. It should be here next week. I'll post pics when it comes in.

The old armor set, I'll either keep and use it for pieces, build a death trooper, come up with a new specialty trooper or just sell it on craigslist. I guess time will tell. ;)

  7. I started working on a Boba Fett blaster for my wife yesterday. No mods, just paint. I put down a layer of black Fusion paint so I shouldn't have to worry about flaking then copper paint on the scope, bronze hammertone on the handle and body, bronze hammertone on the butt stock details then another light coat of black over the whole blaster. T

This way I can lightly sand through the top black layer giving me a nice weathered look. I'll then paint the butt stock and hand grips brown and drybrush black over them to give it a natural wood grain look.

  8. I've been making these for years. I started doing them for the haunted house we used to run to raise money for United Way back in the 90's- early 2000's. My wife and i made one this past weekend with the intention of making a tutorial as well as having a form to use for my armor assembly.

Its funny, while i was taped up I was walking around the living room telling my wife we need to find gold duct tapr and make a C3P0 costume. ;)

  9. Ok, as expected, I've got a lot of work ahead of me. I'm going to replace a few pieces since a few are warped and being fiberglass they don't flex without cracking. The helmet will need some work as well. First I'm going to get rid of the volume control knobs then sculp some ribs for the vocoder. The stripe decals will be removed, the brow trim removed and replaced with something a bit more accurate. I dont think stick-on foam weather stripping is going to cut it. ;)  Then I'll start working on the armor.

So, this is what I'm working with. Selling it and buying something else is out of the question. The wife just won't go for it. Plus, I wouldn't want to just dump this off on someone else. I'm sure I can make it work.

I'll post a few pics later since my computer is freezing up.

  10. Yes, the tube stripes are blue. I'll be repainting them black and definately make sure they are in the correct place and facing the right direction. Once i get it, I'll assess the entire kit and may just sand it down and repaint it.

    I

ordered a black canvass belt from TKettell this morning and he said it should be done and in the mail tomorrow. I'm truely amazed by the quick turn arounds the members here have.

Thanks again for all the great advice. I really appreciate it.

  11. SolderMaster, THANK YOU!!!!

Thank you for pointing out the link on where to buy again. I'm on my phone so tend to miss some things when I enlarge to be able to read. I was under the impression that those were more "stay away from" sellers.

All I can say is thank you all for your advice and help.

I'll take some pics when I receive it and we can go from there. Until then, you have my permission to keep chuckling under your breath and doing your facepalms until I get this sorted out. ;)

You guys, i've found, are awesome and I really appreciate everything you guys do.

  12. Yes, I read through that thread yesterday. It took me this long to post because I was afraid of the answers I would get. BUT, I'm beyond that and am looking for advice. Even advice I was afraid to hear. I'll keep looking for the correct armor but will work with this until i find it.

If it's that bad, I'd really hate to pass it on to someone else but I guess that's the way the game is played. Thanks for the info. Ok, where can I buy the correct kit? Any websites or venders? I know the correct ones to buy now, just not where.

I appologize for my ignorance but with no one in my area to learn from, I guess i have to make a few mistakes to get it right. ;)

  13. Ok, I bought this on ebay and it's in transition. If it was someone here that sold it to me, thank you very much, I can't wait to get it.

The reason I bought this fiberglass suit is because I have experiance working with fiberglass. Plus, I didn't know anything about stormtrooper suits until after I bought this and joined the site.

I know being a fiberglass suit the lines are a bit softer then an original. I won't know how soft until I get it but looking at the pics, can you tell me what I could do to make it 501st / FISD acceptable if it isn't? If it isn't acceptable, it's fine, I plan on enjoying the hell out of it any way but I'd like to get it close.  :duim:

If you want to rag on me, feel free.  I can take it. ;)
