  1. Hi!

I'm tempted to say 'welcome aboard', but I'm not in myself - yet!!!

About your skills.... I'm afraid I know where you're coming from, I've got the same problem.

Having looked at almost all the building vids and pics I know all the others are right about 1 thing; we are missing out on all the fun and pride that comes with a build. :(

I do not know where you live, but when it's somewhere inside the EU I can recommend the guys from RS. For 200 gbp extra they take care of the build. Their armor leaves room for some hight and weight differences, be sure to ask them if in doubt.

There is at least 1 more good builder in the EU which can provide you with a ready to wear armor, but sadly I forgot his or her name.

    What I like about the guys from RS is the choice between ABS and PVC ánd they provide great service;

For newbies like you and me they do not only build your armor at centurion level, but also have boots, neckseal, holster and an E11 blaster for a good price.

But be aware; there is some discussion about members aplying for EIB and Centurion level when bought ready-to-wear.

I for one will ask for EIB/Centurion approval when I get my armor, knowing there will be at least some discussion/resistance because it is not a self-build. As long as the guidelines do not state it has to be, I'll try.

    Why? That's of topic.

If you change your mind and want to give self- build a try; this is the place to be.

You can get tips on every little detail of your build. You will find everybody here is willing to give a hand/advice on how to proceed when/if you run into any problems.

    Great place, great people!

    Best of luck! ; )

    Cheers!

  2. When you place an order they will ask you to place a little deposit (about 200 gbp) by paypal. After that they will let you know the shedule. The build itself will take about 6 weeks (at centurion level!)

They do not only have armor; to help new troopers they also can provide boots, undersuit, holster, neckseal and e11.

Nice guys, , excellent armor and fantastic service!

  3. hi guys, im new here. was thinking of getting my first armor for cosplay purpose (not for joining 501st). im 5ft 6 and 200lb, which armor do you guys recommend? i prefer trimmed and ready to wear cause i dun really got the time to build it myself. isit possible to get one with budget 1k? or max 1.5k?

RS will build it for you for 200 GBP. You'll be also needing gloves, neckseal, boots, holster and E 11 blaster (resin), but still you'll be ready to troop for under 1.5 k (about 1430) - that's GBP, not USD or EUR. :smiley-sw013:

  4.

During my search for boots, I also came across somebody that mentioned another (US) option; had something to do with uniforms for a Military Academy - according to this person they use white boots that would fit the bill. But could be expensive. I'm not sure, because I didn't check it.

:dancing-trooper:Didn't have to - got an offer from RSPropmaster when I contacted them to finally order my armor. :happy and cheerful birthday:

  5. You could consider to add something like on the picture below ( made by Mynock ). That will take care of any hearing problems.

After he build this in, he wanted to test it and went for a drive in his car with his bucket on! :smiley-sw013:

I think he's asking something in the region of $ 150. I left a message asking him to build me a set, waiting for a reply.

  6. Their guns look the part, but what about quality?

    Found this review on http://replicaweaponry.com;

.357 Magnum Replica Makes a Nice Prop Gun - Made by Denix

Although this replica looks good at first glance we do not necessarily recommend this product. The plastic grips tend to crack and the the cylinder does not always spin properly. We continue to sell these because we recognize some people may still have a need for the item, however we wanted to make the customer aware of these issues.

    Got me worried...

  7. Welcome aboard Richard! Good luck with your research and build. While we don't have an Attaché that I am aware of in your future Garrison, there are plenty of troopers willing to lend a hand. We look forward to following your progress!

    Good luck! :jc_doublethumbup:

Thank you for your kind words, and I'm sure you will see me around this place a lot too - looking for the expertise you all seem to have in bundle! I cannot remember finding so much knowledge about a specific subject in one single place. It's amazing! Hmm... that came out wrong; I'm starting to sound a bit like Steve Jobs.

Anyway, thank you guys for sharing!

  8. Greetings and welcome! Tons of info here. Local help will really get the all rolling. All the best on your build!

Thanks! There is certainly a lot to take in and help is offered from all sides. You surely know how to make somebody feel welcome!

    Cheers! :duim:

  9. Welkom bij het FISD, Richard!

You're in good hands with the Dutch garrison, they're great people!

As for your wife, if she shows some interest already, you never know ;)

About my wife - I hope you're right; and if not in uniform, maybe.... I believe you call them handlers: the members who keep an eye on things during trooping events. We'll see. Fingers crossed. :)

  10. Welcome Richard!

There are armour makers that provide building services for an extra fee, they build it tailored to what measures you send them. It's not that common, but not unheard of either. In fact, I think it's getting more common. So I'm sure you will have a really nice armour in the end.

I've also met some of your future garrison mates, and they are wonderful people. You'll have a great time with them. :duim:

When it's anything like the contact I've had with their XO - you are absolutely right!

And about those building services;I know it exists, only problem is; most of them live outside the EU and you do not want to know how much tax I have to pay if I have it send to my place.

So it looks like I'm taking the advice from the Dutch XO and order mine from Rspropmasters (UK).

    Cheers!

  11. Hi everybody,

    Greetings from The Netherlands!

After taking some time looking at all the pics and vids off you guys (and girls!) building your own armor :icon_bow: , you really make me feel I'm missing out of some of the fun (is this proper English?) - understatement!

I've got two left hands, so my wife gave me the go-a-head to join the forces; as long it's a ready-to-wear armor I'm going for... And I must say, looking back on some little projects I did in the past: I can't blame her... So I'm not going to fight her on this - besides, the force is way too strong in this one.

I will however, attempt to install the electronics in my 'bucket' by myself, ánd try to make it look good on the inside. :smiley-sw013: For me this still will be quite a challenge, but I'm actually looking forward to that!

And maybe, just maybe, this will make me feel less like a cheat when I - somewhere in the future - dare to apply for "expert infantry"; the XO of the Dutch Garrison has been a great help sofar :jc_doublethumbup:, so I think/hope that I (with of course some help of fellow troopers) can make the necessary mods when the time comes. ^_^ I'm getting ahead of myself now; found what I was looking for, but haven't ordered anything yet...

By the way: Although I don't think I'll get my wife ever into uniform, due to the nature of the trooping events she already told me that, when the time comes, she wants to come along to see what it's like. Which I thought was funny, as I don't even know what it will be like... :)

Anyway, it's great to see how everybody is willing to help you out if you get stuck. Especially for guys like me! Very encouraging! :duim:

    So, enough about me,

looking forward to things to come,

    Cheers!

    ;)
