Welcome aboard, dude!

The trick is holding the headset mic in your teeth while screwing the bucket on and off.

I prefer the ABS for that accurate color and it can be plenty shiny with some Nov us and Imperial elbow grease .
I've never seen the PVC but I was told it was thinner, more flexible, whiter & shinier.
Once you find and repair your first armor crack with ABS cement and fiberglass cloth and it comes out stronger than before you will start to worry a lot less.
It's good to read so much feedback about the PVC RS. I was always curious about the road not traveled.
With all that said I would not trade my ABS RS suit for anything and if your heart is set on RS and it wilI fit your body well I don't think you can go wrong with either choice of material.

Thanks very much again.
As for the join in the sides I did ask RS to leave a little extra there because it was a long wait for the big brown box and my weight was fluctuating a bit. As I reach my fighting weight I will be able to trim down the excess on that side.

Thanks everybody.
I had always felt the belt fraying looked a bit ratty but assumed that it must be authentic since RS sent it assembled like that, but I never noticed it with the armor on so it's been an item pushed to the back of my mind. The rivet positions for the holster mount are my own fault, so I'm glad to know that I can correct it when I replace the belt. Thanks for the handy diagram. Now I can refer right to my own EIB request thread when I gear up for Centurion.
I hope the extra photos are not a problem. I initially thought I could just apply for Centurion and assumed it would include both checklists and certifications in one step [wrong!], so they were erroneously posted in that thread first.
-
I had to make a lot if changes over my basic build to get to Centurion level. I am merely pointing out areas of possible opportunity should you choose to try for Centurion. Please don't take what anyone says negatively. We are all here to help.
Absolutely not, I very much appreciate your feedback. That is why I changed my above post's wording from "criticize" to "critique" which is more accurate and appropriate.

Original post is updated with blaster shots.

I feel it is important to point out that you are critiquing Rob & Simon ' s work.
Here is their website:
As for the bottom back side of the thigh plates, I was told by several garrison members including our chief armorer that I would have to shave that area out to prevent the bites I was getting, and was shown photos of actual screen-used armor that had the same thing done to it, and so not to worry.

I'm getting very conflicting stories on that topic. But I'll install the D-ring and add the photos today.
-
I was told that they are technically not required and don't count against your application if not submitted.
In fact, I have a Hyperfirm E-11 but haven't installed the D-ring yet.

Looks great, really nice photos. A one inch wide elastic band enclosing the bottom of each bell will give the joined biceps and forearms a place to hang from and help keep them tight and forward facing.

Requesting Trooper status for forums. Here's a link to my member page: http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=15805
I didn't see any other requirements in the first post but let me know if I missed something. Thanks!

If you get a complete RS suit "fully loaded" and assembled by RS to your measurements, you are going to look like you stepped right off the movie screen. You will not be disappointed if that is what you want. You will most likely still have to trim for mobility and comfort and where the armor bites.

update: Bippy did manage to get in contact with me and activate my account of va501st.com
-
I guess I missed Evilboy's armor party. I never got an invitation. Anyway, I've already registered on va501st.com twice in the past two months. I could try again, but isn't my inactive account already there? If so, it might choke on the same email again.
Update: Ok it was apparently deleted again, so I was able to register a third time as user "flerndip" without any data conflicts.
Update: Bippy got in contact with me and I made it onto va501st.com at last, thanks!

I signed up on va501st.com but haven't heard back yet. It's getting to be weeks now. My RS armor should be arriving any day now.
-
I wonder if the "hammered" textured paint would be sufficient to hide the grain on a well-sanded wooden blaster.
-
I have never played BFH but as I'm pretty sure it's F2P (free to play) I would be willing to give it a try.
-
Thanks, I registered under the username "flerndip".
-
Is it normal for it to take a long time to hear from your local garrison's website for account activation? I have registered an account on va501st.com but still haven't received an email, and my armor is going to arrive soon. I received Bippy's automated email but no followup yet. I hope everything is okay.

I'm just wondering if there is a gaming clan or some such group for FISD members/aspirants who play online games like Battlefield 3, Team Fortress 2, SWTOR, etc? I play all these games and a host of others, but they are generally a lot more fun and rewarding to play in groups with VOIP. Is there a Steam group?

This seemed like a huge pain, so I'm following the best advice I've received on this topic. I got some black cotton glove liners to use with my pre-glued chemical gloves from Karin. They will keep my hands from sweating up the inside of the screen-accurate gloves, and protect my PTT button from shorting out.

That is ridiculously impressive.
