    Hello,

I was really interested in this image I saw of the inside of the helmet:

A while back I decided to try to make it in 3D and see if I could get it printed. I had found somebody who said he'd print it but he never followed through with it and the project lost steam. I'll attach my first attempt at it. When I made this it was my first ever attempt at a functional 3D print and I didn't really know what I was doing. Since then I've gotten a job doing 3D printing and sculpting though so I'm a lot more confident at it now.

I thought this piece was cool because it looks cool and I can make the top a magnetic removable top that houses batteries and some tube could be fit in to power the fans. If there's any interest in this sort of thing let me know and I could make more of these components if somebody wanted, like that sea-shell shaped ear piece.

I don't have access to a 3D printer right now unfortunately though, so if anyone does and wants to experiment with me let me know. Once the design is solid we could send to shapeways for a really clean plastic version that wouldn't show any visible seams.

Im currently doing test pints on my old heffer of  printer that i thought was truly dead...... Im even going out today in the snow to get some UHU Glue for it. I could try printing it, but i would need the files, preferable in .STL format, otherwise,, i can probably convert it, if need be. If you want, just PM them to me, and ill experiment...... If it works out, i can ship them out to you.

  2. I would also have to agree, that's one of Jim's older versions. Since he's began making it, it's been upgraded and changed multiple times. There is an ongoing thread on the rpf with his improvements and sales list. He also seems to be offering a Phasma upgrade kit, which I'm going to try out when I get my set in March. From my emailing with him, he's really nice and seems to want the sets out to everyone ASAP. I also think some of those issues were resolved, but I could be wrong. Honestly, if there was something he changed later, it seems like he would probably sell it to you if you needed it for approval, or if you just liked it. I think you just need to ask sometimes.

Have you seen this? What are your thoughts? The price is kinda crazy in my opinion, you could just get the armor and a mannequin... But interesting none the less.

Wow T K, you hit it right on the head, it's ridiculously expensive, and you could easily build your own armor, buy a posable mannequin, you could even make OR buy a real rock to mount it, and save over $4000.....

  4. Yea I know we won't learn much if there's nobody to learn from but I just meant enough people to actually call it a "party" lol. There's not as many troopers out here in KW as there are in T.O. I'm sure. Also it wouldn't bother me at all being the only newbie there, but it'd be cool and also much more useful if there were others learning to build too. I just want to meet and learn from as many other troopers as I can while beginning my journey and I think the local troopers would be a good start, seeing as I don't actually know a single person in the community yet, new or old. Reading these forums online is an amazing reference for information and help but meeting other troopers in person can give one a real charge and inspiration.

Well, there does have to be a bit of newbie spirit in learning our own ropes, so once I get my armor, I'm looking to have a chat with anyone willing to locally chat.

Honestly, I've learned that at one point, you just need to take the reins, and just tinker.... Especially with the fact that single parts are usually easily replaced if broken or trimmed too much.

  5. Thanks a lot guys, i really appreciate it!

LidyInWhite, do you have any recommendations on the armorers? I totally agree with the fact itll take a long time to get the kit ready, thats why I want to start ASAP so i can have it ready by next years FanExpo (Canada's ComicCon) in abput August. I also agree wih the fact thats its a game of patience.... Ive been doing my research for about 2 years, and I trufully havent found someone that is 100% recommended by everyone, and your guys help will really help, and is greatly appreciated!

    thanks

  6. hello!

I am a full time student looking for a starter kit of armor.

It doesnt necessarely have to be from ebay, but i just need an easy kit to build under the price of 750 CAD. Any recommendations are welcome, but I know all you guys are going to say is dont buy one, make one, and once again......... I am a FULL time student, I really only have the time to to the bare minimum to make if wearable, I do not want to be making it from scratch.
