  1. I got on the waiting list back towards the beginning of September and so I'm about 7 weeks into my 18 week wait. I have been working on a Hasbro/Doopy conversion, but I'm still waiting on the DoopyDoo kit to arrive in the mail. I've taken quite a few ideas from builds and such from the boards here and tried putting them towards my blaster build. I have been taking pics, so when I finally get my kit in the mail and finish the build, I will post a build thread. I've been trying to gather some tools and supplies in preperation for my armor build. I still need to order my TK boots, kneck seal, canvas belt, etc. There is a member in my local garrison that makes holsters for blasters so I will be getting that from him soon. I have also already had a few local garrison members offer to help with the assembly of my armor when it finally arrives. :duim: I just continue to count down the weeks, read as much as possible on the forums, and envy the pics of other builds.

  2. I am in the same boat as you I just ordered a efx helmet cause a few friends of mine said that they are easy to modify. I been wanting to do this for years. My first convention type event was while i was stationed in Korea and they had a Star Wars Exhibition at the Museum of Science in Downtown Seoul. It was my first experience with meeting a person in full Darth Vader atire and a few Stormtroopers put on a show for everyone at the local Subway station for people heading to the exhibit. After seeing that it made my desire even stronger to obtain a set of armor for myself. Now that I am back Stateside for awhile I am working on turning that dream into a reality. So Far i have a media room completely filled with Star Wars Paraphernalia, and my lovely wife has a Princess Leia Slave Girl outfit that makes me drool(lol). Good Luck on your build!!!!

Thanks a lot man, good luck on yours too! I'm doing all the research I can before I make any more purchases. My wife wants to get into this and wear some sort of costume, she just has to figure out what. She is pretty small, 5'2" and about 105lbs, so her options will be somewhat limited. Anyway, I'm really excited to get going on all of this.

  3. I'm going to e-mail some of the suppliers that were listed and start to try and get an idea of prices so I can get started on getting some armor together. It will be a slow process for me as I'm on a fairly tight budget right now. My wife, knowing how bad I want to build a suit, got on line and ordered me a helmet already and it should be here sometime this week. She ordered an eFX helmet, and I know from what I've read I will need to do some work and slight modifications to it. I'm completely up for that, I've loved building and working on models since I was a kid. I also know from what I've read that it is not one of the preferred helmets to purchase, but my wife was being sweet and wanted to suprise me with it and I will make it work. I'm 5'9" and 175lbs, so from what I think I'm understanding, AP and ATA would probably be my best bet as far as good fitting armor kit for my body type. Do either one of these or both offer armor without a helmet, or am going to end up just owning two helmets? I wouldn't mind having another helmet, but I figure an armor kit without a helmet is going to be less expensive than a kit including a helmet. Thanks in advance for any input, critisizm, or advice given. All is welcome!

  4. Hi, my name is Andy and I have been a big fan of Star Wars my whole life. I got hooked back when my brother took me to see Star Wars in the theater in 1977. My wife and I have attended several different types of conventions around the Tennessee and Kentucky areas and have both talked about doing some costuming ourselves. I told her I wanted to get a Storm Trooper (TK) armor set and started looking into armor and helmets. That is where I read about you guys, and my wife and I are in awe of what this group does for charity and such. I started just wanting a nice set of armor to wear to conventions and just to goof off in, but now I want to get armor that qualifies for the 501st and get involved in the work you guys do. Luckily, after reading through some of the do's and don'ts on purchasing armor, I haven't ordered any yet. I really wasn't sure of what or where to order from, and was trying to gather as much information as I could before making a purchase. I will be doing this a piece at a time and at a fairly slow pace. I'm sending my oldest off to college next month, so I am going to be on a tight budget for a while. My sweet wife told me 2 days ago, she ordered me a helmet and it should be here within the next week. It is an eFX helmet, and from what I've been reading, I will have to do a little work on it to get it ready for 501st. I don't mind doing some work on pieces, it should be fun and interesting. I hope to meet some of the members from the MidSouth Garrison at one of their events sometime soon. I have also joined the boards over there. I'm anxious to learn and to get started Trooping!
