  1. I wear AM and I cut mine. The AM and NE butt are similar in size. As long as you don't cut off so much as to loose the the portion where it angles up to the kidney you'd be fine. I'm 5-11 160lb for reference. Oh as an after thought do you have a crotch strap? That helps pull my butt down a bit. I do wear my armor tight though.

  2. 3 on mine 4 on my ladies Tx. I'm a skinny dude with no behind so it works for me. Ladies are shaped a little different though, but I suspect if you are going to shim the side 4 would be the way to go. Keeps the edges of the butt under control. 2 on the outer edge of the hump placed like \hump/ (slashes for angle meh about 10 degrees I guess) helps keep centered. The other 2 about 2 inches from the outer edge.

  3. I've had a hands on with the NE lid. The face plate could do centurion no problem well the whole thing could. Well except maybe the ears you just can't get them high enough. I've built just about 6 ATA lids and an RS props and those are like butter! I've heard through my garrison that NE has heard all the complaints about the ears and "Will' be fixing them so the builder can fit them properly. As far as size yeah it's larger I wish I had taken some pics. I can tell you that the ears are close to screen derived size and the swoop is very close but, they are a bear to fit. The armor well if you have the guts to cut and I mean cut it it'll fit your size. I wear AM and it was larger than NE. I'm 6' 155 soaking wet the lid can make centurion I think but it'll take time and patience to see that. At least the armor got centurion as well it should have anyone who's seen it despite the controversy should agree its no AM (though I never understood the hate).

  4. I trimmed mine and I'm near 6'. I have a long torsoe and short upper legs. The shins are just fine. If you have to do it get a compas you know the geometry I need to draw a circle type. That way you keep the shape and don't end up with barrel legs. It's not for everybody I know turn them if you can but I had to turn them too much so cutting was the only option. I wear mine high and tight so most can't tell there's no return. Just try to keep the shape that's my best suggestion.

  5. Well I'll chime in. The CRLs seem to be changing here and there. I'm still a newb. I just got my digits in October and I sport AM. I'm a skinny guy and the chest and back are going to prevent centurion for me unless I replace them. I still haven't found those money tree seeds there here somewhere. Well that or cut the crow out of them and risk being the deformed trooper or fubared all together and I'd have to cut a lot! I'm 5'11-1/2" 159lb. Then there's the sticky situation of the rivets. Right now filled and painted poppers of the correct size will do. Well from what I can tell truss/bifurcated with photo graphic proof is coming down the pike. Then the shoulder bells will be obsolete soon as well. AM is working on their molds and it is going to be better no doubt. But as a new guy I'd say yeah I'd love to have TM or CFO or RS props but when it gets down to it the wait time and money are a big deal too. ATA makes a great product I sport his lid because the AM was just too big (and also soon to be obsolete until the new armor appears I feel) poor big head guys. When I bought my armor time and cost where a big deal. I'd chosen between ATA or AM and sent those emails. ATA was the new guy and AM where the 2 I had chosen. I contacted both and AM could ship within a day of PayPal confirmation and ATA had a 16-18 week wait. Well that was long winded! Yes I will be one of the few and proud EIB in my garrison and hopefully a centurion with a new AM chest, back, and bells! Yeah I understand it symmetrical and stylized but there's something to say about roots. The one that started it all is the first vetted maker to be disqualified from more than basic qualification? That's the top of my soapbox so I'll step down now.

  6. If you're in the us hit ace hardware they have 1/32ish I don't remember the gauge stainless sheet. It something like 6x12 inches. Search for Jesse's tutorial and use that it'll work like a charm. You score and snap the sheet. It's so thin it will work just make a couple passes and sand the edge when done it'll be a razor. They are 1-1/8 inches wide if I'm not mistaken. Sorry I'd link the tutorial but the search doesn't like to work from my phone.

  7. ATA should fit your budget add boots and you'll be something about 40% in. Then you add tools, glue, and all the other things that make a suit and your budget isn't really bad. Stick $200 away (for spares or parts tou bung) and shop smart! Contact your local garrison and continue to do research and you'll be fine. It can be done for 1k you just have to use your head.

  8. Hey see what I know! I have a garrison mate with an RS props lid I'll get an eyes on this weekend at an armor party my garrison GML will be there too I'll fill them in on this info so he doesn't get any mess from anyone. See I knew the experts would chime in! Good work guys! It would be pretty sweet if you could ask RS if you could post those pics and one of the FISD staff could put those in the library for us just a thought.
